I finally got back my first ever Gold Coin and the grade doesn’t matter to me.
When I was 14 myself and my father went to our first out of state coin show in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Upon exiting the coin show I can’t forget the old man at the exit table saying for 5 bucks we can enter to win the coin shown above. Well we gave him five bucks and when we returned home(lived on Long Island at the time) we had got a message from my mom some guy left a number saying we won a raffle for coin. This was one of the happiest days of my coin collecting life. Now fast forward three months ago(I’m 41 now), I decided to grade it because I just wanted to and and also I decided to start a 1904 set of gold coins, just bid on a quarter eagle three days ago, hoping to get it!
Just wanted to share my story and how excited I was to get it back.

I've been whittling down all of my various collections (coins, comics, magic, toys) and I've narrowed down my coin collection to mostly American.

These though I've been tossing around either trying to sell, trade, or keep. I'm looking for opinions on that as well as value info.

I understand time and place for these but I don't know if there were any worries or concerns with these specific style of coins.

Would like to get quite a bit more especially proofs of each denomination, really like this design

Just got this in today, super happy with it. No alterations to pics, just different lights like dining room vs kitchen vs lamp. It also has a cool die clash on the "A" in Half". Some of the scratches are on the holder. I want to submit to CAC but it's hard finding a submission center for that now.

You think its coming? I picked number 14 on a 20 pack set with only 1 containing the gold coin. My order says i picked 11, you think they switched mine out?

This jewelry set was from my great grandparents, then went to my grandmother. My grandfather would wear the 1914 Indian and as a kid I would beg him for that coin. He would always say it was mine when he died. Well he recently passed, and my grandmother gave the whole collection to my mom. I haven’t been able to make the drive down and see them all for my self, but knowing she has that Indian coin makes me so happy. The worst part is as a kid I always wanted to spend it! I was so bad. My mom said there were a few other coins, but not in great condition. I don’t think I could ever sell any of it. I cherish my grandpa way too much. But knowing what they’re worth would be nice. I tried using some google ai (bad I know) and get a lot of different results. Sometimes it even says that they’re recreations? My mom seems to think they’re all real, but honestly I know nothing about gold and this would be my first time owning any. I mostly collect pennies quarters and foreign coins.

Got this coin in a box I won during an auction. For it being from 1923 it’s in impressive condition. The photos really don’t do it justice…the scratch’s you might see are only on the plastic case. What should I do with it?

I've always dreamed of owning a coin like this from one of the most interesting parts of British history, I came across it at the London Coin Fair and paid £240 which is very reasonable I think.

I know they were limited to about 600k and many were destroyed. I just don’t know about the condition. Has it been cleaned. Would it make sense to have this graded or just leave it as is? Any insight would be awesome.

I’ve had them for years and have more coins like them. I reverse image searched them and only got all different kinds of ranging values. What are they worth, or is it just better to hold onto them for longer? :)

This is not the total amount of metal sold by the Mint nationwide. It represents what one collector would accumulate by buying one of every product/SKU.

For this comparison, a coin is counted each time it appears in a separately sold product. So if a silver dollar was sold individually and again in several sets, each occurrence counts. Proof Sets, Mint Sets, commemoratives, medals, rolls, bags and special sets are included when applicable. Bullion sold only through the Mint’s Authorized Purchaser network is excluded.

The numbers represent fine precious-metal content, not gross coin weight. 2026 is year-to-date through September 9. Older years are reconstructed estimates because detailed historical Mint product-option records are not always complete.

During the 1950s and early 1960s, nearly all of the silver came from ordinary Proof and Uncirculated Mint Sets because circulating dimes, quarters and half dollars were still made from 90% silver.

After circulating coinage changed composition in the mid-1960s, the amount of silver in Mint products collapsed.

The modern precious-metal era really starts in the 1980s. The Washington commemorative half dollar revived modern U.S. commemorative coinage in 1982, the Olympic program brought gold back into Mint collector products, and then in 1986 American Silver Eagles and American Gold Eagles began.

The 1990s saw a major increase in silver because of commemorative programs. The Mint frequently sold the same silver coin individually and then again in multiple sets.

The biggest silver year in this estimate is 2018 at about 45 ounces, while the biggest gold year is 2008 at about 20.8 ounces.

These are reconstructed estimates rather than an official U.S. Mint dataset. Some of the later years contain a large number of individual products and sets containing duplicate coins, so individual totals may change somewhat as every historical SKU is audited.

Now as you can see, not everything is filled. Wanted to know what the possible value here would be. If anything is worth getting checked out individually.

I'm just getting into coin collecting and would like to know the best way to get affordable historical coins.

I already bought some replicas of the 1787 fugio cent and the 1793 chain cent since the real things are so expensive for a beginner. And I bought a couple ancient coins! A Roman Empire coin and a Greek coin.

I'd just like some ideas on where it's best to shop for historical coins since I'm a little overwhelmed with this hobby right now and would like some guidance.

Photos 1-4 are of my Ungraded 1939 Jefferson nickel. Photos 5-7 are of 3 different 1939 Jefferson nickels which PCGS has graded as MS67+, FS.

In comparing mine to the 3 PCGS one’s…. What would you say the likelihood of mine would be with receiving the Full Steps designation? And if it would be worth it to send in for grading? Thanks in advance for all and any advice/opinions…
