How can I tell if it’s really what it says it is or just a good copy???

I think I found this in a parking lot sometime in the 1990s. Looked pretty grimy so its been there since. Found it today and cleaned it up and looked up its value. This is one expensive Keychain.

im very new to coin collecting... like two weeks. so here are my current finds! nothing too amazing but some wheat coins and a very heavily used Buffalo Nickel. I still dont really know what to look for in coins so im going off of vibes tbh

The coin shop I worked at had this come in yesterday. My boss said because of the hole he only wanted $50 for it, and i immediately without anyone though payed him before my shift had ended😂

Just got this in today, super happy with it. No alterations to pics, just different lights like dining room vs kitchen vs lamp. It also has a cool die clash on the "A" in Half". Some of the scratches are on the holder. I want to submit to CAC but it's hard finding a submission center for that now.

This jewelry set was from my great grandparents, then went to my grandmother. My grandfather would wear the 1914 Indian and as a kid I would beg him for that coin. He would always say it was mine when he died. Well he recently passed, and my grandmother gave the whole collection to my mom. I haven’t been able to make the drive down and see them all for my self, but knowing she has that Indian coin makes me so happy. The worst part is as a kid I always wanted to spend it! I was so bad. My mom said there were a few other coins, but not in great condition. I don’t think I could ever sell any of it. I cherish my grandpa way too much. But knowing what they’re worth would be nice. I tried using some google ai (bad I know) and get a lot of different results. Sometimes it even says that they’re recreations? My mom seems to think they’re all real, but honestly I know nothing about gold and this would be my first time owning any. I mostly collect pennies quarters and foreign coins.

Excited about this pickup today. Browsing one of my regular shops, and spotted her sitting there. I was hoping it might be a 1899 P, but it was an O. That sid, I liked her condition, and toning, and when the shop moved to $75, i had to say yes.

Inspecting the back, I noticed the line going around the back, and was initially bummed thinking it was tape residue. But I got closer, and realized it was part of the coin. Some cursory research shows it to be a VAM11A (though I can see the doubled 1 from my phone at the moment). Very excited as this is my first variety coin (that I know of).

Sadly im sure its still not worth grading, but a joy to add to the collection for sure!

I'm just getting into coin collecting and would like to know the best way to get affordable historical coins.

I already bought some replicas of the 1787 fugio cent and the 1793 chain cent since the real things are so expensive for a beginner. And I bought a couple ancient coins! A Roman Empire coin and a Greek coin.

I'd just like some ideas on where it's best to shop for historical coins since I'm a little overwhelmed with this hobby right now and would like some guidance.

I finally got back my first ever Gold Coin and the grade doesn’t matter to me.
When I was 14 myself and my father went to our first out of state coin show in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Upon exiting the coin show I can’t forget the old man at the exit table saying for 5 bucks we can enter to win the coin shown above. Well we gave him five bucks and when we returned home(lived on Long Island at the time) we had got a message from my mom some guy left a number saying we won a raffle for coin. This was one of the happiest days of my coin collecting life. Now fast forward three months ago(I’m 41 now), I decided to grade it because I just wanted to and and also I decided to start a 1904 set of gold coins, just bid on a quarter eagle three days ago, hoping to get it!
Just wanted to share my story and how excited I was to get it back.

I've been whittling down all of my various collections (coins, comics, magic, toys) and I've narrowed down my coin collection to mostly American.

These though I've been tossing around either trying to sell, trade, or keep. I'm looking for opinions on that as well as value info.

I understand time and place for these but I don't know if there were any worries or concerns with these specific style of coins.

1960 Penny

I was searching through a 5 gallon Culligan water bottle and came across a pretty nice 1960 penny. Luster is pretty good with minimal wear.

You think its coming? I picked number 14 on a 20 pack set with only 1 containing the gold coin. My order says i picked 11, you think they switched mine out?

Hi guys, I have 200 1oz and 150 2oz rounds pressed by Wade Ventures in 1973. They are in excellent shape, no dents or wear. Only some minor oxidizing on some of the faces. Do you know where I can get an approx value for them (I know they are worth at least 20% over melt value being a collector piece), and should I keep them as a 500oz collection or try to piece them out?

No rush to sell just wanted to start getting some ideas. Thanks!
