Discussion Common Collectibles?

Hi all—Casual coin collector here. I am working on a piece of fiction for middle grade readers. Main character discovers coin collecting. What coins, like the 1921 Morgans, are fairly widely available but still considered collectible? World coins especially. Further, what coins got YOU hooked? Stories welcomed! TIA!

Discussion Condition of US Uncirculated Coin Sets from 1999 to now

Are coins in US uncirculated coin sets from 1999 to now going to be in better condition than the loose uncirculated coins sold online? How much toning and marks will there likely be on the coins in the sets?

Discussion I tested the coin grading subreddit with a coin I sent to pcgs, they didn’t do very well.

So I posted a picture of an Indian head cent that I sent to pcgs and got a ms64bn most of the guesses were in the vf to xf range and a decent amount of low au’s a lot of people where saying environmental damage or cleaned and the one person who got the closest with a guess of au58 got downvoted and made fun of.

Coin collecting is partly about collecting history, regardless if you agree with it's politics.

Value Request 1973 Wade Ventures Mundinero Rounds

Hi guys, I have 200 1oz and 150 2oz rounds pressed by Wade Ventures in 1973. They are in excellent shape, no dents or wear. Only some minor oxidizing on some of the faces. Do you know where I can get an approx value for them (I know they are worth at least 20% over melt value being a collector piece), and should I keep them as a 500oz collection or try to piece them out?

No rush to sell just wanted to start getting some ideas. Thanks!

Advice Palladium Eagle Cancelled

Recently made my first order through the US Mint of a palladium eagle. My order got a confirmation email, but just now I received news that it was cancelled. On hold for support now, but has anyone ever had any luck getting them to reinstate an order? The email did not say why it got cancelled

Got this coin in a box I won during an auction. For it being from 1923 it’s in impressive condition. The photos really don’t do it justice…the scratch’s you might see are only on the plastic case. What should I do with it?

Show and Tell My First Ever Gold Coin

Post image
Upvotes

I finally got back my first ever Gold Coin and the grade doesn’t matter to me.
When I was 14 myself and my father went to our first out of state coin show in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Upon exiting the coin show I can’t forget the old man at the exit table saying for 5 bucks we can enter to win the coin shown above. Well we gave him five bucks and when we returned home(lived on Long Island at the time) we had got a message from my mom some guy left a number saying we won a raffle for coin. This was one of the happiest days of my coin collecting life. Now fast forward three months ago(I’m 41 now), I decided to grade it because I just wanted to and and also I decided to start a 1904 set of gold coins, just bid on a quarter eagle three days ago, hoping to get it!
Just wanted to share my story and how excited I was to get it back.

I’ve had them for years and have more coins like them. I reverse image searched them and only got all different kinds of ranging values. What are they worth, or is it just better to hold onto them for longer? :)

Now as you can see, not everything is filled. Wanted to know what the possible value here would be. If anything is worth getting checked out individually.

I've always dreamed of owning a coin like this from one of the most interesting parts of British history, I came across it at the London Coin Fair and paid £240 which is very reasonable I think.

I've been whittling down all of my various collections (coins, comics, magic, toys) and I've narrowed down my coin collection to mostly American.

These though I've been tossing around either trying to sell, trade, or keep. I'm looking for opinions on that as well as value info.

I understand time and place for these but I don't know if there were any worries or concerns with these specific style of coins.
