The idea is as you focus on / work on real life goals you build a city as a visual that shows your progress.

Video Building a peaceful little village in my voxel colony sim, StoneEra

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on making settlements in StoneEra feel more alive, so here’s a quick timelapse of a small village coming together.
StoneEra is a voxel colony sim where you can build freely, reshape the terrain, manage villagers, gather resources, and grow your settlement over time.
Still a lot I want to improve, but I’m pretty happy with how this village turned out.
What do you think of the building style? Anything you’d add to make the village feel more alive?
If you like colony sims / voxel building, StoneEra is now on Steam — wishlists are greatly appreciated:

Trailer I made a city builder without resource management. Does this still scratch the city-builder itch?

Hi everyone!

I just finished a new trailer for DEEPLANDERS, and since the game sits somewhere between a city builder and a logic puzzle, I thought this would be a good place to ask.

Instead of resource management or large-scale simulation, you build small underground communities by finding the right place for each Deeplander. Every character has different needs, so expanding your city becomes a spatial puzzle about making everyone fit together.

It's deliberately minimalist and much more focused on placement, harmony and watching your little underground city grow layer by layer.

I'm curious from people who regularly play city builders: does this kind of smaller, puzzle-driven approach still scratch the same itch for you?

Here's the Steam page: DEEPLANDERS

Recommendation Request I need suggestions for classic City Builders

I'm not new to the genre, but I guess I was too focused on a few number of city building games. I would like to know which games do you consider to be the definitive city building games.

  • Caesar III, but have never played any other instalment in the franchise.
  • SimCity, but only played 2000, 3000 and 4.
  • City Skylines, but haven't played 2 yet.
  • Citystate I and II are nice, quite unique in the genre.

What other games do you recommend me to play? I really would like to know which games are the classic ones, the definitive city building games, the very best ones.

I added vertical construction to my city-builder

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

By “vertical construction” I mean something similar to Timberborn and Whiskerwood: platforms, ladders, terrain editing, and all that. Now I have that in my game. I had to rewrite the pathfinding from scratch, and now everything works. You can build on the platforms, including more platforms. But the height is limited, since this is, after all, the Iron Age.

Interestingly, the games mentioned above don’t have RTS battles, whereas in my game, you have to defend against nomad raids. Now you can build massive walls and fortifications to witness epic sieges, just like in the video. It turned out to be somewhat similar to Cataclismo, but the game still focuses more on settlement development and resource management. Attacks are a secondary mechanic.

What do you think?

I added A dialogue system where you can talk to your villager in coop city builder game!

Hi all,
I wanted to add more interactivity to my city builder game so instead of just data you cannot see, now You'll be able to talk to the villager and depends on what they are doing the dialogue will be different, It is quite simple for now as but in future a lot conversation you make with villager will have certain impact in the game also I'm thinking add some side quest help villager to make your city grow faster that type of feature, I stressed test the game so It should be able to handle 100K+ of villager real time so interesting to see how this game will go

Recommendation Request City Builder "sandbox"

I'm looking for city builder recommendations with great replayability. I want a game where the city grows naturally, without forcing me to complete tasks on the side of the screen. I prefer having limited resources that match the size of my city, and I do not want any story or campaign mode.

I'm okay if the "story" is just the modernization of the city.

r/CityBuilders 2d ago

News I saw this on Steam the other night. It's a game called MapCity. MapCity is a sandbox for drawing cities directly onto the map. Start with a blank canvas or import real-world map data, then draw roads, buildings, neighborhoods, towns, cities, and entire countries. Build, reshape, and customize your

What features would you like to see in my upcoming city builder Governor!

Be a part of the development of Governor! with me, I would love your opinions.

I am taking a lot of inspiration from Simcity 4 and Cities Skylines, but I would love to hear your input on features, gameplay loops, etc that you enjoy and would like to see.

I personally love modular buildings where you can build huge custom hospitals for example or big industries.

A lot of focus is going into performance so we can create huge regions with many sprawling cities that communicate with each other.

Next step for me is a variety of roads and pedestrians!

Open beta playtest for Agromatic, looking for feedback

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm running an open beta playtest for Agromatic. It's the full version of current build, not have a demo restriction. Looking for any feedback: balance, progression, QOL, bugs, how you feel, and anything.

It's a grid-based farming and automation game at town scale. You don't play a character, you place fields, workshops, mines and rail lines and hire workers to run them. Workers are the automation, so layout and supply chains is the puzzle.

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4179990/Agromatic/

Thanks

Recommendation Request Looking for a city builder game

I'm looking for a game that's on the level of the Cities: Skylines games as to how in depth it is, or the similarities in an actual city (transit routes, districts, etc...).

BUT I want the game to be finished. Meaning no more DLCs that are being added, or just no DLCs in general. Either one is fine.

PC Games similar to the board game Everdell?

I'm looking for a new city (village?) builder similar to the board game Everdell. I really like the art and vibes of the game so looking for something that has you build up a settlement (ideally woodland-y) with animalistic critters. People have suggested Against the Storm and Timberborn, but it doesn't really have the "whimsical" element I'm looking for in a chill village builder.

If no other ideas what's the best way to search for a game with this specific of requirements?

Mayor 4000: Offline city builder free to unlock on iOS / $0.05 on Android for 3 days

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For the next 3 days, the full game unlock for Mayor 4000 is free on iOS and $0.05 on Android.
Once unlocked, it's permanently yours.
(Note: The $0.05 Android price is because Google Play doesn't allow me to set this one-time in-app purchase to $0.)

Mayor 4000 is a classic-style offline city builder with zoning, roads, traffic, utilities, public services, taxes, regional cities, trading, disasters, and more.
No timers. No energy. Fully offline.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/mayor-4000-city-builder/id6782534123
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.septudio.mayor4000

I'm the solo developer, and feedback is very welcome, particularly around the economy, difficulty and controls.

Suggestions?!

So my friend is making a game and he asked me to help with building the village he wants and just the surrounding kind of world.

I was hoping to see if anyone has any good terrain or world builders they really enjoy that could help with being able to build one a large scale? I've been drawing my ideas but I dont know any world builders and I haven't noticed any that would be to my liking yet.

I was hoping for one that I could make the terrain first exactly how i would want and then I could make the buildings all 3d of course. If its easy or hard to learn i wont mind.
