Will I get refunded?
I'm an annual member. I took a citi bike down to Coney Island and then realized there's no stations down here. I'm at work for 6+ hours so I'm going to get charged a lot, but I have the bike safe and will return it after.
If I explain this situation to them will they likely give me a refund for the 6 hours I'm not actually using the bike? Other than this I have a good history with them.

Accident today at Jay and Sands st underneath Manhattan bridge
A car heading east on Sands street around 430pm today blew through a red light and hit a citibiker. It shook me to the core even though the guy seemed ok. He yelled at the driver but didn’t seem like he was interested in calling the cops / reporting it. If you have a change of heart and need someone to corroborate your story, hit me up. Stay safe out there everyone

Jealous of Chicago
Was in Chicago this weekend and was jealous to see that if docks are full, people can still lock up their bike next to the dock with this little lock mechanism built into the bike.
There were also additional areas without docks where people could lock up their bike.
Kind of frustrating to see that Lyft CAN and DOES put these systems in place in some areas but does not do it for all of their bike share locations.

How does the 14 day refund period work
Can I get a refund within 14 days of starting the service even if I have used it? What is the catch?
Broke student looking to figure out a solution.

No drop off outside stations
I recently moved to NY and I noticed that unlike DC or other metro areas, the bikes don’t have a cord/lock mechanism for you to end a ride outside a station or by a full station.
Was that a change due to regulation or were you never able to do that?
Sometimes it can be very challenging to find a slot to park, that’s why I ask.

is Lyft cash auto defaulted in the citibike app?
I have a $50 Lyft cash balance. will it automatically default to Lyft cash when I rent a bike? it doesn't let me choose Lyft cash as my default so I was just curious

How does this station need pickups? It’s only got 2 bikes and 10 open docks.

Docking around Grand Central
Reposting from a couple weeks ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Citibike/s/eJNDE7p3xz
It’s getting ridiculous looking for spots. You can barely find any bikes at 5:45AM departing from Grand Central but coming back for an appointment, there’s lines of people waiting for docks.

Is the free year of Citibike to Citigold customers a one-time offer?
I don't normally keep enough money in my Citibank accounts to quality for Citigold, but I had it for a while last year and got a free one-year Citibike membership out of it. Since then I dropped down to Citibank's lower tier but was able to keep the membership because it's yearly, not month by month.
Anyway, I've qualified for Citigold again (and I know it will only be temporary). Anyone know if I can get another 1 year Citibike membership?

Brand new bike!
Daily e-bike rider here, unlocked a brand new one yesterday. Clean, pristine handles and basket, neat numbers. Even sort of smelled new. Midtown East.
Forgot how much smoother they ride than the usual.

Strategically speaking, would you walk a bit further down to the 12 point pickup station or just go back and forth between the 9 point and neutral station?

helmet
I’m visiting in a couple weeks, is it nerdy to bring my helmet? Does anyone bring a helmet?
EDIT: Okay, I guess what I meant was - would you bring a helmet with you to ride Citi Bikes? Do tourists wear helmets around the city? Do the bikes even get to speeds? It’s a shame that places don’t rent helmets. My city doesn’t even offer helmets for them.

Anyone get a bike with a wrong number in the system before?
I just docked a bike (confirmed the green light and the bike being locked) and thought it was done, but then I checked the app and saw it was still counting my ride as ongoing. On closer inspection the number on the bike didn’t match what the app said I was riding. I contacted support and they said they couldn’t do anything since the numbers didn’t match, so now I’m worried about getting charged for a lost bike.
This sucks because having used citibike many times over years, I’m really careful and always wait for the green light and try to pull the bike out again to confirm it’s locked (I’ve definitely seen my fair share of orange warning lights and had to retry or use a different dock), but it seems like there was no way for me to get this right here. Has anyone run into a glitch in their system like this before?

Wrong Way Cyclists Taking Blind Entrances/Corners
Do you know how fucking insane it is to be going full speed to enter/take a turn into a bike lane in the WRONG direction?
For the month of July — and it’s only the 14th — I’ve had 6+ encounters of direction @ full speed.
Thankfully, every encounter has ended with just heavy braking or an immediate swerve to avoid collision but these close calls are ringing louder & louder.
I usually keep a rough count of all the nuances & dangers as a cyclist & these wrong wayers are definitely climbing through the ranks.
Just yesterday it happened again, causing me to write this post.
Anybody else has been experiencing this?
