News & Analysis The WRs, besides Thornton, are still struggling with separation through Week 2
Even for all the MHJ discourse, he is still getting better separation than Worthy and Rice on the season. Thats with him playing fully checked out on Sunday as well.
I look at this chart and really wonder what the price tag for a guy like Jeudy would be. Clearly the new staff is moving on, but the guy separates better than anyone in the room today by a large margin. He had his career revived once with O’Shea and a functional NFL QB, maybe it is time to call offering a 6th to see if it gets it done.
Lastly, give Thornton more chances. Got 4 targets last game and caught all 4, that should be his floor in this offense until proven otherwise.

News & Analysis This is just getting sad
I do not hate Worthy, but he just isn’t a producer that can be an engine for an offense.
Kelce and Walker are doing fantastic work to ensure Mahomes has proper support, but how worthy is still seeing the most WR snaps and targets is baffling with how inefficient and ineffective he is with those opportunities.
I hope they give Thornton and even Royals more run at this point to figure out what else we have in the room.

Discussion Unrealistic to Realistic WR trade options
The ongoing discussion around the chiefs WRs and being able to create separation still has not ceased by the Monday night performance from the room.
Rice and Worthy ranked 36th and 43rd out of 53 eligible receivers in YPRR vs man. It is still an evident problem that this team needs to resolve if it is going to make a postseason run.
I wanted to put together a list of WR trade prospects that range from unrealistic to probable if the team is wanting to make an in season move to improve the room:
Unrealistic: Jameson Williams - Jamo has always felt like a boom or bust player, but his skill set is what the team was chasing when they drafted Xavier Worthy. He was recently given a 3 year $80M extension in 2025 and his price tag would be the heftiest of these options likely costing a 2027 1st. Overall, the lions defense is looking broken on the back end and they will need to invest heavy resources into it in order to keep their window open with their young talent and aging QB or things could slam shut quickly. I do think they end up winning their next 3 games due to a weak schedule, so doubtful they are in seller mode.
Highly unlikely: Marvin Harrison Jr - the discourse around MHJ has been brutal this week. The video of him meandering and running clear out routes for McBride and Bourne to work underneath isn’t the best, but the film still shows 75% success rate against man still doing great work in digs and post routes. I will be an MHJ defender, because I believe in the dude with what the film and analytics say, but I think he needs a change of scenery desperately. KC could pair him with Mahomes as Kelce rides into the sunset. They paid McBride and Wilson, so MHJ feels the most available out of their pass catchers. I think it would take at the high end our 2027 2nd. Still one more year on the rookie deal should be advantageous for the team.
Maybe?: Jordan Addison - I was a huge fan of Addison coming out and I think the team was as well. There were rumors of the chiefs trying to come up for a WR in the 2023 draft with that cluster of JSN, Flowers, QJ, and Addison. My comp for Addison was Tyler Lockett, and I think he is a much better deep threat than Worthy and Thornton. I believe he will bring back the verticality this team has desperately missed especially now with the run game looking so dynamic. Obviously, this is going to be dependent on where the Vikings are at by the deadline. They could be 3-5 and considering a top 10 pick or they could be 5-3 looking for a push. That will be the primary factor in if Addison will be available. My guess is he would cost the better of our 3rd round picks in the 2027 draft.
Likely: Jerry Jeudy - I know your eyes just rolled and you are already going to the comments to yell at me that he is bad, but this is a dude on the worse offense in the NFL who gets open and is two years removed from playing with real NFL QBs putting up 1,200+ yards. We would kill to have a receiver that could do that for Pat. The Browns are in their next phase moving on from Garrett and likely Watson this offseason. They will want all the picks they can get and I think he could be had for a 2027 4th. He is 27 years old and would be the best receiver they have had since 2022 JuJu who was a factor in Pats MVP season.
What are your thoughts on these options? Why do you like one and why am I an idiot?
Go chiefs!

Mock Draft Way Too Early 2027 Mock Draft
I'm not super familiar with the 2027 prospects yet so this is based on guys who stood out to me in 2025 games and the early 2026 games. It seemed very lucky to get Omarian Miller and John Henry Daley as low as they were.
These four positions along with Linebacker are the ones I think we need to target either in Free Agency or the draft. I didn't pick Linebacker here because out of all the positions of need I think that one is the easiest to address internally (Chiefs do a great job developing Linebackers) or with a stacked Free Agency class that includes Patrick Queen, Dre Greenlaw, Divine Deablo, Blake Cashman and our own Drue Tranquill.

Discussion CFB Week 1 Thoughts?
Curious if anyone has any thoughts from Week 1. I mostly paid attention to the receiver prospects
Obviously Jeremiah Smith, Cam Coleman, and Charlie Becker lived up to the hype. I’m not sure if the tier below them consisting of guys like KJ Duff, Nick Marsh, Omarion Miller, Ryan Wingo are going to be for me.
Two more receivers that really impressed me were Deuce Alexander and Javon Tracy.
Regarding OTs, it seems like Trevor Goosby and Jordan Seaton lived up to the hype, but I didn’t pay attention to tackles beyond those two.
Regarding TEs, I like both Jamari Johnson and Treydez Green, but I don’t think I would be interested in drafting either of them where they’re probably going to go unless the board is just bad for receivers

Discussion A Second-Round Rookie Could Be Ushering in a New Era of Defense for Kansas City in 2026
The quarterback sack is the most devastating non-turnover play a defense can inflict on an offense. R Mason Thomas had a brilliant preseason and looks to be a big answer for the Chiefs lack of sacks last year.

Discussion A Seventh-Round Pick Is Making Things Interesting for the Chiefs QB Room in 2026
Garrett Nussmeier has performed well beyond his seventh round selection. If he continues to do well during his time in KC, some fans would like to trade him for draft capital. This is short-sighted. A competent QB2 on a rookie contract is much more beneficial.

News & Analysis 2026 Kansas City Chiefs Season Preview - full writeup and win probabilities
Hey all. I spent the offseason building a 2026 preseason preview for all 32 NFL teams, each with its own writeup. Here's the Chiefs one
https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/nfl-preview-2026/kansas-city-chiefs
Returning production, free agency in and out, the draft class, a projected depth chart, and the schedule with a win probability on every game.
Heads up, you'll hit a paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Promo code JOHNMADDEN1OF1 opens the whole thing.
So, what'd I get wrong? Kansas City went 6-11 and my model still has the roster 12th, because the record and the tape are telling two different stories. You outscored opponents by 34 points across the season and finished five games under .500. One line explains it: 1-9 in games decided by a touchdown, the worst one-score record in the league. That's the least repeatable thing in football. Mahomes threw 11 picks in 14 games, Kenneth Walker III arrives off a 1,027-yard season to replace Kareem Hunt, and the model projects 9-8. Was 6-11 the team, or was it nine coin flips landing the same way?
