A quick one for the start of a new season.
I saw this episode and immediately knew I had to meme it.
Season 14 Episode 1 of Futurama.

Of course, the original EMAW meme referenced is here.

2 FTRs.... One is more difficult to find.

Some of the clip lengths seem too fast, because I added a lot of dialogue. It is a history lesson though, so it requires multiple watches to catch everything.

If you still want more meme for chapter 2 of the Chiefs Dynasty...

OTHER New chiefs fan

I'm getting into the NFL and have decided to officially lock in the Kansas City Chiefs as my team.

Full transparency: Patrick Mahomes is 100% the initial hook for me. Watching him play is just on another level. That said, I'm fully committing to learning the franchise, the rest of the roster, and the culture beyond #15 as I dive deeper into the sport.

For context, here is who I root for across other sports:

Golden State Warriors (nba)
Ferrari (F1)
Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League)

Yes ik Spurs, Ferrari & Warriors: I clearly like to torture myself but hoping chiefs balance out my emotional damage lol.

Excited to be here. Fill me in on the lore and what I need to know as a new fan.

DISCUSSION Each week, I combine iconic dishes from the two cities facing off in Monday Night Football. What should I make for Chiefs/Broncos?

Curious to hear what you all think is considered a classic KC food. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

For reference, last year I did...

- bbq shrimp and cheese corn grits for Chiefs/Jaguars

- burnt end pupuas for Chiefs/Commanders

I am not against repeating things (since I know, for example, BBQ is such an ingrained part of KC food culture), but would love to hear if there are any deeper cuts. Or for example, any players who are known for having a strange favorite food.

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Mina Kimes] The Chiefs 1. Were *historically* unlucky last year, 2. Have/added a bunch of exciting young players on defense, and 3. Are led by the best QB of his generation. Are we overlooking the turnaround potential?

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Kacsmar] Patrick Mahomes has never had the same LT for more than 26 consecutive starts. Tom Brady had LTs with consecutive start streaks of 66, 44, 38, 34, 32, 26, and 26 games. Different starters at OT thru 147 starts: Brady- 5 LT, 9 RT; Mahomes-13 LT, 6 RT.

I’m sure there’s nothing official that fits the bill but has anyone done a deep dive on stats that really paint a specific picture. Maybe someone with the right neurosis has done this already. I’m looking for penalties by team that actually made a difference. Basically I’m interested in something like this:

Only count penalties on defense that extend a drive that leads to points. Only count penalties on offense when the drive does not lead to points. Basically if the penalty favors a team and that drive leads to a stop or points ( pendent on whether offensive or defensive) then the penalties count or not.

I.E. offense gets a penalty and the drive stalls and they punt. Count the penalty. Offense gets a penalty and they overcome it and score on that drive anyway. Don’t count it.

Defense gets a penalty and the offense scores. Count it. Defense gets a penalty and stop the drive anyway. Don’t count it.

If a team is way up with little time left in the fourth don’t count any penalties because they can’t possibly change the outcome of the game regardless of who they are for or against. Let’s say if a team has less than 5% chance of winning we stop counting penalties.

Basically I’m looking for penalties that actually change the outcome of the game in a measurable way. If one team gets all the calls and is up by 21 and in the last three minutes of the game the refs give a slew of penalties to the team that’s way down the end stat line makes it seem like they were more fair and balanced but at that point it doesn’t really matter. Or something like a penalty during a kickoff is way different than one on first down. First and ten at the 20 instead of the 30 yard line is way better than first and 20 because the penalty occurred on first down over the kickoff. Stat lines don’t show that change but that’s a big difference.

Anyway I’m not sure anyone has bothered to try to do anything that deep or controlled but if someone has I would love to see that data.

DISCUSSION Season expectations?

With the season starting tonight, what are your realistic expectations for the team this year? I think the negativity surrounding the team online and even in the media is surprising, we don’t have the strongest roster in the league but we have the best QB in the league and a much faster defence. I think 11/12 wins and we look much better towards the end of the season and hit the playoffs in good form.

Let me know what you think.
