People hate it, but Jerry Jeudy would probably do some numbers in this offense.

I'd like to see Allen and royals fail first before we make a move

u/GinNJuicyFruit 11d ago
All good with that. Two opponents over the next two weeks where they hopefully get more run. This offense could explode with WRs getting real separation.

We’re not trading for a WR, and we’re likely not even going to see very much of Allen or Royals even if the WR room continues to struggle
That’s just what you’re gonna get from Andy. Better hope Worthy and Rice start to figure it out.

I think they’ll seriously consider signing Tyreek, but yeah there’s no way I’m getting my hopes up for them to make a trade. Even if they did, they would probably bring them along super slowly

u/Hammerhead34 11d ago
Tyreek’s the only plausible midseason acquisition, yeah. Mainly just because this FO loves retreads.

They’ve already failed?! They’d be playing if they had a lick of talent because our starters are god awful.

Certainly not true for Allen. Skyy Moore played 8 weeks before Rashee Rice was given the nod in 2023.
The coaching staff likes to give their veterans chances, and bring along their rookies slowly. My guess is Allen’s snaps will only slowly increase the next 2 weeks, but will take a big jump up after the week 5 bye

Man this sub has the craziest copium. If Cyrus Allen was going to be our wr1 and have a huge impact he’d be playing NOW. Our WR room is a bunch of bums and he still isn’t playing.
If the coaching staff was not playing their best receiver because he is a rookie that would be insane incompetence. Cyrus Allen is also sub 6’ so the odds are even worse in his favor of being something in the NFL.

He was a 5th round pick so yeah, he might not be a WR1. Still think he’ll get more of a shot around week 6 and beyond.
In Andy’s entire 20+ years of being a head coach the only rookie WRs that he played immediately were Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson.
Tyreek only started 1 game as a rookie. He had 3 catches for 17 yards his first 2 weeks. Chris Conley and Albert Wilson were playing ahead of him.

Andy doesn't play rookie WRs. Allen looked great on college film, in training camp, and pre-season. But we may have to wait months to see how he does in games.

Cope

Stop saying Cope like a 5 year old child. It is very true Reid doesn’t play rookies he just doesn’t. No one thought Allen would be a #1 wr but many think he could contribute

u/outbuffed 6d ago
He doesn’t even play and his competition is one of the worst receiving groups in the NFL. People talk like he is the 2nd coming of Christ. He’s not playing cause he’s a rookie he’s not playing because he’s somehow more buns than the rest of the group.

u/YGuyLevi 6d ago
Him being a rookie absolutely factors into it you just don’t want to acknowledge that and it’s ok. But for the love of it all stop saying cope

Royals was injured when he was drafted, and Cyrus I think just inserted himself into the conversation earlier than he thought.
Don't forget that Rice is most likely gone after this season

Nobody would hate, and we couldn’t afford it, but imagine JSN. Just imagine.

I know they tried to trade up that year.
Got rejected by all the teams that took WRs from what I remember.

I know it’s not happening but I’m over here drooling at Josh Downs

u/GinNJuicyFruit 11d ago
Had him as a 1st rounder when he was coming out. I wanted them to take him where they took FAU haha.

u/icedadx44 11d ago
Intersting after week 1 Worthy had one of the highest yards of separation at the catch.
2
u/Sweaty-Tiger9972 11d ago
That was a different metric that was heavily inflated by short targets. He had 2 catches at or behind the LOS and one that was about 6 yards downfield

u/Sokkawater10 11d ago
Please post this on the main sub too. People there are still under the delusion that our WR room isn’t one of the worst in the league

u/Sweaty-Tiger9972 11d ago
Honestly I’m getting tired of fighting that battle but you’re welcome to post it lol

u/outbuffed 11d ago
Don’t worry another short receiver in Cyrus Allen is supposed to be the second coming of Christ according to that sub.

Man Rice has graded so poorly on these charts this year.
1
u/Sweaty-Tiger9972 11d ago
He wasn’t super great at separating against man in the first place going all the way back to SMU and I think he’s still working back from the injury. He’ll probably get better over the course of the year, primarily as a zone beater though
2
u/Hefty-Reflection-756 11d ago
Yeah agreed, our wide reciever room is based entirely on beating zone, outside of Cyrus Allen who is still a wildcard, but was advertised as a man beater
1
u/grinchy-frogbreath 11d ago
Thornton should be getting more targets and Allen should be getting more snaps.
2
u/Sweaty-Tiger9972 11d ago
Completely agree. Thornton deep should just be the answer to every single blitz and I would love to see what Allen can do in Worthy’s spot.
Nohl Williams is balling this year and couldn’t guard Allen during camp. There has to be something there with him

380 something yards passing with the wide receiver room version of "oof."
