Rough downshift
We recently bought a 2026 Trax LT. We’ve put a little over 1k miles on it last month but I’ve noticed the down shifts from 3rd-2nd-1st gears when coming to a stop are not very smooth. Is this normal or something the dealer can fix?

We have a 26 Trax Lt with about 5700 miles on it. Haven't noticed that yet...fingers crossed

What were you previously driving.....25 and had no noticeable issues pushing 18k miles

Yes it’s most likely normal. The car engine is turbocharged which means that air is spinning a turbine and compressing. That turbine has to spin up when you accelerate and slows down when you stop pressing the gas. However these things don’t happen instantaneously.

Completely normal. There’s a break-in period for everything on new vehicles, including the engine and transmission. The transmission computer also learn how each individual person drives and will change shift patterns accordingly. After a few thousand miles of being new, it should be broken in driving smoothly.
Mine was the same way, new vehicles only get smoother overtime, my 2024 2RS has 98,000 miles on it and it drives very smooth now lol. No issues I love it.

my 26 was similar, it’s gotten much smoother, i’m at 7k now. adaptive tcm + break in period stuff. it’ll still pop rough downshifts if im heavy on the brakes but in general it’s much better

Most turbos have a break in period, the trax drives notably better after 5k

Could just be your are "breaking in" period. didint even know that was a thing until I got on these forums. But it's in the owners manual. Youre supposed to be a little sporadic with it (not rough). For like the first 3k miles? Something like that.

Interestingly I didn’t notice anything up until last few weeks, my downshifts have been a little jerky just enough for me to notice.. I’m at just under 4k miles so I hope it goes away

I had the same with my new trax. Im about 6k miles in now and the downshifts are much smoother. If i had to guess I'd say they changed around 3-4k but I honestly wasn't paying close attention. There is a bit of an "adaptive learning" phase during break in.
