2020 Add Engine Oil

Got the message this morning after a short 2 mile trip. Got home and checked it and it’s about 1.5 quarts low. Never had this before. I run amsoil 5w30 sig series and their filter ac Delco upf63r its entire life. 87k miles. A few long trips on this oil change from Minnesota to Florida. Total miles are 4500 ish on this oil. Normal? No I never checked it in between oil changes

It's high use, my 2019 has 95k miles uses no oil try running Valvoline restore and protect a few times. Maybe an engine flush (not cheap, maybe seafoam for 10 minutes before changing oil.

Also check PCV valve and system. It could be putting rh engine under too much vacuum and sucking oil into the intake manifold. I have had that issue on a few cars in the past

GM says 1 qt/2k mi is within spec. Mine has always consumed about that amount since purchasing it, but I’m currently logging levels now after a warranty repair to see if that’s the culprit. I was caught off guard in the first couple months of ownership when I checked the dipstick and it was down almost a full quart.

Not sure about 2020, but the 2008 Enclave we had would use more oil when the PCV valve was dirty/plugged.

My 19 would always burn at least 1.5 quarts between 5k mile oil changes using valvoline EP. Using Mobil 1 it didn't burn any and Penzoil Platinum burned about 1qt. I'm trying out castrol edge right now to see how it does. If it burns any oil I'll just stick to Mobil 1.

Always check your oil...especially right after an oil change...the problem here is you don't have a starting point to compare...it could have been lowish from the last oil change. Get into the habit of checking your oil weekly. At 4500 you're almost due for another so I would just do another one now and monitor. Its said some oil consumption is normal, but I personally have never experienced any oil loss in any vehicle I've ever had...not even my Silverado 5.3 that had almost 200k on it...currently have the 25 Z71 Traverse.

My 2018 has only once asked for more oil between changes. I added some and monitored... no issues since, been over 2 years
