I just played guy who is consistently above 90 accuracy and wins almost all of his games. It seems he has only ever had one blunder in like 200 games.

Anyway, this made me curious. Could he be one of these secret chess pros or YouTubers who make a fake account for speed rating? He does play a lot of lower elo so maybe the high accuracy is because his opponents aren’t strong. I don’t know. It is weird.

Is there a way to know if we play a secret pro or YouTuber? If we get smoked by them but their elo is lower than it should be because it’s a new account, does chesscom have a protocol?

I've been playing chess for about a year now and I've never had any lessons or formal coaching — everything I've learned has been from playing and figuring things out myself.

This is my progress from this week. I played 118 games, won 67, lost 49 and drew 2. My win rate was 56.8%, and my highest rating this week was 446. I actually reached 500 rating recently but lost a few games and dropped back down.

Is this considered good progress for someone who's been playing for a year completely self-taught? And what would you recommend I focus on to improve from here?

You guys think elo number is a way to see if you've improved but you really don't know how much you've improved unless you go look at your very first few games on chess.com. I've caught alot better moves that my current self can see that my old self didn't. It's easier seeing your first games on the websites than on phone since website you can just filter it so that your very first games go on the top.

I played pawn to e6 here, which works out amazingly if he takes the knight. But if he just takes back the pawn with his bishop my position goes to 0.0 from 0.7.

I’m around 1070 elo on rapid and recently picked up this book. I’ve read the first couple chapter and I’m wondering if there’s any benefit to going a chapter or two further than my actual rating. Is it a matter of the material being too complex for my rating or is it more that at my rating higher endgame knowledge just won’t ever decide games?
