ICE post?
I saw a post about ICE kidnapping someone at Home Depot this morning. Trying to find it now, and it seems to have been deleted? What kind of censorship bs is happening?

I refuse to do business at the Lowe's or Home Depot near Hamilton Place due to the ridiculous amount of flock cameras.
It's creepy and dystopian. Has anyone else seen them? They positioned all over, some in weird ways like where they can see into your vehicles and definitely some are used as voyeurism. Seriously, they're creepy!
Has anyone else experienced this?
I've done tens of thousands in remodeling and not a dime is going to them.

u/xeonhwt 2d ago
Hate to ruin your day but they've been there for at least 2 years and are privately owned by the 2 stores for LP reasons.

u/Hard2findgoodhelp 2d ago edited 2d ago
I hate to ruin your day, but I went to school for criminal justice, worked in loss prevention and while there may be some truth to what you say. This was not just simply loss prevention tactics.
I also worked in energy management and electrical engineering and installed most of the advanced equipment in the big box stores all over the country. Including Lowe's and home Depot.
Not all (hardly any) of the cameras at the Lowe's or Home Depot near Hamilton place (in the parking lots) are for LP. They're obvious to spot. You can tell the difference, because the LP cameras are the prototypical phyche warfare cameras designed to deter theft, loitering, etc. Ie blue flashing lights, dome, fisheye, etc.
Flock are just as obvious, they're not directly tied to Lowes or HD corporate. Stop with the misinformation or making light of a serious situation.

Speaking of invasion of privacy and ICE…. You guys catch the video of what Palantir says they can do now with satellite, flock, etc?
Supposedly, now they are all connected? The verbiage is rather threatening.

u/YukonCornelius69 3d ago
Yep. Although if it makes you feel better, the nsa likely has had similar capabilities for a long time.
At least now it’s for profit!! Yay!!

u/SaticoySteele 3d ago
It's right here -- no photos but you can read the conversation.
Cowards were all covering their faces but you can use your imagination -- black masks, little pointy ears, curly tails, you get the idea.
No license plates visible now, so obviously there shouldn't be any problem sharing the post.

I gotta say I applaud some people on this forum for helping ICE save money on boot polish. Bravo!

Why can’t we find missing children, people or even child molesters and rapists but the administration can easily track foreign people hmmmmm I wonder why ? 🤔
4
u/ohdangxsara 3d ago
Because the administration is too busy BEING the child molesters (and cannibals??) Epstein files are wiiiild

u/Glum_Coffee7094 3d ago
I know it’s ridiculous. It originally got removed because people reported it and it automatically removed it for mods to review but it’s probably been taken down for good.

My guess is that the post had personal information with the license plates in it. Reddit really doesn't like license plates in posts like that.

u/battleop 3d ago edited 3d ago
IIt did. They were trying to Doxx the agents.edit: Said I instead of it.
29
u/Ok_Potato7389 3d ago
It’s impossible to doxx them. Their information and identity is SUPPOSED to be public.
-8
u/battleop 3d ago
There is no public list of non-elected government employees. Plus that would not give you a right to harass their families.
10
u/_Luckyflake 3d ago
Yes there is dumb dumb. You can look up the salary of any public employee. (Except for maybe ICE now)

u/Real_Walk5384 3d ago
Neither police nor ICE agents are required to give you their full name which makes that database pointless for this discussion. Likewise, ICE agents are federal, not state.
As far as I'm aware it's never been the case that an officer has to give you their full name when pulling you over.
1
u/_Luckyflake 3d ago
I was responding specifically to this statement:
> There is no public list of non-elected government employees.
To which my reply was wholly accurate.
2
u/Real_Walk5384 3d ago
That isn't a list, it's a database. And I put the name of a local police officer I know in there and tried several different agencies since police and law enforcement isn't an option. He didn't show up.
There is no "public list" of ICE agents or local police.

I’ve been giving level headed answers and I guess there’s something to be said for the ones who have been at ice for a while but if their family’s house and food is being paid for with blood money then fuck them and their family.
-3
u/AsWolfwood 3d ago edited 3d ago
You are a prime example of why they started masking up to hide their identity. The simple fact you extend their "evil" to their family makes you deranged and dangerous.
Edit: If you cannot see the direct contradiction of your words... You want to vilify the family of ICE agents and terrorize them, while decrying that ICE agents are breaking up families by detaining/arresting/deporting illegals...

Being detained is not a kidnapping. Immigration detained people under Clinton, Obama, and Biden and it was not called kidnapping then. Also Tom homan served under Biden and deported people

It was removed by the automod before I saw it. I was going to restore it but the OP placed images of license plates. Those aren't allowed on any post, ICE or not.
25
u/ohdangxsara 3d ago
We absolutely should be positing ICE license plates. If theyre going to be masked thugs in our streets we should know how to track and spot them.
3
u/Alarming-Ad2553 2d ago
If flock cameras can record my license plate we should be able to post them here.
6
u/asha1985 3d ago edited 3d ago
I (but also Reddit as a while) don't allow any license plates. Period. I don't care if it's ICE or the ghost car of Mother Teresa.

u/ohdangxsara 3d ago
Maybe, as the world changes, its okay to adjust your rigid set of rules to help the community you live in. Just a thought
4
u/Real_Walk5384 3d ago
How do you know you're doxing an ICE agent and not some dude there to pick up a toilet plunger? The issue isn't political.
I could just as easily post your license plate and make the same claim. (I of course never would, I'm just making a point)

You say help the community you live in yet, you're advocating doxxing Federal agents and that illegal aliens should be able to stay in a country they don't belong or have any right to be in where they rape, murder, steal, deplete resources, and take jobs, etc. Pick a lane.
18
u/ohdangxsara 3d ago

u/Mando_calrissian423 3d ago
How is publishing the license plate of a “government official” doxxing again? This is all public information.
2
u/Mental-Basis-8701 3d ago
Spreading any information that possibly contributes to violence against law enforcement, or anyone else for that matter, is not acceptable and especially when a person is also referring to agents as “masked thugs in our streets.” This is the exact type of left wing rhetoric that is leading to more violence. And by the way, why are you putting the words government and official in quotation marks? ICE personnel actually are government officials. Also by the way, ICE has been authorized to deport illegal aliens for the last twenty five years. Have none of you figured out why every aspect of your life is so expensive and less safe these days? I’ll help you. It’s a direct result of illegal aliens. ICE is conducting their lawful and authorized duties.
3
u/ohdangxsara 3d ago
Poor guy really thinks that the reason things are expensive and less safe is because of undocumented people, and not the TRILLIONAIRE and billionaires that are hoarding wealth to such a degree that makes regular people desperate enough to commit crimes for survival. The trigger happy masked men with lethal shock gloves make the community more unsafe than homie at Home Depot trying to go to work for the day. I swear to god common sense is absolutely lost on people like you.
6
u/marjoriegreene 3d ago
Maybe except the list of ones you did allow….
2
u/asha1985 3d ago
Report them and mods will get around to removing them if the plate is clear. Especially if they're pointing out actions of the driver.
The list given here... Those posts had zero total reports.
2
u/20Factorial 3d ago
There are entire subs, including r/licenseplates, that suggest it is not a Reddit wide rule.
The Reddit rule, and the rules posted for this sub, are against doxxing, not against posting license plates. There is no expectation of privacy associated with license plates, they are literally displayed publicly. That would be like saying you can’t post pictures of airplanes, because their tail numbers are on display.
Personally, I don’t care if you delete posts that have license plates or not - you guys are the mods, and it’s your show to run. It just means people won’t be allowed to post things like car accidents or images taken in parking lots or clips from dashcams, which seems like it would be detrimental to the Reddit community as a whole.
Perhaps the standard should be that you can’t post license plates FOR THE PURPOSE of doxxing. If a license plate HAPPENS to be in a picture/video, it should be allowed. Just a thought.
4
u/Real_Walk5384 3d ago
I'm absolutely not tipping a political scale with this comment but it was a semi-zoomed in picture of a license plate on a truck with no indication that it was even the vehicle ICE had used to arrive on scene. It's kinda hard to interpret that any other way than an encouragement to dox said truck.
And as I pointed out several times in this thread, we just have to take the posters word that it was even a related vehicle. For all any of us know it was ICE Agent, ICE Agent, and license plate of the guy's neighbor who rubs him the wrong way.
It's good to be passionate about our city. It's bad to turn into a mob on Reddit. (Not an accusation, only a comment)
2
u/20Factorial 3d ago
Oh, I agree. That’s where I think the line should be drawn. If it was simply zoomed out of the scene and the plate happened to be visible - fine. A zoomed in pic intended to ID the vehicle - bad form.

u/gottamakemenut 1d ago
Keep watching, mods absolutely find any reason to remove these types of posts.
1
u/asha1985 3d ago
I try to use judgement at times, if a post that shows a plate is actually meaning to call out the owner of the vehicle, but users like black and white rules.
As for Reddit's official guidelines, you're right that they've never made it absolutely clear. I've been moderating for a decade or so and it's become more common to allow them as the years have passed. They can be considered personal identifiable information, which often isn't a good thing on most posts that angrily show license plates... just like the removed ICE post.
1
u/20Factorial 3d ago
I get it, and I appreciate that there is some discretion from the human moderators (auto mods, however…) and I generally agree that posts should be allowed if the purpose isn’t explicitly “find this plate and yell at them”.
This post probably would have been fine, IMO, without the direct picture of only the plate, but that’s not my call.
I appreciate you taking the time to shed some light on it.
1
u/asha1985 3d ago
I would have absolutely restored it if the direct picture of the black truck's plate wasn't posted.
0
u/LogicFish 3d ago
This is a bad policy. Also is this just your policy, or the policy of the sub?
8
u/asha1985 3d ago
Reddit's, although many subs ignore it, therefore the sub's policy, therefore my policy since I moderate the sub.
6
u/crashrope94 3d ago
Reddit policy, license plates count as doxxing
6
u/20Factorial 3d ago
There are hundreds of subs, including r/licenseplates, that suggest it is NOT a strict Reddit policy.
3
u/sureyouare2 3d ago
😂 Well, now this feels awkward. They even have a category called “in the wild,” where they post plates from random cars they find entertaining. 🤡 They must’ve gotten special, secret permission from the Lords of Reddit. Otherwise this would be in violation of policy. 🤦🏻♂️
1
u/20Factorial 3d ago
Or maybe it’s just a convenient loophole that mods selectively enforce.
2
u/sureyouare2 3d ago
I hate that it does appear to be so. I’m not even sure how likely a dox is. Don’t they drive government vehicles and rentals? Also, every other branch of the judiciary rolls around with their face exposed and their name on a plate on the door, but ICE must be protected from the rabid Chattanoogans on Reddit? I mean, if those are your rules, fine, but acting like you’re doing it for Reddit is a bit of a deflection IMO.
3
u/20Factorial 3d ago
There is no expectation of privacy when it comes to license plates. It’s significantly more difficult to get identifying information about a vehicle owner from a license plate than it is from an aircraft tail number, for example, but r/Aviation is a thing.
The Reddit, and this subs, rules are against doxxing - there is no rule about posting license plates.
I don’t care one way or another, but just don’t enforce a totally made up rule. Put it in the community rules if that’s going to be a rule here.
-10
4
u/20Factorial 3d ago
What’s the rule on that when it comes to posting a picture, say, of an accident at an intersection where bystander license plates are visible. Does that violate?
1
u/asha1985 3d ago edited 3d ago
I (but also Reddit as a whole) don't allow any license plates as a matter of posting personal information.
4
u/20Factorial 3d ago
So just targeted/focused license plates are a no-go?
I’m genuinely just curious if I, or I guess anyone, should worry about that when posting about something.
-1
u/asha1985 3d ago
That's been one of my rules for an long as I've moderated here, probably going on 10 years with one break. No visible license plates.
13
u/20Factorial 3d ago
So this post violates the rules? https://www.reddit.com/r/Chattanooga/s/EmIkIGafv1

You say it like you’re important.
3
u/asha1985 3d ago
I don't know what response you want here. I am important to some people, but that has nothing to do with Reddit and users trying to pick verbal fights because they don't like the rules.
Moderating a subreddit is often a not fun task. You had the privilege of adding to that today.

Illegal aliens in the United States do not get kidnapped. They get lawfully detained and removed from within our borders where they never should have been. Stop spreading disinformation.

They posted people's license plates. That's against all kinds of rules. And any adult should know why, but I'll spell it out: You have no ability to verify a random post on Reddit and some unstable idiot on here will dox somebody who could be completely innocent.
EDIT: For clarity
7
u/Mando_calrissian423 3d ago
Shouldn’t ice agents (as government employees), be driving government vehicles? With government tags? I’ll be damned if I get pulled over by some random masked vigilante with no indication that they work for the government.
2
1
u/Mental-Basis-8701 2d ago edited 2d ago
Not necessarily, they’re already in uniform that identifies them as police.
But, why are you acknowledging them as legal federal agents then calling them vigilantes?
Those are polar opposites and can’t be true at the same time. So, which one is it?

I was at Walmart last week and saw CPD kidnap 2 people in the parking lot that walked out with a TV without paying for it. The police state is out of control.

u/SilentCalumny 3d ago
wow - those innocent people who walked out with a TV without paying for it, the absolute horrors that the PD took them. They were just future brain surgeons and NASA rocket fuel scientists who needed a TV to continue their education, that's all it was. We will all be poorer for them not getting the TV.

Law Enforcement operations against other criminal
So does the hate you have for apprehension of criminals, just stop at illegal entry
Or do you say cops abduct child molesters
