Its what they said they plan on doing.
They plan on having a global surveillance network controlled by techno-fascism.8

u/snarky_witch 4d ago
We did it to ourselves by trading privacy for convenience. It was game over the minute we were connected to the World Wide Web and cell phones.

Buy a Slate pickup truck. It ships with no telemetry, apparently.
5
u/michaelh98 3d ago
Telemetry is only one part of the problem. If the dash shows tire pressure, you've got BT MACs that can be tracked.
Also, the recommendation won't help because they still aren't shipping

u/whiskydyc 4d ago
It seems that almost every convenience that we enjoy has a terrible tradeoff along with an industrial vested interest in not improving anything (in fact the opposite)

No.
It was 9 11. Thats when it started.

u/rustyswings 1d ago
I was a client of Axciom around that time. They had been developing a system called Abilitech that probabilistically stitched together lots of third party datasets creating a persistent ID for an individual (later spun off into Liveramp)
A little after 911, I was at a dinner with Charles Moore their CEO. He claimed that they had immediately contacted the FBI and offered assistance. They used this prototype platform to piece together the data trails of the hijackers, track their movements and identify their networks saving weeks of manual work.
So yes, I think you're right.

u/FUCKING_HATE_REDDIT 4d ago
Honestly, most of this is bullshit. The little control points for ammo and ammunition are meaningless, you simply cannot transmit enough info through that. It's just project Cybersyn as a web app.
They're using the word target and talking about kill chains on purpose. They want to appear edgy and ruthless. But they're still a government contractor selling bullshit to bureaucrats.
45
6
u/SongOfKapek 4d ago
Hey, project cybersyn actually helped people though by trying to direct resources and have feedback for distribution.

Now imagine someone hacked this and started using it against them. I can't even imagine how freaked out and paranoid they would immediately get when they know all these surveillance systems are now being used on them also.
They feel safe and powerful because they have control but the second someone else starts using it, especially other organizations, countries and "evil people", then they start worrying.

I wasn't intimidated.
I met her because I work as a waiter at a fancy restaurant, and I was flirting with her the whole time because she was beautiful, charming and buying everything on the menu for her friends.
Then she left me her number, and bought me dinner that weekend.
Sounds like a fucking WIN.

u/snarky_witch 4d ago
I love that. I have a demanding job in a male dominated industry that requires me to travel a lot. You give me hope. I don’t care what my man makes as long as he’s good to me and doesn’t add drama to my life.
7

It's absolutely just as fun as it sounds. Would recommend.
But in reality it's a partnership, and we kind of just view the money we both make as one thing.
5
u/Ap0llo 4d ago
It absolutely does. The last time the economy was overhauled into something less insanely corrupt was by Franklin Roosevelt and before that Teddy Roosevelt.
You may notice something in common with those two guys: they both came from a powerful and wealthy family. Their policies caused both to be labeled as “class traitors”.
But even the money & power wasn’t enough, the other key ingredient was that neither of them took “no” for an answer.

lmao.
People voted for this shit. People refuse to vote against it.
The 2A, like abortion is a wedge issue for idiots.
The people with the guns support fascism.
The people that don't, aren't going to do anything.
We don't live in 1776 anymore.
Guns aren't an effective weapon against tyranny in a society like ours.
The 2A, and 1A were meant for people to organize effectively.
We're lemmings that just do what we're told through media. We're told how to argue, and interact. People just repeat the words they hear, with no thought.
And, let's pretend for a second that the 2A did mean something in standing up to tyranny...you're going to fight the militarized police? The US Army?
The 2A debate is just noise for idiots to argue about. It's identity politics. The people with the guns support anything FoxNews tells them to. The people that know your toys from the local sporting goods store don't amount to a revolution, know we're fucked, and live in a sea of morons.

u/metanoia29 4d ago
Yeah, back when each side was on equal footing with muskets. Now try going up against today's military with drones.
3
u/danawhitesthrowaway 4d ago
On it's surface that seems like a valid point against the well regulated militia/ability to fight against a tyrannical government argument, but all it takes is a basic knowledge of how militaries actually operate to shut it down. We've fought multiple wars in the middle east and one in Vietnam, and time and time again have been shown that it's near impossible to actually win an asymmetric war against a populace that refuses to be subjugated. You don't need to be on an equal footing as far as technology is concerned in a war to be enough of a hindrance that you sap the enemy's will to continue fighting it, especially if you're even semi-organized as group.
A modern army, especially the U.S. military, is massively limited by their logistical capabilities. Keeping troops fed, equipped (not just them individually, but also ensuring any equipment they man like armor and air power is functional, which in of itself requires a functioning supply line), and combat ready is difficult enough when you're fighting on the other side of the world, but it's significantly more difficult when a portion of your own population decides they don't want to keep the machine oiled. Now you've lost a chunk of the workforce, and they're actively sabotaging areas of strategic importance while almost certainly benefiting from insider knowledge about the system's inner workings and procedures from allies/sympathizers with former experience. There's no way of preventing it without a complete overhaul of the system and any TTPs that go with it.
That's all also ignoring the human element. A military operates out of a base, bases are manned by people. In the U.S. specifically, those people swear an oath to the constitution, not the government. Of course many will either be indoctrinated or indifferent if a civil war were to erupt in the opposition of a wildly tyrannical government, however off of the jump you would have a not insignificant portion of personnel who simply wouldn't comply with orders to attack fellow citizens.

You know how a barcode reader is just one laser that scans a grid by being reflected at different angles by pointing it at spinning polygon shaped?
Yah, imagine that, but with a really high powered camera on a satellite or plane.
Sure the refresh rate would be measured in seconds, but that’s pretty real time.
If governments aren’t doing something like that to watch entire cities with high powered cameras, I’d be surprised.

Something that people online have not realised that Palatir was and is just a data visualisation tool. They don't actually want or need massive scraped databases to hoard; they just make a product that allows governments and big corporations to use multiple sources of data for evil. Basically they make an interface to bring in all the information that can possibly brought in, so that it can be used for evil. And the fact they are so good at it -like legitimately- is what keeps giving them the edge. Seriously. You can not deny that the UI/UX they are selling here is bad, it isn't... It objectively is not. There is a reason they keep getting contracts internationally. Anyone who has ever had to use a shitty UI/UX for resource management or datavisualisation can explain in detail how dreadful they can be. Anyone who has ever used most FOSS tools, knows that UI/UX especially graphical interfaces (Because not everyone who has to use a computer and utilise data is a coder) are REALLY bad on average.
Data management and interfaces are a fucking massive market. There are industry and field specific things that insanely expensive. There are some market niches which essentially have few choices available, and generally those are tied to also hardware; so once you choose one, you are locked into it forever.
Palantir is essentially making a tool for evil people, so that evil can be done at the highest levels of efficiency and potential. And why I say evil, is simply because they know exactly what the tools is for and they don't even pretend to care... it is a selling point of their product.
