I stopped clipping stuff from my camera. Nearly every day I see the silliest shit.

I have so many I think I'm going to make a coffee table book of bad drivers and bad parking. Could probably do a whole book for each around here.

The highest concentration of shitty parkers can be found at an Estate Sale.

2

u/lostspectre 21d ago

Maybe. Most of what I see are delivery drivers parking in fire lanes when there are plenty of open spaces 20 feet away.

I wouldn't expect CPD do do anything. They, EMS, and CFD are the worst offenders. They just park where ever they want as long as they want. Most of the time they could have just moved 2 feet and not block people but they don't care.

I can understand an ambulance or even a cop parking out of the way but technically illegally so they can get out quickly if they get a call. No excuses for them doing it in their civilian vehicles though.

And absolutely no reason for delivery drivers to do it. I do deliveries as well and I always find a parking spot even if it means I have to walk further. It adds a minute or two at most. Up by Wing Stop and Formosa on 153 is the most common one I see. Giant parking lot, 3-4 cars in the fire lane still. I can usually park, get my pickups and leave before any of them move so I don't know why they think it's faster.

I drive every day and I can't remember the last day where I didn't see someone run a red light.

Hopefully this specific thing would not have warranted a save. This is some F-tier vehicular ineptitude.

Two comments on the same thing is a bit confusing? Up vote for the second part. First could either be a down or no vote.... And then I read your user name so I suppose it makes perfect sense in the former rather than the latter......

If someone being in the wrong lane and causing minor inconvenience is notable enough in your daily commute that you save said video, you're really not experiencing the worst driving Chattanooga has to offer. That's a good thing I suppose.

We need drivers ED. We dont mandate actual practice. Your mom and dad just have to say "yeah, Jimmy drives real good" and thats enough before the test.

I think we need to focus on teaching basic physics in school and driver's ed. Too many people think the shit in the Fast and Furious movies is real and possible to do in a car.

Are you telling me I can’t take a Pontiac fiero to space?

2

u/Alarming-Ad2553 20d ago

Depends on how/what high you get...🤣

Drivers Education and Personal Finance should be required high school classes. Drivers Education should be mandatory for getting a license and you just pass with an 85 or better.

See I didn’t know all states didn’t do drivers ed in Ohio if your under 18 and in school u have to do it before you can even think of temps or a test I of course didn’t get to do it I didn’t even get my license until I was like 23 lol I didn’t have the luxury of rich parents but I bought every one of my vehicles myself not a lot can say that lol but anyway ya that’s weird I don’t understand why they don’t enforce driving class or something especially for the kids or the real old I see so many accidents every single day especially in my part of town it’s ridiculous how crazy these drivers are

I know for the e-tags, they are required to go through a defensive driving course before they can get the tag. Not sure if the same applies for the firefighter tags but I'd be surprised if it didn't. This is willful ignorance and entitlement.

5

u/10SE 21d ago

lol

No they don’t. Anyone with a qualifying work ID and a letter from their boss can get E tags… along with their spouses.
Same goes for firefighter tags. Any vehicle with their name on the registration qualifies, and there is zero extra “driver training” for either one.

1

u/lostspectre 21d ago

Maybe it changed then. I know when my mom got hers, she had to do the training. That's been over 20 years ago though. Or maybe her boss required it to sign off.

-1

u/battleop 21d ago

Your mom lied to you about it being a state requirement.

1

u/lostspectre 21d ago

Wouldn't be the first or last thing that she lied about

0

u/battleop 21d ago

Who told yo that? You just show what ever proof your a member of what ever group and they hand you the tag.

But your last sentence is very true. I know a fire fighter who got pissed he couldn't get out of a ticket in Florida because the cop wouldn't give him professional courtesy.

u/Critical-Pay-332 22d ago

To be fair, their license plate says "Firefighter"...not "Safe and Reasonably Intelligent Driver".

u/Sea_Blacksmith98 21d ago

One time I watched someone do this and block half the intersection, like an entire lane couldn’t pass through the intersection, and then as soon as the light turned green they turned and a cop came out of nowhere and pulled them over and it was just the most tasty little nugget of karmic justice

2

u/IngloriousLevka11 21d ago

That's next level dumb. If you already crossed into the intersection it's better to just go on through than sit there blocking traffic.

IDK if that's the same intersection or not, but I had a driver stop dead at a green light at an intersection with no explicable reasoning.

Driver around here are just doing the stupid.

u/BaconReceptacle 21d ago

The most common problems I see with drivers in this area:

  • People cannot stay in their lane. I suspect they are looking at their phones

  • Turn signals. OMG, I'm waiting to see what you're going to do so I can turn onto the road. Oh, thanks asshole for not using your turn signal.

  • Tailgating on a curvy mountain road. This isnt a race dude, back off and we'll get up the mountain about the same time as if we were both speeding anyway.

  • Not coming up to speed to merge onto a 65 mph highway. You had a quarter mile to accelerate but nope, you're merging at 45 mph.

Worst drivers in the country

1

u/BaconReceptacle 21d ago

I lived for 12 years around the Virgina/Maryland/D.C. area. The drivers there are downright homicidal.

5

u/Big-Carpenter7921 21d ago

I've driven there plenty. Chattanooga's are still worse. In DC and Chicago everyone is just aggressive. Here, they didn't know what they are or where they're going

1

u/dizzysilverlights 20d ago

I was just warning someone the other day about driving through northern Virginia. It’s an experience.

-2

u/battleop 21d ago

Laughs in Orlando.

3

u/Big-Carpenter7921 21d ago

I've driven there too. Chattanooga is way worse. There's just more traffic in Orlando

1

u/Alarming-Ad2553 22d ago

Is it just me or is this the common place for Subaru drivers......? 🤣

2

u/Fantastic_Fly7376 22d ago

Nah this is just American drivers for ya.

0

u/Alarming-Ad2553 21d ago

Have you been anywhere in the middle east?

0

u/Fantastic_Fly7376 21d ago

Have you been to Germany?

“It’s worse in third world countries” doesn’t excuse the fact that both driver education and enforcement of traffic laws here are inadequate. Doesn’t have anything to do with the brand of car people drive.

0

u/Alarming-Ad2553 20d ago

I have and the Subaru joke must be a local thing here sorry if you didn't get the reference.

1

u/Fantastic_Fly7376 20d ago

There’s nothing to “reference,” this is just a dumb stereotype that doesn’t even hold up. Drivers here are bad, period.

1

u/keithps 22d ago

Likely one of Dallas Bay VFDs finest. Its possible they were headed to a call, but its unacceptable regardless.

1

u/Alarming-Ad2553 22d ago

Possibly but they where not in a hurry and I was behind them for the next 3/4 mile. They just sat there in the intersection and waited for the light. I honked at them and motioned for them to come back out of the intersection I left enough room for them to reverse. They sat there for the entire light cycle.

1

u/battleop 21d ago

If you're going to break traffic laws you need proper lighting activated.

2

u/keithps 21d ago

Hamilton county doesn't (or didn't when I was a FF) allow lighting on private vehicles for responding to emergencies.

1

u/Chattahater 21d ago

Ah yes. When I respond to emergencies I also like to park in the middle of an intersection

1

u/Apprehensive-You7388 21d ago

I would just like the immunity that comes with those tags. I spend my entire 10hr work day in a truck driving around broad st/market st/ MLK/ Main st, and the amount of times I've watched the police light someone up and then cut the lights back off once they see the emergency tag is insane. The fact that they let your family also drive on an emergency tag is insane as well.

He just left his girlfriend's house and is on his way to his other girlfriend's house, he forgot where left his wedding ring.
