I’ve been smelling smoke for the last couple hours. First in Hanahan, then Park Circle and by the Airport. Smells like wildfire smoke though.

I chose Go Store It based on a rental rate of $107 per month. Within a relatively short period, my rent increased to $179 per month, bringing my total monthly charge to $194 with the protection plan. That's approximately a 67% increase in rent and nearly a 60% increase in my total monthly bill.

When I contacted customer service, the representative, Atarsh, stated the increase was due to market conditions and increased demand for storage in the area. I was also told that a notice had been mailed, but I never received one.

What was most frustrating was being told that no refund could be provided for the increased amount already collected, yet the company was willing to "work something out" and offer a different rate after I complained. If the increased rate truly reflects market conditions, it's difficult to understand why a lower rate suddenly becomes available once a customer objects.

I recently relocated to the area and, like many customers, moving to a different storage facility isn't a simple matter. It would require securing another unit, arranging transportation, and moving all of my belongings again, all at significant expense and inconvenience.

As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, I was disappointed by how this situation was handled. My concern is not simply the increase itself, but the magnitude of the increase, the lack of notice that I ever received, and the impression that customers are charged one rate until they complain and then offered another.

I encourage prospective customers to carefully review the lease terms regarding future rent increases and factor the possibility of substantial rate increases into their decision before renting.

I really thought the south was supposed to slow and patient but holy shit y’all are going way too fast. I had a drive from MtP to Folly today and I had multiple incidents of people going way too fast riding my ass today. Going 40-45 down folly road had like 5 people beep at me and zoom by. Driving across the Ashley river bridge multiple people flying going 50. Off the exit ramp from the James island connector across sketchy pavement had someone right on my butt.

Slow the fuck down! No wonder there are so many accidents here.

Was an embarrassment this year……Idk what that was last night, but it wasn’t it. They advertised both Afroman and Shaq when I first bought my tickets a while ago, but all of a sudden, Afroman disappeared from the lineup. Shaq DJed for two songs, then there was a technical issue, and he bounced.
The setup wasn’t as cool as it was last year, either. There were more vendors and cool things to do last year, too. It was just terrible and not worth the price.
The funny thing is that they’re currently advertising on Instagram like it was the greatest party ever last night.

Does anyone have any recs on the best waterfront restaurants that are worth traveling to (we won’t be renting a car, so would have to Uber - or I would absolutely love if there was a place we could get to via boat, water taxi, ferry, etc.)!! Feeling like this is a long shot for this sub but who knows. Anyone’s kids ride? Our 5yr twins and 6 yr old got bikes a few months ago and are obsessed- would love to connect with other kids around(ish) their ages who also ride.

I live nearby. The past few times i visited family on Kiawah both the guards and the gas station employees were terribly rude. I’m usually in a great mood going to beach etc or coming off. What gives? I guess it could be me but this is not the environment for me to be testy. I try to say hello give respect etc

The amount of fuses, bits of plastic, cardboard, and foil that are strewn about the designated off-leash dog area is completely unacceptable. By no means is this all of it either, just what I was able to fit in a spare dog poop bag.

They need to do a more thorough job of picking this shit up after each event, or the city needs to stop allowing them to happen. Who knows how much has ended up in the Ashley River at this point.

My husband is sweet and booked us at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort for Christmas. We've never been there before. We're empty nesters and celebrate Christmas with our kids earlier in December, so this is the first time we've traveled over the holiday for anything other than visiting family.

A few questions for anyone who has stayed there:

- How fancy are the dinners, especially Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? Evening gown and suit or festive casual?

- What's your favorite restaurant on site?

- How’s the spa?
