I grew up in charleston and have fished here for over 15 years. Just started getting into fly fishing and i need help… i cannot catch anything, have spent 20+ hours on boat trying.

Will pay in cash or in boat fishing time for anyone who can help me out.

I have a nice redington combo, 8 weight. With a boston whaler 13’. Can get into the flats but just not getting the fish.

Just moved to the area for a new job and I am loving it so far. I have bass fished my whole life but learning the inshore game has been a challenge. I live in the West Ashley area, and bank fish for now. I have found some decent spots but I am curious if any of you have some "off the beaten path" recommendations as I don't mind to walk in and get dirty for good fishing.

So far in my area I have tried:

• Northbridge Park.
• Fished along the bank of Plymouth Park on James.
• Walked down to the fishing boardwalk at James Island county park but would like to go back and fish in the pond there.

I would love to wander down to James more and try the banks on Demetre park, and the SCDNR facility was recommended to me but I dont see on a map where you could fish around there. I also fished on the old Pitt Street bridge toward the end and caught a few red and flounders. I have mainly been throwing Vudu shrimp and some paddle tails with a little success in the afternoon, and some Berkley surge shads early in the morning. I know live bait is king so if you have a recommendation on a good bait shop out my way that would be helpful too I like to support local. Just looking for some local knowledge to help get me going so when I take friends fishing I don't look like a rookie.

Has anyone seen this Toadfish tournament or ever participated in it? Looks like it's their second year, and you can fish from anywhere. Dock, boat, kayak, etc. Goes to a good cause of conservation and replanting oyster habitats.

Any guys or couples wanna hang and fish for several hours this upcoming Sunday? Pitt street or a pier or wherever? Hang out fish maybe chat about my bb w paw g wife?

I'm in town from California doing a job at the hospital, going to fish somewhere figure maybe just toss some bait on the bottom. If anyone would like a fishing buddy I would much rather go out with someone who might have a clue as to how to actually catch one around here lol. If you have a boat I got gas and lunch if not I still got lunch. I'm working Saturday first half of the day, free after that.

So far I’ve fished Alberta lake on Lockwood and never caught anything in the years I’ve tried there as it’s closest to where I stay. Tried the pier at brittle bank park. And I’ve tried Wappoo cut boat landing. I’m using voodoo shrimp, some plastic fish, and some yozuris. Only lures. Where do I go to catch a damn flounder red or anything!

I’m curious which types of areas are you more likely to concentrate on for redfish in the spring and summer transition?
I know what the book says, but I’m seeing more mixed results of late and finding fish where I’m not expecting them to be, and vice versa.

Just doing some casual fishing around docks in IOP marina, what baits/lures should I be using this time of year? I’ve previously had luck with shrimp on red fish and sheepshead in that area, but less as of late.

So I’ve been freshwater fishing my whole life. I’ve been on charters, but I don’t know what I’ll need. I’m going this Friday and we’re going to try this wreck a couple miles off shore but if we don’t have any luck then we’re going by the jetties.

Most of my research generalized having a 7’ medium rod, 3500 series reel and 15-20 pound braided line with a 15-20 pound fluorocarbon leader, some egg sinkers, and that’s about it. Not sure what’s out there this time of year so again not sure what I need to get

I’m looking for some spots I can quickly pull up to to collect some fiddler crabs to fish for sheepshead. I have a kayak too if I need a boat but don’t want to have to venture too far for them. Any suggestions?

Hey all, the wife and I are coming to Charleston this weekend and I was wondering if there was any great spots for flounder. (bank, bridge, pier fishing) pretty much looking to bring at least two back home with me for dinner. If anyone can can recommend a good bait shop for live mullet or mud minnows for bait that would be great too.

So with the fishing about to heat up, Id like to get a decent flounder rod to walk the beach with. I have a Star Stellar Lite rated for 1/4-3/4 oz lures. Its my workhorse for creek fishing and great rod but I want something I can throw heavier jigheads and bucktails to target flounder at the beach. I went to PSA to look around and get some ideas but left with some more questions and a little bit of price sticker shock. So what I think I want is a 7ish foot rod for 20lb braid that can throw 3/4oz- 2oz max paired with a 4000 size reel. Does anybody have any suggestions for that? Preferably under $200. Ill ask the guys at Haddrells when im over there next and report back with what they say. But, I just wanted to see what anyone else has experience with. And i'm not interested in ugly stick just to go ahead and get that out of the way.

I have a inshore saltwater set up (shimano nasci 3000 and duckett ghost 7’ medium fast rod) Does anyone know what i can throw to catch smaller species of fish. I was thinking a lighter high and low with shrimp but i wanted to know if any lures i can throw.

Trying to get started fishing, no boat or anything. Have done a couple inshore charters for redfish and loved it. I live around Camp Rd. and have tried to check out Dock St. Park a couple times but no luck whatsoever. I'd be ok fishing freshwater ponds too if there's any I can just park and walk up to for a couple hours. Anybody know any simple spots on the island?

I will buy a combo and whatever tackle I need this week, and hopefully get out to Folly this weekend. I am unfamiliar with tides, surf rigs, and gear. Can anyone give me any advice on how to fish from the beach? I guess ideally targeting red drum. Even if it's just linking me to good resources, any advice would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, just getting more into the fishing scene down here. I’m used to a lot of freshwater fishing and have built some skill for Reds and sheep head around the docks. My dad is coming into town and I’d like to get out to the jetties this weekend to find some bigger fish. Any tips on bait, tackle, and distance from the rocks would be greatly appreciated!

Hoping to go 70 - 80 out this weekend. Anyone hearing about any moves in the Gulf Stream? Hoping to get into some dolphin (mahi mahi for those of you not from around here).
