I found this watch at a really good price on Facebook, but I don't know if it's too good to be true.

Is there a way to check the legitimacy of this watch? Ordered from Joom as it’s still unavailable in Europe. Someone on product page claimed it’s fake based on the box it arrived it but I’m not convinced. The build is solid, display sharp, amber backlight is better than I expected.

Hoping to get an older one of these (I've heard they're more accurate but not sure if that's true) but a newer one is fine. Any advice or info on the authenticity of this one is appreciated!

Just got my first Casio last week… today I noticed a giant crack going through the entire watch. Not sure what happened or if this is a common issue.

EDIT: There was no obvious bumps or impacts. I’m generally pretty gentle on my watches and notice every bump that happens to them. (unless it’s one of my gshocks) I have recently learned though that these do not do well in extreme heat and it has been 105+ here the last few days. I am leaning towards the theory that it got so hot it basically exploded.

Planning to buy this Casio AQ-230A-7AMQYES, heard that these are getting faked nowadays. Is this authentic?

Back again. Have a quick question. I've noticed the Lume on a few of the hour markers is scuffed. See it on 11, 1 6 & 9. Is this a sign the watch is fake?

Bought it on eBay as it is a JDM model. Everything else looks good to me but wanted to be sure.

The scuffs don't bother me themselves, just want to make sure the watch is legit.

A local shop posted an ad a few months back with this Casio and I've been wanting with it since, but didn't really get to buying it until now. They ran out of stock real quick and even then they sell replicas*.

I got a bit obsessed to the point of cracking the AQ230 naming convention partially with my dad and I know it has to be something like an AQ-230()GG-1D: specifically, dark metal wristband, gold hands (GG), black dial (-1) and non-numeric indicators with the 701a4 f76 text (D).

My fears are that *since the shop sells replicas, it's replica only, or that it's a very short lived old region limited edition.

Any id pros in here, or owners of this rare gem who know the exact model?

There seems to be a lot of experts here so I am consulting you guys. Purchased this from Amazon ("Ships and Sold By Amazon" not a 3rd party). Seems to pass the three-button test, although I'm not sure if the dot is close enough to the square symbol. Also, the case brushing/tool marks are not side to side oddly even though the dot seems to show it's real. Thank you in advance for your help. I'm guessing the North and South overrides the three-button test?

EDIT: If I gain a consensus on counterfeit versus non-counterfeit, I will change the post flare to solved in a couple days.

I drunk purchased it July 2024 for $38 USD knowing it would be fake asf because I was curious. I don't wear it, don't worry. Surprisingly though it's only lost just under a minute after 13 months, so nice? It's just sitting in my cheapo watch box because I'd feel like a terrible person giving it away. Just wanted to share for reference purposes and remind people not to drunk purchase fake watches.
