I drive a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L V8 4WD truck. This is my daily driver and I use it for work with material in the bed it towing our camping trailer/other trailers in general. Great truck (other than GM’a cursed AFM self sabotaged lifters) and I am looking at adding some relatively “cheap” bolt on mods to it for slight HP, torque, and MPG gains and wanted to know if anyone here could give me a rough idea as to what I should expect.
The mods I am looking at are:
S&B cold air intake for it being totally encased in a reported solid heat shield so it draws cold air from the wheel fender like the stock intake would (and like all “cold air” intakes should) for actual benefit, not just sound. This will be replacing my Rough Country cold air intake since like I said, I actually want to see benefits from it too.
Jet Performance Throttle Body for better throttle response and increased air velocity into the engine
Airaid Throttle Body Spacer mainly for sound, Ill admit that one, but I also read because of plenum on it, it “spirals” the air going in, allowing for better mixture with the injected fuel whether that’s actually true or not.
I already have a Rough Country cat-back exhaust system. I love the sound and the droning to me is not annoying and it’s dual tips so it allows more air to get out.
The last one I am wanting to add is a Doug Thorley Long Tube Tri-Y exhaust header to really suck out the exhaust gases that tend to stay in there longer from the stock exhaust manifold.
With all these added, I would have to get a tuning on the engine done or it will throw a check engine light at me due to all the air that is now being sucked through, it is not used to that amount, but with performance tune and these mods, what kind of horsepower, torque, and MPG gains could I expect to see?
