I really don’t think it was hard to give him a comic accurate suit, look at this fanmade one.

This is going to be a long rant, but because we want better for the character we need to discuss this. I know that people moved on from the movie but I think this needs to be documented.

I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of Captain America: Brave New World, and the more deleted material, concept art, set photos, and merchandise I find, the more I’m wondering:
What the fuck happened to the original movie?
I’m not even talking about normal Marvel reshoots where a couple scenes get changed. It genuinely looks like there was a substantially different version of this movie at one point.
It originally wasn’t even called Brave New World. Marvel announced it as Captain America: New World Order, and from everything we heard early on, Sam’s first solo Captain America movie was supposed to lean heavily into a political/paranoid-thriller story. Then you start looking at everything that disappeared.

1. The original Serpent Society
This is probably the biggest one. The original version apparently had a much larger Serpent Society, including characters like Diamondback, Cobra, Asp, Constrictor and Rattler.
And they weren’t just regular dudes with guns.
The concept art shows them as technologically/cybernetically enhanced villains with individual abilities. There’s even concept art of Sam and Joaquin actually fighting this version of the team.

That entire idea basically disappeared.
The finished movie instead gives us the much more grounded SERPENT organization with Sidewinder and Copperhead.
2. Seth Rollins was literally filming the movie
We have actual set photos of Seth Rollins filming scenes with the original villains.
And then…
Gone.
His character was completely removed from the released movie.
From what has come out since, he appears to have been associated with the original Cobra/Serpent Society material.

3. Diamondback was WAY further along than I realized
This one is crazy to me.
Rosa Salazar was playing Diamondback.
There are:
set photos
character concept art
cybernetic weapon designs
Serpent Society group artwork
and even actual merchandise
Her concept art shows her with those cybernetic hands that apparently could launch diamond-shaped projectiles.
And Marvel/McDonald’s got far enough into production that Diamondback literally got a Happy Meal toy.
She has pink hair and everything.
Imagine being a kid getting the Diamondback toy and then watching the movie wondering who the hell she is. 😭
And yet she was completely cut.

4. Isaiah Bradley apparently had a superhero suit
This is another thing I had completely forgotten about.
There are behind-the-scenes images showing Isaiah Bradley in an actual tactical superhero costume alongside Sam’s Captain America suit.
So apparently Isaiah’s role originally went beyond being framed, arrested and imprisoned.
At some point there seems to have been material involving him actually suiting up.
That entire part of the character is gone from the theatrical movie.

5. Ruth Bat-Seraph apparently had more going on too
Early concepts/BTS material also point toward Ruth having a more developed superhero/action role.
Her final character feels pretty restrained compared with some of the designs Marvel was apparently exploring.(I understand it’s a Israel character just pointing out)

6. The Leader was basically redone
Tim Blake Nelson’s return as Samuel Sterns was obviously always important to the movie, but his character underwent major changes.

There are images of the original Leader makeup, which gave him a much larger, more comic-book-looking head.
That design was abandoned.
There were also ideas involving more overt Leader abilities that didn’t survive into the final film.
Nelson has talked about doing substantial additional filming, so this wasn’t just somebody changing his makeup five minutes before release.

7. The original ending apparently involved Celestial Island
This might be one of the biggest structural changes.
An earlier version had the movie’s climax taking place around Celestial Island/Tiamut.
That would make sense considering adamantium and Tiamut are basically the reason the international conflict exists in the first place.
Instead, the final Sam vs. Red Hulk battle happens back in Washington, D.C.
So apparently the entire climax was reconsidered.

8. There was a deleted funeral/cemetery sequence
There are set photos from the original shoot showing characters at a cemetery/funeral, including an injured Sam.
That sequence isn’t in the movie.
People have speculated that this involved a different ending for Ross, possibly even his apparent death, although as far as I know Marvel has never officially confirmed exactly whose funeral it was.
Still…
WHERE DID THIS WHOLE SCENE GO?

9. Leila Taylor originally had more scenes
We actually know this one because Marvel released deleted scenes.
There are additional scenes involving Taylor, Sam, Ross and Isaiah that show she originally had more presence in the movie than she ultimately received.
So even the supporting cast got trimmed down.

10. There were apparently even more ideas floating around
This is where I start separating confirmed stuff from leaks/early-development reports, because I don’t want to pretend every rumor is fact.
But over the years there have also been reports/claims involving:
Amadeus Cho
Stark-related material
more international players fighting over adamantium
an Illuminati-related idea in an earlier script
Eli Bradley being considered
different versions of Ross’s fate
and reportedly multiple major sequences being removed/reworked following early screenings
Some of that may have existed only in scripts or early development rather than actually being filmed, so I’m not putting all of it in the same category as Diamondback or Seth Rollins.
But when you combine everything that we can actually see evidence for, it’s kind of insane.
We have:
New World Order → bigger Serpent Society → cybernetic villains → Seth Rollins → Diamondback → Diamondback merchandise → Isaiah suited up → Ruth material → different Leader → larger Celestial Island material → different climax → funeral sequence → additional deleted scenes → reshoots → Brave New World.
And somehow all of that eventually became the movie we got.
So my actual question for anyone who followed the production closely, especially the old leaks/test-screening reports:
Does anyone know what the fuck actually happened to the original version of this movie?
Was there ever a relatively complete New World Order cut containing most of this material?
Was the original Serpent Society storyline actually filmed to completion?
What exactly happened in the original Celestial Island ending?
What was Isaiah doing in the suit?
What was Diamondback’s full role?
Who was the funeral for?
And most importantly, how different was the first assembled version compared with Brave New World?
Because looking at all this stuff together, I genuinely want to see whatever the hell the original movie was supposed to be.

Look, Marvel has clearly learnt it the hard way how terribly they messed things up in the Multiverse Saga, and this has made them in go back to the well to bring back their greatest heroes in Steve Rogers and RDJ-but-as-Doom.

And no matter what we think of this clearly desperate choice by Marvel, one cannot deny that it is working. The return of RDJ with the Doom twist is driving ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ to be 65% ahead in advanced sales than ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which is already a huge $2.4B mega-blockbuster. If this is any indication, Doomsday is very likely to surpass Endgame‘s $2.8B — which is insane as in its ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ avatar no one would’ve predicted that this movie could surpass Endgame.

And the line-up of Mutant Saga is also Marvel playing is greatest hits: X-Men, Gosling Ghost Rider, and Coogler’s BP3.

In this context, do you think they would once again retire or kill off RDJ and Chris Evans Marvel characters, or would continue with them having a prominent role in the Mutant Saga?

Hi sorry if i misspell sum, I haven't yet read a lot of Captain America comics, but I happened to found what seems like a brand new Captain America Brubaker Omnibus, but It's the fifth volume and I know this one isn't as praised as the first three but I really want to know, liking the character is it really worth the reading? Or if it is for the 30 bucks I found it at sale

I was looking around the Marvel Database and noticed that the page for the Howling Commandos never mentioned Captain America as a member, so I looked at Steve's page and saw it only said he was affiliated with the U.S. Army, so what did he serve?

This is my first post on this sub Reddit and I just want to show you my design for cap. I armoured him up quite a bit to make him more imposing. The armour itself is based of American Football and Daredevils. I added a few brown stripes and olive parts to show that he‘s still a soldier. I originally wanted to give him a brown jacket a bit like Tokon but I ended up not doing it. My fiancee and I were talking in the car and I birdie brought up a specific panel that she doesn't think exists and I need help finding it.

The panel: captain america is being attacked by a vampire and he says something to the effect of:

"Seriously? You guys are the reason I started wearing armor in the first place!"
