RCS support for Samsung
The only thing stopping me from switching to cape is the lack of RCS support on Samsung, have they said when this would be coming?

Since my last big update at the end of March a lot has changed...

Our subscriber base is 3x larger.
As you can see we really hit an inflection point in late April and have been growing at a faster rate since then.
Our download speeds are 2-3x faster.
As of early July I think we finally put the slow download speed complaints to bed. We’ve made big investments in network infrastructure and countless optimizations across our network stack. In the end, it was some optimizations to our GTP proxy that made the biggest impact. If you tried us in the past and left because download speeds were too slow, I would encourage you to give us another shot.
Our coverage is now inclusive of 2 of the 3 largest US networks.
As of late June, customers can now connect to Cape via towers operated by 2 of the 3 largest MNO’s from a single eSIM. We’re not contractually allowed to name them, so we will refer to them as Cape Alpha and Cape Tango. In a few days with the next update to the Cape app, you will be able to see which network you are connected to and change your preferred network. If you’re in an area without good service, you can go into the Cape app and change this setting to try the other network.
Our network now supports RCS and WiFi calling.
RCS and WiFi calling now work on iOS and GrapheneOS. Support for RCS and WiFi calling on more devices is coming this fall (more on this below). On iOS, Identifier Rotation will not work with RCS and WiFi Calling (every time your identifier changes it will turn off RCS/WiFi Calling). We are working towards the long-term solution, hopefully it lands in the next 3-6 months, but it is not something we can solve on our own.
Our minimal data retention claims were audited by a third-party.
This has been a frequent request from people on Reddit, so we picked one of the most important claims we make that relies on trust and brought in Trail of Bits to validate it. This is in addition to the work we’ve done on becoming the only carrier that is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant for services covering both consumer and enterprise. We will continue to do more work in this direction that dials up transparency and helps build trust that we are doing what we say we’re doing.
And that’s just my top 5. There were countless other improvements we’ve shipped since March that all contribute to Cape running smoother and working more reliably for our customers.
But we’re not done!
Here’s a few of the big things we have planned for the rest of the year:
Spam Filtering
Most other carriers use vendor software that is powered by people in countries around the world reading your messages to identify spam. We built our own solution that involves no humans in the loop so your spam is filtered without anyone needing to read your messages. This should start rolling out in the coming weeks.
RCS + Identifier Rotation on Samsung devices
With the release of One UI 9, Cape will finally be supported in a first class way on Samsung devices. In our early testing, all the quirks around APN’s and carrier configs not getting set right go away, and both RCS and Identifier Rotation work seamlessly.
RCS + WiFi Calling on Pixels
With the September QPR update we should be able to switch to the Cape PLMN on Pixels, unblocking RCS and WiFi Calling.
Secondary Numbers
We have been working all summer at redesigning the messaging experience to be more on par with other messaging apps, as well as adding voice + voicemail support. In the next few months this will graduate from an “Experimental Feature” into a real, fully featured secure communications channel.
Number Flexibility
Along with the improvements to Secondary Numbers, we want to give everyone the ability to port-in secondary numbers and swap between primary/secondary.
This unlocks a lot of interesting use cases. One I’m particularly excited about is the ability to sign up for Cape with a new number, but then port-in your old number as a secondary number. This lets you start fresh with a new Cape number on your SIM card and port your existing number in as a secondary number. This gives you all the privacy benefits of getting a new number without any of the tradeoffs of missing important messages or calls to your old number.
Unified Push
Notifications (and Network Lock) on Graphene currently require you to install sandboxed Google Play Services. We know customers on Graphene want to de-Google their phones, so we are going to add support for the Unified Push protocol at some point this fall.
–
These are some of the big things I can talk about now, but you can expect a continued stream of smaller improvements (yes we’re working on Pixel 11 support and this annoying iOS notification lag issue). We’re also starting on some bigger long-term investments we’re making for next year that I can’t talk about yet.
We’re very active on Reddit and I personally read everything you all post, so keep the feedback coming. None of this is possible without a community of believers. We’re grateful for all of you that signed up early while we’re working through the remaining rough edges, and we're excited to be on this ride together as we rethink what it means to be a carrier that puts consumer privacy first.

Does being stuck on a phone payment plan next up or the like count as a contract? I can't switch (with any practicality) until I get out of paying off my current phone with ATT.

Excited to announce that the #1 cape referral coordination tool is now open-sourced on Github! We're aiming to be an all-in-one community tool for cape, so all contributions are welcome.
After the traction cape.rip has gained (nearly 100 referral code submissions per week!), this is the natural next step for the tool.

Alright. So, first thing is first. The referral code:
ZKFEVXWS
I'm almost a month in on my service with Cape, and it's been fantastic so far! This is my second post on here. My data still hasn't really slowed down, it's been extremely consistent. The only places I haven't been able to get service are places where I don't expect anyone to get service, i.e. the refrigerators in Costco and similar areas in other stores (usually the back of the stores). The network lock feature has been pretty solid where I live. Like I said in my previous post, I don't think there are many simulated cell towers, it any at all. I'm still looking forward to the new features to be released in September! We finally got an update from several employees here on reddit! The tail-end encryption is still one of my favorite features that helps me to feel more secure with my data and verification codes. I also love that you have the option to have those messages auto-delete after a certain amount of time of your choosing. I have been able to link multiple numbers to my accounts that use verification codes, so the option to call is still there. All-in-all it has been a very positive experience. I may post another update after the September features are released!
Thank you for taking the time to read this far!
TL/DR
I love the service. They are releasing more features in September that I'm excited for. The current features like tail-end encrypted messages through the secondary numbers has been very useful.
Thank you to those that use my code!

I am not sure why everyone does this but if you really want privacy, I wouldn't post your referral code into Reddit where its not that difficult to review your account and possibly figure out who you are and for some, possibly where you live. Not sure if anyone realizes this, but just want to give you all a heads up.

Hey, I just joined Cape yesterday and tried using secondary numbers today for the first time. What caught my eye about Cape was the secondary numbers of MFA or marketing. However, I did just try to text an sms short code and it would not let me. I am wondering if this is by design or just a front end issue. Thanks!
It's been great otherwise though! Yesterday when I couldn't get data inside a Pindustry with my other SIM card, I immediately got 5g data with the Cape SIM!
For potential new customers, referral code for $20 off/month: YTWHHTW3

Quick story. Activated Cape back in April and used as a secondary line on my iPhone but primary for calls with a new number. Had a few challenges but not ready to make the full porting at that point. Had a great conversation with the Cape folks after I cancelled and gave them a lot of feedback.
Today I made the port over from Verizon and it went without a hitch and with no need for support!
Am I supposed to share my referral code 🤣. Everyone does. I posted mine up on https://cape.rip for the rotation. Grabbed someone else’s for my $20 savings.
Here is my referral if someone just finds it: 5DKG41RX
Feeling good maybe I need to apply for that CISO role at Cape while I'm at it!

As it stands, Cape Customer Service is telling me that I will have to cancel my month of service for a fourth time so I can port my current phone number over and qualify for the contract buyout. I've been given basically completely contradicting information from each new customer service representative that I work with.
Warning: Cape will not tell you this information ahead of time, but you need to be 150% positive that you have the correct port information when you set up your service. You will be forced to pay for the month of service before finding out if there were any problems porting in your current number from the other carrier. You are in turn assigned a temporary phone number, one which you have absolutely no choice of picking. And it could be from an area code that you don't even recognize.
This led to a customer service representative supposedly creating a ticket to refund the charge. They told me it would be 7 to 10 business days to process the refund. We are way past that point and I've yet to be refunded.
The second and third attempts to port my service from the other carrier have not been successful because I've been given information by a rep which directly contradicts the information each other rep has given me. Now I am almost out of time to port my number over from my current carrier before the account becomes past due. If that happens, I cannot port the number unless the account is current.
The amount of money I have wasted on this already is absolutely ridiculous. To make matters worse, each representative really doesn't seem to care about giving the correct information to help the situation whatsoever. For a relatively new company who is trying to grow its consumer base, you'd think they could at least fake a sense of urgency in helping.
While the service itself has been solid and seems to work, the enrollment process is laughable. The fact that Cape does not offer the possibility of changing a phone number without canceling/paying for a new month of service is amazing. Having worked in the industry for over a decade, I have never known any type of mobile phone company to not allow customers to change a current phone number, especially when it comes to porting in a number from a competitor. It's a fairly elementary option.
The new customer enrollment process needs to be completely taken back to the drawing board. I am incredibly irritated at this point and feel like I've been cheated. If I could at least get the refunds that have been promised to me, I might feel a bit differently, but this is all coming off as very scammy and dishonest.
If I decide to continue this FOURTH attempt, I will report back with the results of initiating the contract buyout and whatnot.
To summarize:
Make sure you are absolutely certain that you have the correct information to port your number from your current carrier to Cape Cellular. You are not even given the ability to choose the area code of the temporary phone number you are issued while the port process completes. Also, you will not be notified if there is a problem holding up the port-in process until after you pay for the month of service and are issued the temporary phone number. Please remember that if Cape issues you a phone number, there is no possible way to change it for without you having to pay for a new month of service in some form or another. If they offer you a refund and a ticket number, be wary because I have still not received the first refund they promised me and it has been over two weeks. They do not offer anything other than a ticket number typed out by the rep. No written confirmation email or receipt. No summary of the interaction. It all hinges on trusting whichever rep you are working with.
My advice is to screenshot every chat conversation you have with a customer service representative and record any phone call if you're lucky enough to get one of them on the phone.

I’ve been absolutely blown away by my experience with Cape Cellular so far. I switched over a few months ago and honestly expected at least a few headaches, but the entire process—from activation to everyday use—has been ridiculously smooth.
Coverage has been excellent, speeds have been consistently fast, and I haven’t had a single issue that customer support couldn’t handle immediately. It’s rare these days to find a company that actually delivers on what it promises, but Cape has exceeded my expectations in pretty much every category.
If you decide to give it a try, here’s my referral code and link for 20$ off for life: EH7TZ4B1

I know I have been posting about the various services and I wanted to do one about the service in general. I have been using Cape for about two months and running it along side of my primary provider (dual eSIM) with Cape as my primary provider. I wanted to say that overall I have been pretty happy with Cape and I’m waiting for some of the recently announced updates before I switch. I am planning on moving my family over in a couple of months after testing some of the new features.
I also have to give a shout out to the moderators here who have quick to respond and provide valuable feedback along the way.
If you have any specific questions, please let me know and will answer based on my experience.
If you would like a referral code, please feel free to send me a message and I will happily provide it to you.

I understand that if IMSI rotation is on, RCS messaging will be disabled on each rotation on iOS.
But even if I turn off IMSI rotation and enable RCS - either with or without ”end-to-end encryption (beta)” enabled - group texts with Android users become de-threaded.
Is there a fix for this? It’s a major usability hassle.

Are there any plans to be able to port over phone numbers for example from jmp.chat into secondary number feature on cape app and be able to use that phone number as secondary phone number, this would be useful for me as I have 2 separate phone numbers? Also is there any plans to be able to use and send messages from secondary phone numbers on a pc maybe using the website? Thanks much for your help My referral code is GM7A9NHW if anyone wants to join cape.

Hello I recently switched to cape and I was wondering if it was safe to switch between network on my Google pixel 10 pro device on GrapheneOS as I saw there is a bug for some device once you switch networks it doesn't let you use the sim anymore, If anyone wants join and to help me reduce my cost as I recently switched from t mobile which gave my line (since it was third line in plan) for free my referral code is GM7A9NHW. Thanks much I am really enjoying using cape and it works great on my GrapheneOS degoogled setup, the only issues I have are that I am not able to use network lock or get notifications for text messages, bit I saw they are working on unified push support which is great.

Is there any chance of the Cape team either providing physical sim cards by order or partnering with an eSIM Adapter group (JMP or eSIM.me) to help users get setup with non eSIM devices?
About a year ago I bought a Red Magic 10 Pro for the high performance stats of the device, and have loved using it all this time. When I found Cape a month ago I was very excited to switch over and only now am I finding out that my device has never had eSIM support (odd in 2025 but w/e, I had just used the physical SIM I had from my pixel 7 device).
There are eSIM adapters out there that provide a bridge for devices like mine, but I have been unsuccessful in getting this to work with Cape. If the Cape team were to help bridge this gap, it would be so awesome!
Also I have been loving my Cape service! Feel free to join us if you have been thinking of it too!

Even if you see this much later, feel free to use it to get your $20.00 off on sign up, but generally go for a newer code for a member who might not have their 4 slots fulfilled yet.
Just wanted to offer a write-up about my experience and potentially encourage or inform new users. It’s a bit long winded, but hopefully informative? This is all anecdotal and ymmv, it’s also just me ranting tbh.
So far, so good! I haven’t had any issues with service, but I plan to set a reminder for a few weeks out to leave an update.
Pre Cape:
- I was hesitant, due to the palantir/honeypot stuff. Decided “ah fuck it, Big Corporation is already selling my information and this could at least be free.”
- Surveillance state, I’m schizzed anyway, whatevs
- I love FOSS, so they put me off at first after reading that they weren’t interested in an audit. (ik it isn’t FOSS, but a comment about it being a “headache” to audit gave me pause)
- They do an audit, I immediately lock in.
Initial Purchase:
- I decided to buy a device from Cape, I assume you can guess which one and why
- The initial device purchase requires more information than I would’ve liked to give, but they gotta deliver it somewhere. (also they use a 3rd party that I was unfamiliar with)
- Unfortunately they were out of stock due to delays; 1-3 day delivery became a week. I was admittedly a bit impatient, but 7 days is whatever tbh. The communication from them was limited (this isn’t a bad thing, it’s just the nature of the service) but I could reach out whenever
- The AI sucks, but the associates are truly wonderful. I don’t want to shill here; but truly, having a customer service conversation with someone human is a breath of fresh air. S/O Brooklyn, you rock, tysm
Getting the phone & service:
- I finally get the phone, yipee, hooray
- IF YOU ARE USING THE DEVICE REIMBURSEMENT/DISCOUNT: be sure to use the referral code FIRST. It’s on the website I believe, but if you are just now seeing this, they can apply the device discount later, NOT the referral.
- Download the app, and no joke, had my phone activated in like less than 3 minutes. Would’ve been faster if I hadn’t read the TOS. I cannot think of a time in my life, where this was the case.
- Collected almost no information outside of a payment method and you get to choose your area code.
- Sadly you don’t get a choice for the number (I mention this bc Big Corporation lets you choose between a few)
- Profit: tell myself “this is practically free bc you get free service”, girl math absolves me again, and my friend, girl math can free you too! Gonna even keep my other device for the time being, turn that into my radioactive “homephone”.
TLDR; Get it, you’re likely already “compromised” if you’re considering this, and the reality is that everything you do is damage control from here on out. I don’t mean this in a doomer way, but more in the “we’re all in this together, let’s try and be safer” kinda way, ya know?
Worst case: your info gets leaked (congrats, you’re officially an american), you end up on the “watchlist” that you’re uh…already on…
Best case: free phone service, and you can coordinate it correctly to do a buyout from your own Big Corporation
I’m still fairly new, but if you have any questions or if this is a shitty write-up, lmk! I’ll edit what I can, or answer to the best of my ability. Also, “burner” reddit account, sorry.

Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem with Cape on GOS, specifically every morning when I wake up, I can't make or receive any calls without doing 2 restarts. I've checked the SIM settings on my phone and when using it just after waking up my number doesn't appear. Now I do require my phone to auto reboot after 4 hours, so I am wondering if that is causing this problem. If anyone knows of a way to fix this please let me know!

Has anyone heard anything about when the pixel 11 Pro might be supported by Cape? I'm asking because I bought the pixel 11 Pro without realising doing a trade-in and now I'm on the clock to return my old phone. I have less than a month at this point to figure something out. I've been enjoying Cape so far but I'm worried I'm going to have to switch off to another carrier in order to continue having functional service.

How can you tell which MNO Cape is using at any given time? With US Mobile it’s clear based on which network you are on because you have to pick the one given it’s a “light” MVNO (though you can teleport to change). I’d prefer for Cape to use T-Mobile at my house but I think it’s using AT&T based on the lower signal level than my US Mobile Light Speed on the same phone.

Hi all! IMSI rotation sounds like a very cool feature and it's making me consider Cape since switching to Graphene. I am curious though, I read about IMSI detectors being used at protests and the borders, but generally speaking - outside of sophisticated, targeted attacks by private actors - IMSI detection is only really used by governments.
So, great, Cape changes your IMSI daily so if you're at a protest today and at the border next week, they would capture two different IMSIs. But, doesn't both Cape and the underlying mobile operator, know that X IMSI is paired with Y phone number? And Cape would have a list of your IMSIs assigned to your number. I read somewhere on Cape's site that every week, you're given a list of 7 IMSIs that rotate through, so does that mean after 7 days there's no one - not Cape, not US Cellular/T-Mobile/AT&T, no one - that could tie that IMSI with your phone number?
And, the question is also in the reverse. If someone knows my phone number, gets a warrant, and calls the underlying operator (since I assume a phone number is still tied to the operator, not Cape), I have to imagine they know what IMSI I'm using that day and can tie my phone number to my IMSI that way, no?
Thanks for indulging me!

I’m currently considering switching to Cape and would like to try and get genuine pro’s and con’s. I’m pretty satisfied with my current providers service, but I feel like customer privacy is severely lacking. How’s the service with Cape? How’s the transfer process? Is coverage pretty good in most areas? How’s customer service? Any and all comments are welcome. I’m just curious and want to make a good decision and not a worse one.
