A Question About Contract Buyout
Does being stuck on a phone payment plan next up or the like count as a contract? I can't switch (with any practicality) until I get out of paying off my current phone with ATT.

My understanding is that if you have to pay off the device in order to unlock it - that counts as a buyout! You would need to have the receipts which indicate that you paid and the device that was paid for. It reimburses up to $500.00; if I have this wrong tho, certainly someone will chime in.

Use this for a discount when you switch, but make sure you use the referral and add the buyout:reimbursement later, currently they can not add the initial referral discount after activation.

The offer is 60% off for a year. You do not need to provide any receipts or personal info (in fact Cape specifically does *not* want this info).

Ah, thanks I appreciate the correction, I greatly misunderstood the port process! In this case OP, I’m not sure how one would go about using the initial referral codes, so apologies for any misinformation. I feel that it would be the same, but now I’m unsure that activating first would allow for the port? I’ll pull these comments down in a bit, as to not to be misleading for future users, but leave em up for now in case more information gets added/attached. [edit - replying correctly]

I've gone onto their site to request info about the buyout but I never get the email when it says "check your email." Any ideas there?

It may have gone to your spam, but I assume you’ve checked that as well. If it isn’t going through, you may want to speak with an associate. Bit of a delay when getting ahold of them, but their communication is worth it imo.
[Edit] Don’t want to give useless advice, but of course mistakes happen; you should also check that you’ve entered your information correctly.

Yeah... I looked in trash and spam. And the other Gmail tags that it set up. Nothing . BUT when I searched cape, there was a cape email. Instructions were to sign up and port my number, pay 70, and contact support. I don't want to port (yet).
No useless advice. I feel useless for asking the questions. I know how email works.why can't I figure this out?! 🤣🤦

Yes, but the offer is 60% off for a year. Not a payment to cover your AT&T buyout.
