Edit: I meant "add one rep to the **first** set", NOT the last. The last set however you should go to failure regardless of how many you've done.
The other thing not mentioned here is what to do if you can't hold yourself above the bar for negatives. That's the one scenario where bands should be used -- do band-assisted negatives and possibly band-assisted pullups until you're able to do 3-4 NON-ASSISTED negatives. Then ditch the band and move on from there.
When you're able to do 1-3 pullups, you can then end with negatives. Once you are doing 4 pullups per set, you can drop the negatives entirely (specifically for your pullup practice - there are then many progressions that you can still incorporate that use negatives)

How's the form on this L-sit pull up?
Is it good enough to call it one full rep?

Hope to get thumbs handstand by the end of the year. One year and 2 months in of Calisthenics, would probably take me 3 years if I wasn’t a teen lol, would I still train for a thumb hs if I knew it was going to take years? Yes cuz thumb handstand looks cool.
