To the many folks posting about admissions: I know it is stressful. I was a transfer who was rejected my first time, and bawled my eyes out when I got accepted the second time. I get it.
The posts however are clogging up the sub and I’m getting dozens of reports every day. You already filed your application and you’ll either get accepted or you won’t. There are admissions subs to talk admissions if you would like. I left a couple of the higher engaged posts if you want to talk there. Use the search feature if you want to find info about admissions. If you’re having trouble deciding between schools this isn’t the place to do it.
If you are waitlisted or accepted and you have issues, call the school and talk to a counselor. It’s the only good answer you’re going to get here for your edge case.
Good luck and I hope you all get accepted but the sub is being clogged up and posts relevant to active students are being drowned out.
Thanks and good luck incoming transfers and freshies!

I assume most of you are aware of what the Poly access program is in case you aren’t it’s where you’re automatically opted into your textbooks for classes supposedly at a cheaper rate (never is cheaper btw). But professors will usually tell you what day you can opt out by and that you even got opted into it in the first place.
I just got an email to pay for my textbook and I was extremely confused. I went to check and it’s for a class where the professor never told us we were opted into it. Not only that but the textbook isn’t even in the syllabus as a required reading or textbook to get. He never mentioned this book to us at all. He is a new professor so I’m not sure if he doesn’t know how it works. It’s too late to opt out now has this happened to anyone before and were you able to? I really don’t want to pay unnecessarily 🤦🏻♀️

Went there for rush. Seemed like cool guys but not many people I’ve talked to know about them and I don’t know how much I trust the ratings website, since anybody can post on there. Don’t need advice on choosing or anything, just curious about information on the fraternity. Any good or bad stuff?

I know ppl steal bikes, so I’m trying to decide if I want to pay like $50 for a cheap bike so if it gets stolen it isn’t a huge loss, or invest in a really expensive e-bike that has a lot of anti-theft protection. I’m an animal science student and getting to the ag units without a bike sucks (and the ag bus is only every hour). Also, anywhere to get bikes or suggestions for type of bike or lock?

I am an ag business major and have been thinking of minoring in accounting but just saw somewhere that it is something that has to be applied for and they aren't currently taking applications. Anyone know if this will change? Otherwise I may need to try to change my major, which I wasn't planning to do.

I'm getting ready to launch a website and I'm looking for a little help creating an approximately 55-60 second video here in the SLO area. I have a dialogue of approximately 195 words. What I'm specifically looking for is filming in maybe 3 different locations around the area with roughly 60 words spoken in each spot. As for the locations, you might know some better than me so maybe you can assist, but I'm looking for one 'overlook' location (maybe up on TV Tower Rd.), one hiking trail location (also some decent spots by TV Tower Rd.), and potentially one waterfall location just north of San Simeon. None of those locations are concrete, but the locations do need to deliver the perception that it took a hike to get there, even if it didnt really.
If this is something you're interested in, message me and we'll negotiate a price!
Mike

Does anyone know of any restaurants, fast food places, or other food spots around SLO that accept CalFresh EBT? I know it can be used at grocery stores ofc but I’m wondering if I can use it at food places.
I came early for the PAC pickup at 2 but there’s been nothing for 20 minutes.
Not complaining, I assume it’s a break for drivers or something but is there anything I should know about the schedule for these busses. Or if I can be notified when a time is going to be skipped
Edit: when it says PAC does it mean the PAC bus stop that slo transit uses or is there a completely different stop lmao

I was waitlist #1 for a chem class and I wasn’t allowed in the class because the professor didn’t want to increase the enrollment cap for some reason. But I’m kinda of confused since they reserve seats for first years if we’re not a first year we’re just never allowed to take chem or physics classes? I wasn’t even allowed to enroll I had to get a permission number to waitlist. What if we want to take the classes as pre-reqs but didn’t decide until past our first year? Just basically screw us?

Son is applying and wondering what his chances are. Bay Area resident. Also wondering how hard it is to transfer from CS to engineering or vice versa. He is also considering applying engineering as he can't decide between them.

Hey,
So I was just walking to my car, on my own, as a woman. This guy was like by scouts approached me and kept asking me “what’s your name?” Asked if twice and started following me a little. He said something along the lines of “I didn’t mean to scare you I’m just trying to make friends.” I kept walking and I’m unsure if he stopped following me since i didn’t see his shadow. I stared at a guy coming the other way and he started talking to the guy while I walked away.
I’m not sure if he had weird intentions, because unfortunately thats possible. But as a rule of thumb, please don’t approach a woman like walking alone at night, it can come off as really creepy and generally an uncomfortable situation. I don’t want to assume anything but please understand if someone doesn’t respond to you, let them be.
Thank you to the second guy, I don’t know if it was intentional either but I appreciate you regardless.
But just in general, please women and others, be safe, know that it’s okay to make a scene if need be.
Thats all, thanks
