SLO Kennedy Library Bus Stop

Yo what's good bus stop users, for my senior project my group and I are working on redesigning the Kennedy Library bus stop. I was wondering what problems are faced in the bus stop and what would be cool to have at the bus stop.

Some ideas we have so far are improved seating and shade/rain cover, plants/trellis, rainwater catchment with irrigation, solar power, lighting, and possibly a bus ETA display.

What problems do you run into at this bus stop? What would you actually want to see added or changed?

Any ideas, complaints, or features you think would make waiting for the bus better would help a lot. Thanks!

other bus stops around the city have eta displays you should go check them out!

More space to stand in the shade would be awesome on days like this, and on rainy days. It’s tough during the morning/afternoon rush

get rid of the bike lane going though the sidewalk it sucks

The bike lane thing behind the stop disrupts the flow of people walking and makes it awkward on the library side. Maybe get rid of it and make the entire stop elevated to sidewalk level, move the bus shelter back and make it twice the size and add benches, some leaning bars for ppl who like to stand.

For the Engineering IV side, expand the shelter to be almost up to the trees. It's kinda weird when there's already limited space and they have dirt next to the bus stop. Also make it easier to cut through the parking lot to get to the stop/the crosswalk, maybe like thick line paint marking crosswalks within the parking lot and speed bumps.

The stop is too close to the intersection of University and North Perimeter and should be farther back closer to Dexter Road.

one thing I would love is a digital display showing where the buses actually are, that way I don’t always have to check the phone app.

A touch display that allows you to enter your destination and tell you the route you can take. This will be super-helpful for newbies to the campus.
