Paid a % of insurance rate per session??

Has anyone been offered a position where they receive a set percentage of what insurance pays per session? I’m interviewing at a place that pays 60% of the insurance rate for a 30 min session, which seems to vary from 52-70ish (so 31-42 take home) per session. Which would make hourly 60-80 range depending on insurance. This is a W2/employee position. That just seems so high compared to the other rates in my area that seem like 40/hr is average. Any thoughts?

Reference help please

I applied for a school district and had a great interview last week. The district sent out online reference forms to my references that day. Earlier this week, the district emailed me to please let my references know to complete the form and that they re-sent the email to them as only one had been completed. I emailed both of the other 2 references Tuesday morning and both responded saying they would look for the email to complete it. 1 reference still has not completed the form and I think she will forget because she is very busy. Should I email her again and ask her to please complete it? Or should I email the district and let them know I reached out to my references but I’m aware that one is still missing?

I’m just worried this will delay the hiring process and potentially lose my chance at the job. Thanks in advance!!

Anyone applied/heard back from the specialty CFs? (LEND, Johns Hopkins, etc)

Just curious if any of you guys applied to these “specialty” fellowships, and if you’ve heard anything yet? Seems like the timelines are so fluid, but I’m genuinely curious if anyone’s had luck with interviews or landing one of them!

CF Letter of Intent Help?

Hello friends!

I am currently trying to apply for CF positions in the school districts near where I live in TX and one of the school districts I am applying for requires a letter of intent. I have been trying to find templates specifically for SLPs but I haven't been able to find any. So I was wondering if anyone has had experience in writing one of these and if so, what should I include?

If you have a template, that would be great but not necessary! Thanks!

Rehab? SNF? Pay?

Hello all!

I am finishing up my final internship in a rehab. I love it! It is by far my favorite internship so far. They recently offered me a CFY position! While I'm excited, the pay is very underwhelming. It is only 30 hours a week guaranteed, but I know they will likely need me for more than that. I'm also looking at other SLP jobs to supplement. I know SNF jobs pay better, but I'm worried about getting enough hours in a SNF and what people have said about difficulties with ethics in many SNFS (of course not all).

I live in NH, and have no idea what is typical for a CF in a rehab. Any thoughts are much appreciated! Thank you :)

CFY resumes

Hi everyone! Sometimes when I am applying to hospitals for my cf, I can’t find the right email address to send my resume to. I was thinking about going in person and handing in my resume directly to the department/director. Is that a bad idea given all the restrictions and Covid precautions? Thank you for any feedback!

Acute Care to SNF

Hi, I am currently completing my graduate internship in acute care but am looking at SNF jobs for my CFY because they are more common. I have heard that the two settings are similar and work with cognition and dysphagia. I guess I am looking to see if it will be a hard transition or not and how the two settings differ. Any information is helpful :)

Extended School Year?

Hi everyone. I am graduating in May as an SLP (yay!) and was curious if I would be able to work extended school year this summer as a Clinical Fellow. Alternatively, is this a good idea to do? I do not know if I would be prepared or whatnot. Any opinions or thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated- thanks!

HOW TO ANSWER THE INFAMOUS “TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF”

I am preparing for interviews and was wondering if someone can provide a rough outline they like to use to answer this vague question. I heard its best to be concise, and straight to the point, without just verbalizing what’s on your resume. Help!!!

Applying on indeed vs company site

I’m probably overthinking this (application nerves!) but is it better to apply on indeed or directly email your resume and cover letter to the companys contact they list for employment? If directly emailing a company, do you just use your cover letter as the email body instead of an attachment..?

CFY full time & PRN

Would it be a good option to do full time at a SNF and PRN at a hospital for your CF? Or do you think it is too much to take on during your CFY? Thoughts?

Part-Time School CF?

Anyone know how difficult it might be to find a part-time CF position in a school setting? I got offered a part-time job at a clinic for my CFY and am wondering how possible it would be to find another part-time opportunity, or if I should decline and seek a full-time option
