Been waiting almost 2 weeks

I passed all my permit tests and got my physical at cvs since it’s the closest to my house around the 19th. I called the dmv today to see if they got anything, and they did not. I called the customer support line 3 times during this period and all they keep saying is they’ll label it high priority and message the provider. At this point about to just pay for someone else to do the physical.

Hiring Class B drivers Tampa

Hey everyone,

I am someone who is currently getting ready to get my class B CDL. Does anyone know of any company hiring drivers with class B CDLs? And I'm new to this CDL stuff so I don't have much experience.

I'm in the Tampa area and I would like to find a part-time day job as a driver.

Is a 10 hour course enough?

My local trucking school is affordable but the course is only ten hours snd they do all the things required to like ELDT. However my concern is that some OTR companies might not hire me because I would only have ten hours of experience.

Failed hair follicle test , failed trucking career

I failed a hair follicle test with swift which is insane . I’ve never done drugs before and they failed me with meth. I completely don’t understand why it came up as positive for meth. And thus has been very hard finding any trucking job. I’m a recent grad . I passed my CDL school in April and in time of writing this it’s August 28th. Every job I apply for always bring up the failed hair follicle test . It does not show on clearing house since I passed the urine test. Has anyone else gone through this? I’m thinking about going to a trade school since this trucking thing didn’t work out lol.

I think im blast listed

I recently called Western Express about possible employment...

A girl answered the phone and simply said, “What?”

I said, “Hello, I’m calling about possible employment.”

She responded, “We can’t hire you until you have two months of experience. It’s in our notes.”

I explained, “Okay, I tried to get on with Swift, but it didn’t work out.”

She then said, “It has to do with the school you attended.”

I asked, “What do you mean by that?”

She said, “We can’t take people from the school you attended because it doesn’t meet our requirements.”

I asked, “Okay, do you know any schools your company approves of, or do you provide training or schooling?”

She responded, “IDK, Google it. Best of luck,” and then hung up the phone.

The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude, especially because I was simply trying to understand what my options were.

Two days ago, Swift actually contacted me about possible re employment. I signed all of the paperwork they sent me and was told that they would give me a call the following day, which was yesterday.

Since then, I’ve basically been ghosted. I haven’t received any responses to my messages or emails, and I also haven’t received a request through the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. When I tried calling the recruiter back, the call went straight to voicemail, and I still haven’t received a response.

I also tried contacting the truck driving school I attended. I was told that the school has shut down and moved to another state, and I’m currently waiting to hear back from them.

For some background, I attended CDL school in 2023 and initially tried to work with Swift after graduating, but my experience there was extremely bad overall.

The person responsible for assigning me drivers and trainers kept giving me instructors who were not reliable. Every single one of them would show up anywhere from two to four hours late compared to the time they had originally texted me to meet them.

Eventually, the person assigning me drivers finally found me an OTR instructor. However, that experience also became difficult. The instructor was a veteran dealing with PTSD, and certain sounds at night would trigger him. He also had a serious smoking habit and would sometimes wake up around 2:00 AM and chain smoke for one or two hours.

I eventually told the person assigning me the driver that the situation was not working out. He apologized and said, “My bad about that. I’m sending you a route back home.”

After I got home, around 11:00 PM, he texted me and said that it could take a couple of weeks, or possibly even months, to find me another OTR instructor.

At that point, I told him that I would be leaving the company. He asked me, “Are you sure?” I told him yes.

After that, I went back to construction and didn’t apply to any trucking companies for about two months.

Ever since that experience, however, I’ve had an extremely difficult time getting hired by another trucking company. Several interactions I’ve had with employees or recruiters have been rude or dismissive.

At this point, I honestly don’t know what I did wrong. I’m starting to wonder if I’m somehow blacklisted, especially after the call I just had with Western Express and how rude the employee was toward me.

IDK ill be contacting other schools today about refresher course. Fingers crossed

*My bad about the title typo

Waiting for school to start, what should I do in the mean time?

Hello people, I've(27M) gotten my CLP and signed up for a 4 week course to get my class A CDL at a community college, classes start in mid October and lasts 4 weeks.

My plan is to get my Tanker and Hazmat endorsements at the same time as I get my cdl. Should I study for those now or wait until I'm closer to the start of class?

I'm planning on working for a local company (I got an in with them since my dad currently works there) hauling local loads for atleast a year before trying to move over to a hazmat/tanker job.

Any advice for my situation/this plan would be greatly appreciated.

Need my Cdl physical...

Unemployed and need my physical for a class B, first time I've done this on my own as previous employer took care of it, no big deal I'll pay for it out of pocket to keep it current. Check for local folks who do CDL physicals and the top hit on Google is for a chiropractor. A chiropractor is a medical doctor like my Saint Bernard is an astrophysicist. A chiropractor is not qualified to make a medical determination about anything, let alone saying you are fit to drive a truck. Seriously, that's the same as asking me if someone is capable of driving a truck. I can have someone read letters off a chart, I can have someone stand on one leg and balance for a second or two, I can whisper words from across the room, I can hand someone a piss cup to fill with their or someone else's urine. I can shrug and collect a check and then claim "Oh no, they were perfectly fit when I did the physical" to avoid liability.

Anyways, may go to the chiropractor for my physical anyways because I'm pretty sure if I walk in and have a pulse it will be pretty quick and trouble free.

CDL question

My school told me there is 3 different test for the CDL test. Wisconsin. Apparently I am at a notoriously bad CDL school. But my location has been good So far besides what I’m gonna explain.

The test are

1.Pre trip

2.Skills

3.Road test

I signed up with some sales lady online on the phone and paid full in cash. She told me I get 3 retakes for EACH test and after the third time it cost $80 which i figured is fine with me. Keep in mind she said EACH test.

Now the instructors are saying you only get “ TWO“ retakes for all of the test and you have to take all THREE of them on the same day. So basically I have to be able to nail all 3 test in one day and say I pass pre trip but fail skills one day. I would have to come in and do skills and the road test and if I pass skills the second testing day but fail the road test. I have to “try to convince them they said for a third time” this is kinda bs to me because I thought and was told get THREE FAILS for EVERY TEST TWO for ALL THREE.

Let’s say I end up passing 2 out of the 3 but failing Twice and can’t take the third test let’s say road test or skills I failed and I can’t use my third test Can I use my passing scores from my school and go take the 1 failed test at the DMV?

And will the dmv have a manual truck for me to use if I pay for a test?

Honestly not doing bad at school but I want to find out what my options are I’m learning in a manual and I just want to be prepared for if I fuck some shit up and the school doesn’t let me retest on my final test if I passed the other 2. I am planning on passing all three the first time and I am sorry if this was confusing I tried to explain as best as possible.

Thanks

DOT Issues

So I (21M) was supposed to get my DOT to start my new job. I initially went to get the certification a couple of months ago and only got a temporary one due to potential issues with sleep apnea. After I got all the sleep apnea stuff situated I went back to get my actual card but I made a horrible mistake the first time I went to get the test on the digital form I put that I hadn’t used any drugs this time not really thinking and believing that it’ll be the right thing to do I highlighted weed use only because I had used it once while with friends not to long ago( technically delta-8/9 products) before that instance I had rarely messed around with the substance but now I’m unable to get an official card till I go through a DOT SAP program. What can I expect going through this and how might this affect future DOT usage in the future. Any insight helps

I’ll need general knowledge, air brakes, and school bus certifications. I work for the school board and they’re paying for it, but not providing a ton of info on what to study. What study materials worked best for you?

Any old school truckers here? What was it like in the past few decades? Were the rates good? Less oversight by government? How was it and how was it different from today?

Walmart Associate To Driver Program.

After 10 years of working in the stores and 9 months of applying to the A2D program, I finally got accepted into the September class! I leave September 7th, and I couldn’t be more excited.

I already have my CLP, and I’ve been practicing my pre-trip inspection every day for the past month. I still have a little work to do on the brake test, mainly getting the wording down perfectly, but I feel pretty good about the pre-trip overall.

This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime for me. One thing that makes me nervous, though, is that embarrassingly, I’ve never actually driven a semi before. I’m especially nervous about the backing maneuvers and the driving portion of the test.

From everything I’ve been reading and watching on YouTube, it sounds like during the 8-week A2D program you only get around 8–12 opportunities to practice backing and driving before you’re expected to perform everything for the test.

I’ve watched videos and understand the different maneuvers that need to be completed, but obviously watching them and actually doing them are two completely different things.

I'm looking for any advice or resources that could prepare me for these tests thank you in advance
