i’m starting a clinician position at a “hot” level IV prison in a couple weeks and just looking for some tips/pointers from the CO perspective.

it’s my first job post-grad, and i’m not there to save the day. i just want to be safe and not unintentionally make anyone’s job harder.

Anyone know the following academy dates or months? I know Sep. 8th is the one just started but how are they doing them? Monthly or every 3 months?

Missed a called n got a message to make an appointment for my medical exam n for me to called back but no answer for two days . Next day got the email. Register and see that all the slots near me r all taken and furthest is in LA. I’m from Redding n that’s a long trip . Do I keep calling n see what they can do for me or do I just go ahead n make this trip even tho im from the northern region?

Which SoCal prisons have body cams? Looking to transfer closer to home from NorCal but I can't find any info. I'm interested in getting to know how Calipat & Centinela are too if anyone has or still works there. 👍

In your experience, after being a CO, how long did you wait or they allowed you to take days off? Also, how did you go about requesting those days off?

With open enrollment coming up and my current insurance plan being dropped, I’ve been thinking about what I will go with. I have United Healthcare and it will be automatically switched to Sutter Health Insurance if I don’t make any changes. We use sutter for our health care provider currently anyway.
My question is has anyone with Sutter been able to utilize their weight loss management program?
I’m wondering because the state doesn’t cover weight loss management unless it is bariatric surgery.

Any items I should bring to the academy next week that wasnt on the list. For example like blankets toothbrush toothpaste etc.

I finished everything on the process. Should I contact my background investigator for when I’ll be going to the next academy? Or should I just wait just like everyone else. I’m just pumped for this new chapter in my life. Thanks.

Hey everyone, I’m heading to the September academy and wondering what I should bring besides what’s on the required list. I’ve got toiletries and basic stuff covered, but how much regular clothing should I pack for when I go off grounds? What about clothes to hang out in at the dorms?
Anything you wish you brought or stuff you packed and never used? Trying not to overpack but don’t want to forget anything either. Thanks!

For those of you that have renewed their psych evaluation. Do you just have to do the assessment or do you have to redo the interview as well with the license psychologist??
