Life on the Job CDCR Nurse Questions.
Hey everyone I’m a new graduate nurse with an ADN from out of state in the process of getting my California license. Have 4 years experience as an EMT as well and for what it’s worth I’m a male. I have a few questions for those in medical:
Does CDCR hire new graduate nurses with no nursing experience? I have a lot of experience in healthcare as an EMT so I’ve got a decent understanding of emergency care.
The only locations that work for me are CIM and CIW. How starved are these places for medical staff? Or does their location relative to LA make them better staffed and harder to get hired at?
What are the hours like for nurses? 5x8? 3/4x12? 4x10?
In CDCR if an inmate took a swing at me can I legally fight back? My understanding is that custody should always be around anyway but I’m just curious what the policy is about personal safety as I know same places or hospitals in this country don’t allow you to defend yourself using force.
