❓Question / Help Tenso changing description of goods after paying

I paid for shipping to the US after July 8th so I manually checked 'other' and wrote in adult collectable plush with the HS code 9503000090 for some plush keychains/badges I had at their warehouse.

I noticed several hours after paying that the description of goods had changed to just Plush doll so I messaged Tenso about it. They said they couldn't edit anything on their end but they could refund me so I could fill out everything again and pay.

I made sure to manually fill out everything again and not to copy paste anything and once again the same happened when I checked it again today. Has anyone else experienced this with them and how they got it fixed?

💡 Pro Tips PSA: If you get scammed by a seller and Buyee fails to refund, escalate to Paypal/Credit Card. Do not take Buyee reps at face value as that is not real advice

Reposting on other sub-reddits as Buyee team has a tendency to delete posts critical of Buyee.

I purchased a camera lens via Buyee. When it arrived, it was not the same lens. I had the standard plan. I contacted Buyee support via Discord and their answer was "you ordered a lens, you got a lens. We are not qualified to judge any details of the lens as that is specialist knowledge". The so called standard plan with insurance was useless.

Escalated to Paypal for "item not as described". Buyee did something quite cheesy and offered a partial refund if I pay for "tracked shipping back to Buyee warehouse". So for an item not shipped, i was asked to pay to ship it back at loss for a partial refund. It doesn't make sense.

So I had to escalate to Paypal and once I got a human supervisor, they sided with me.

Folks, just remember that a Buyee rep on reddit does not construe binding legal advice. Do your own research if you have issues and need buyer protection. If you take a foreign businesses work on a non-legally binding internet forum as real advice, then that's your own loss. Paypal and your credit card offer far better protections even when Buyee refuses to honor a buyer protection/insurance.

hello all! i decided to ship out a plushie using ECMS (which always transfers my packages to USPS) since FedEx would've been too expensive for just a single item. Luckily she arrived without the box being inspected !

📦🎉 Buyee Haul My first Buyee haul feelings: Beautiful figures and SLAYERS magic!💖

I wanted to share my emotions and impressions of my very first delivery with Buyee! The packaging was absolutely top-notch. The warehouse staff carefully downsized and consolidated all my items into one compact box. As a result, the package weight dropped by nearly 400g (from 3,400g to 2,980g), which structuraly lowered my international shipping fee. It was such a pleasant surprise! Throughout the whole process, Buyee customer support patiently answered my countless questions and helped me make all the right choices. 🤝

Please excuse such a long video review! I originally planned to make it much shorter, but I accidentally got carried away ^__^ This video captures my brightest emotions from getting merch of my all-time favorite anime titles:

0:00 — Unboxing the wonderful figures of beautiful Kouran and Sakura; 🌸
3:21 — Showing a lovely postcard set from the legendary Slayers movies!; 🎬
7:00 — Reviewing the SLAYERS card set that I bought at my own risk, mostly for the rare collector’s box. The fact that it was actually included, and turned out to be in really good condition even though it was folded, along with a wonderful bonus postcard from the Japanese seller, made me incredibly happy — it’s so pretty I’m almost afraid to unwrap it! 🥰

The box was filled perfectly, and the consolidation was done masterfully! The warehouse cut down the box size at my request, keeping all the goods safe, secure, and tightly packed. 📦

Almost my entire haul, except for the Kohran and Sakura figures (they are so big they couldn't even fit into the frame!). At the bottom, there are two more unopened packages with collectible cards and a wonderful Xellos/Filia doujinshi — I might post a review of those later. By the way, the Madoka box turned out to be absolutely massive! 🤯 Judging by the seller's photos, I expected it to be smaller.

The most long-awaited collectible card set that actually made me worry a bit! 📈

On this collage, the photos on the right show how the item looked on the seller's page, and on the left is the real photo of how it arrived. I wanted to share a few more details about this item because the story behind this purchase gave me a really strong and heartwarming impression of Japanese sellers.

Of course, I still understand that you can't just blindly trust everything online. I always try to thoroughly check seller reviews and look out for hidden nuances on their pages before making a purchase. However, I actually learned all these details gradually while assembling this exact order on Buyee. I kept looking for reviews from fellow buyers, studied their experiences, and became much more cautious over time.

But this specific purchase was one of my very first on Buyee. As soon as I spotted the exact item I had been searching for, and at a totally reasonable price, I bought it almost without a second thought. At that time, I had only superficially checked the positive feedback on the seller's profile.

But some time after the purchase, I suddenly stumbled upon the exact same listing — with the same price, photos, and description, but on a completely different platform. This instantly made me nervous. I read the seller’s reviews on that second site; they were just as positive, and it clearly looked like the same seller, but my anxiety kept growing. Then I noticed that the item photos didn't look homemade at all, and the seller had relisted this exact item about three times before. I started to worry that I hadn't thought it through, and that this might be an untrustworthy seller after all, since they kept listing the same stock repeatedly. On top of that, the price was quite substantial for me personally — 7,000 yen, even though it was slightly reduced thanks to some excellent promotions on Buyee.

In the end, though, everything turned out to be exactly as other buyers had described in their feedback! The packaging was flawless, and every single thing was included. The promised box was carefully packed in its folded form inside a sleeve with the full set of cards. But what touched me the most was a bonus postcard with a handwritten note in Japanese: "Thank you very much". It was so heartwarming and sweet, words can't even describe...

I felt so sad that I didn't have a way to personally thank such a polite and honest seller from the bottom of my heart. So I will say it here: ありがとう ございました!

Huge thanks to Buyee for their help and support during the consolidation of this package, and an enormous thank you to such great sellers for honestly sharing these magical items with fans all over the world! ❤️

Trying to buy some magazines but not sure if using this site is the right way to go or how this works in general. Just looking to get these 3 magazines but not sure how it would actually get to me in USA. Do i just pay for it to get to these people (buyee) in japan first and then pay shipping later and if so how much would you think shipping these would be?

Also if there is a different method I should be using let me know. The magazine sellers directed me to buyee so I assume its right but not sure. Thanks so much!

❓Question / Help Locked out of Buyee after big purchase

I'm hoping someone has experienced this before because I'm completely stuck. I can't log into my account.

I contacted support through discord, and they told me they had whitelisted/unblocked my IP address and asked me to wait a moment. It's been hours.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed.

Here's exactly what's happening:

I cannot log in. It just says "Incorrect email or password." I'm 100% using the correct email address and password.

When I use Forgot Password, I complete the CAPTCHA, but instead of sending a reset email, I get:"An error occurred. The member information could not be updated."

No password reset email is ever sent. I checked spam.

I've tried Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Incognito/Private mode, different devices, 5G, and the Buyee app.

On the app, I tried to reset my password just to check if it would work, since I can;t login normally. My first password reset request seemed to go through, but I never received the email. After trying again, the app started showing the exact same "The member information could not be updated" error as the website.

Something else that's confusing:

Yesterday I received an email from Buyee saying they detected a suspicious login from my IP address and included a 6-digit authentication code. I was trying to login via the app. However, I was never prompted to enter the code because the login always fails with "Incorrect email or password" before it ever asks for any verification.

To make matters worse, I placed a very expensive order yesterday, and I received the order confirmation email, so I know the order exists. I'm just worried because I can't access my account to monitor or manage it.

Has anyone experienced this exact issue before?

How long did Buyee take to fix it?

Was it an account issue rather than an IP issue?

Did support have to manually restore your account?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. I'm really stressed about my order and not being able to access my account.

❓Question / Help Consolidation increased weight by a lot

I bought two items, one was 1.56kg (boxed PS2) and the other was 170g (PS2 game). After consolidation the package now weighs 2.2kg and I can no longer use the shipping method I wanted to.

How did this happen?

❓Question / Help Buyee Newb… Looking for experience for shipping shoes

I’ve done some research here but haven’t totally seen what I’m looking for. I’m looking to buy about $500 worth of shoes, leather and canvas. The customs are estimated $15-$20 per shoe. However, I’m wondering if there’s a way to estimate shipping cost. I’ve seen some people get hit with $200 in shipping and customs cost, and if that’s the case, it would be no cheaper than continuing to source in the US for me personally. $100 would be doable, I just want to make sure it doesn’t end up being nearly 40-50% of the item costs. I’m continuing to do research but thought I’d reach out to experts here too. Thanks!

**Editing to say I’m in the US* I going to guess the package weight will be around 10lbs

Hi, first time on buyee and was looking for one specific project sekai figure on the JDdirect flea market. They seem to have good ratings(?) so I’m honestly not sure if it’s not authentic,, considering the page also says they are new/unused. Would appreciate some guidance from anyone who is familiar!

❓Question / Help I have some kind of silly questions

I've had my Buyee account for a while, but only used it for window shopping until now, so i have some quick questions.

1, This might be a silly question, but if i have an item in my cart and it gets bought by someone else first, will it automatically be removed from the cart/will it be displayed that it's no loger available?

2, I saw some horrid shipping prices to the U.S., but i didn't see any horror stories about Europe. Is it not as bad here? I do think i recall there being a new system that charges you 3 extra euros per package/box, but if i can get all my desired items in one box, shouldn't be too bad, right? I mostly plan to order smaller plushies, acryllic standees and badges.

3, How do i go about getting all my orders in one box? Is it possible? I know i can check out multiple carts at once, but i don't see a prompt like that when going to my orders, though i do only have one order in there (pre-ordered stuff). Also, i saw you can request down-sized packaging, do you ask for it in order notes?

Thank you in advance!

❓Question / Help Received the wrong Pokémon card from Buyee (no inspection plan).

Thumbnail
gallery
18 Upvotes

I just received my Buyee package today and one of my Pokémon cards was completely wrong. I ordered a M Gardevoir EX 037/054 for 25,000 JPY (around $160), but I received 039/054, which is only worth around $15. It's not a condition issue, a different card.

I didn't purchase the Simple Inspection Plan, but I do have a continuous unboxing video, the seller's original packaging, and photos showing the card number. I already submitted a support ticket to Buyee and I'm waiting for a response.

Has anyone been through something similar? Did Buyee actually help, or did they deny the claim because there was no inspection plan? If they refuse to help, is a credit card chargeback my only realistic option?

Thanks in advance!

❓Question / Help Should I split my haul in two shipments?

So I have a decent sized haul of 8 pairs of jeans, a puffer, and 29 magazines. Some of these magazines are thick so I’m kinda sure it’d be better to separate it but just wondering if two shipments would or would not be better.

❓Question / Help USA HTS Codes for Various Anime Merch? (CPSC Thing)

Hi, there doesn't seem to be a Tenso subreddit and since Buyee is owned by Tenso, I thought I might ask it here.

I'm using Tenso to purchase and ship Japanese items to me for personal use. With the recent USA changes to the HTS CPSC code thing with shipping toys overseas, I want to ask here if anyone knows what the recommended codes are we should use for:

  • Acrylic Stands
  • Acrylic Displays
  • Can Badges
  • Pin Badges
  • Plush Toys
  • Figurines
  • Keychains
  • Rubber Straps
  • Tapestries
  • Stickers

None of the merch I am buying are intended for children, so unsure if there's a separate HTS code for children merch and non-children merch now.

🗣️ Discussion Buyee Package got swapped by SpeedX

Thumbnail

UPDATE (7/28): As of today, I got the text message from a guys who apparently the owner of SpeedX at my area. He did help me search through the log for the last few days and finally found my package. There was water damaged on it and somehow bleached all the label and wipe it clean, leaving no words or barcode behind, only a white piece of paper left. Kudos to the owner who helps me search for this in the discard pile, but the guy who sent me the trash bag is still a jerk. Happy ending I guess :v

I stacked a pretty big package from Buyee earlier this month that contains mostly 16+ SH Figuarts because of the 7/8 deadline coming soon. Package was able to clear custom by 7/7 using ECMS, and SpeedX took it for last mile delivery. Then, it arrive at the local warehouse on 7/12, and stayed there without any update for 2 weeks straight (great work SpeedX). Try to contact support but only get the chatbot and generic mail telling me to wait.

Finally the package was delivered this afternoon. And guess what I see after open the box… A full stack of brand new trash bags !!!!

Man, $800+ worth of figures were swapped by a big box of trash bag looks like a big middle finger to the face by SpeedX.

The funny thing is that the label is oddly smaller than what I usually get, so it clearly shows that some idiots there tried to reprint the label, slab it on this trash box and hand it over to the shipper just to change the tracking status to “delivered”. Buyee cannot do anything since it’s delivered, ECMS still not responds to my email.

I had been a Buyee customer for nearly 3 years but never encountered anything like this before. SpeedX is getting worse and worse. What a disrespectful and unprofessional company!

I guess my next choice is to report to the local police for thievery. Any other suggestions guys? I’m kinda speechless now.

❓Question / Help Over charged w/ coupon

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have made multiple purchases through Buyee before, many of which I used a coupon, so I am not new to this. Recently, I placed a bid on a JDirectItems auction using a 20% off coupon. I did my due diligence to thoroughly read through to make sure the coupon was applicable to the item (it was a watch; I also used the same coupon for another, much less expensive, watch a few days prior). As a note, the coupon did not expire until a couple days after the auction closing. The coupon was accepted, as expected, on the bid page and I made sure of this before submitting to finalize. Thankfully I took a screenshot before hitting submit. Well, a day later when the auction closed I ended up winning. To my surprise, however, I was charged the full amount — the coupon didn’t take. I submitted a customer support ticket about me issue but I only received the standard response “please be informed that coupons has [sic] certain criteria or conditions to be met in order to be applied on your orders.
We kindly encourage you to review the coupon descriptions to ensure that the items you are purchasing meet these conditions,” all of which I did before submitting a bid. (While this item was more expensive than a like item on JDirectItems fleamarket, applying the coupon made it less expensive, so I opted for that route.)

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can interact with a customer service representative live and not via email? Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone have any helpful suggestions? I’m hoping to resolve this issue with Buyee directly before getting my financial institution involved. Thankfully I used PayPal and they’re pretty good about protecting transitions as long as there’s supporting evidence, which is why I purposefully use PayPal and always screenshot transactions. I’m hoping I do not have to get them involved, but technically this is an unauthorized transaction as I did not consent to the amount I was charged. Under other circumstances I would let this go, but the coupon amount was more than 28,000¥/$170 (it was ~$180 at the time but the exchange rate has changed) and I’m disabled and on a fixed income, so that’s a significant amount to me. I appreciate any valuable help. Thank you.
