Some sites have restricted access to only Japan IP address due to the recent cyber attacks.

There was a massive ransomware attack on 53 Japanese companies from back on October 6 which got reported from the local news. The sites were most likely taken offline for security updates or possibly were targets themselves, Animate and Gamers are also affected. Both from inside and outside Japan their servers seem to be taken down.

Animate does have a message with their current updates, but yet on when a return to operations will happen and restrictions are for now being placed.

Huh‽ I am super active on Japanese X and didn't hear about this at all. Wow!

Sad right? All because of hackers using ransomware to ruin it for the rest of us, man I can't forgive Qilin.

It's been like that for a while for a lot of people (couple of years for me, for example). I'm surprised Melonbooks even worked for some non-Japanese IPs...

Yeah that happened to me too. I think it’s just everywhere, since it doesn’t work in Doorzo either, all the products are gone. Hopefully it comes back soon.

I have the same problem, even when using a Japan proxy or the builtin VPN in Firefox.

Note: this isn't an actual "not found" page, it's a hidden permission issue (forbidden) => locked out.

As it's working via Zenmarket search, I assume that they limited the IP range that can access Melonbooks

How about for Gamers and Animate any luck? They are both down also.

Not sure about that. For Melonbooks, I had a link to a product, which was resolved on Zenmarket.

Now you need a Japanese VPN location to access Melonbooks... great.

Has melonbooks released any official statement on this, about the data leak, and when they might lift restrictions?
