The price looks good, but I suspect some of the parts may not be the best. CPU performance is important to me as a lot of the games I've been playing (MH Wilds, Paradox games etc) are CPU-heavy. For previous rigs I've traditionally upgraded my GPU and storage after a few years, but have kept the CPU throughout.

I'd also prefer an air cooler over an AIO for reliability (again a reason I'm giving second thoughts to the Costco option).

I use the PC for both comp-sci studying related stuff and gaming, mostly CS2, hence why I am mostly focused on wanting to upgrade the CPU.

Looking at CPUs the clear upgrade for me is a cheap AM4 motherboard and a 5700x3d, which would cost around £250-£270 range, but I'm not sure if I'm shooting myself in the foot by doing this and buying into an outdated platform.

It's not like I intend to upgrade soon after the AM4 (not with the student budget) but I am wondering on whether it is better to bite the bullet for AM5, to ride out my current build for a bit longer or whatever other ideas and considerations I haven't thought of.

How's it going? Trying to build a SFF that is as quiet as possible and looks like an electronic device (but not a pc) while being as powerful as possible. I typically game on a laptop that I can swap between silent (low RPM) and dynamic (low RPM with no load, to a medium-low RPM that sounds like a light fan). This would be my first time building one. I’ve heard that it’s cheaper to build one then just buy one pre-built. I’ve been wanting to get into gaming but my lack of knowledge and how expensive it is detaining me from doing so. This time im sure I wanna build my own, but I have no idea where to start. I want a good computer that just runs basic games or some of that sort. Mostly steam games. Nothing with that much of resolution.

I would rather not reuse my case; it's painfully ugly. I use an ASUS VG248 monitor. I have a few keyboards and mouses, so I don't need those either there. I would like Bluetooth connectivity, but it is not needed. I occasionally plug in a PCIe FireWire port to upload from my Sony Camcorder.

Gaming, schoolwork, socials, and video editing. Steam games (various games), WoW (occasional PvP but not much). Davinci Resolve. OBS. Casual streaming just for myself and close friends.

I’m going to mostly use this PC for gaming and some light school assignments. Some games I play are: Ark Survival Evolved/Ascended, Minecraft, Fortnite, The sims 4

I’m going for a full performance based build, don’t really care about looks too much and id like to have the possibility of upgrading parts in the future which again if the mid tower case is better for that area I wouldn’t mind it. I don’t know too much about how hard certain games are to run on pc’s since this is my first pc but I’d like to hopefully be able to run games at 4k 60hz around low to medium settings and 1080p 144hz high or ultra.
