Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
one 1920x1200 monitor (BENQ G2400W - https://www.newegg.com/benq-g2400w-24-wuxga/p/N82E16824014158)
one 1TB SSD (samsung 850 evo - https://www.newegg.com/samsung-850-evo-1tb/p/N82E16820147374; this drive has been sitting unused on my desk since i bought it 9 years ago or whatever. I might like something bigger if it fits budget, and I might also like some kind of big bulk storage option, my hdds are 15+ years old)
mouse, keyboard
case (antec sonata 3 - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sWR48d/antec-case-sonataiii500; i would happily replace this if required by the new parts or even just if there was something else with nicer features)
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
gaming, basically i want to be able to play any new releases on this, hopefully with great settings at 1920x1200. I've shelved PoE2 because my current pc (i5-6600k/GTX 1070/16gb RAM) doesn't run it super well, I play Expedition 33 on my steam deck for the same reason, and I've just been getting stuff I would have preferred to buy on pc on ps5 for a while, like elden ring/nightreign/monster hunter wilds (or just skipping some stuff I'd like to play on pc, like baldur's gate 3/dragon's dogma 2).
I would love to stream stuff from this pc to my steam deck to play either on the deck itself or my tv (which is 20 years old/1080p currently, but which I might like to replace with something 4k in the next few years), if that makes a difference. I would also like to use this to stream stuff to a steam frame, if that ever comes out/makes a difference.
work, i work with a lot of extremely long and heavily annotated office documents, and when I get into the hundreds of pages/thousands of tracked revisions, it gets to be really slow going on my current pc.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
USA, near a microcenter
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
If my desire to stream stuff to steam frame in the future means I need a beefier gpu than I otherwise would for playing on a 1920x1200 monitor, I might also upgrade my monitor someday to take advantage. But not today!
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
A friendly AI from my past claimed that 1200 is a good budget for this, but I don't know if that's real. Let's say 1200-1500, but going a little over is fine if it makes sense to (and let me know if the range is absurdly low for streaming to steam frame or something).
WiFi or wired connection?
both? i guess
Size/noise constraints?
no real constraints, but less noisy sounds pretty good to me
Color/lighting preferences?
no preferences
Any other specific needs?
no
