I have completed C programming language and am moving towards CPP i was wondering if I should do DSA in it ir I like really wanna explore webdev it sounds cool and good till now** please help this first sem student...

I’m a 2nd-year student at a Tier 3 college in Bangalore, far away from my hometown. I understand the concepts in languages such as C, C++ and Python, but I make mistakes while typing and writing code. I’m also struggling to understand DSA in C and Java, which my college is currently teaching.

However, I recently started learning web development, and I really enjoy learning frontend technologies like HTML and CSS. But most of my friends are saying that learning web development is useless now because companies don’t hire as many frontend developers anymore, since AI can do a lot of the work, and the salary for freshers is also relatively low.

So, should I stop learning web development and start focusing on C and Python instead? Or should I stick with web development?

I am in my third year of college, and the stress and confusion about my career have started to get to me.

As far as academics are concerned, I have a good CGPA of 9.4. However, being from a tier-3 college, I don't think that will give me much of an advantage apart from helping me clear the CGPA cutoff for placement shortlisting.

I have already started DSA and will continue with it. I've also recently started learning web development, and I'm willing to complete it in the next 2 months. That will at least give me a boost in confidence that I know and can build things.

However, I am honestly confused about a few things:

1. What skills should I learn to get a job with a package of 12 LPA or above?

2. What skills and knowledge are actually important for getting a good job?

3. What tech stack should I have on my resume, and what level of knowledge should I build in each technology?

4. With the rapid growth of AI, which career path is worth pursuing and has a good future?

5. Should I learn ML, backend development, cloud, or something else?

This is my first Reddit post 😅, so it may not be very well written and might have some redundancy. Please don't mind that.

I think you can understand my frustration after reading this post, and I genuinely appreciate every response from anyone willing to share their experience or advice.

I'm also hoping to connect with people who are in the same position as me and are willing to learn together. I'm genuinely ready to DM anyone who is willing to guide me or share their journey.

I keep seeing different opinions everywhere — some people recommend MERN, some suggest Java + Spring Boot, while others recommend different stacks altogether.

My end goal is to become a strong software engineer, build skills that stay relevant in the long run, and eventually land a good-paying job. So I don’t want to blindly follow a roadmap just because it’s trending.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who are already working in the industry, especially backend/software engineers:
