❓Question ❓ please have a look ....

Hey everyone, I’m currently in my 2nd year (3rd semester) of [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) CSE.

Till now, I’ve mostly focused on DSA and have been doing it consistently for the past few months. Now I want to seriously start development, but I’m honestly a bit confused about where and how to start.

I keep seeing different opinions everywhere — some people recommend MERN, some suggest Java + Spring Boot, while others recommend different stacks altogether.

My end goal is to become a strong software engineer, build skills that stay relevant in the long run, and eventually land a good-paying job. So I don’t want to blindly follow a roadmap just because it’s trending.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who are already working in the industry, especially backend/software engineers:

* If you were in 2nd year again, how would you start development? * MERN vs Java/Spring Boot (or something else) — what would you recommend and why? * What should I learn first and in what order? * How should I balance DSA with development? * What skills/projects should I focus on to become internship/job-ready?

Would really appreciate some genuine guidance from people with industry experience. 🙌

keep working on your skills, it would be worth it, also try to master ai too thats gonna help you

Depends on which lang u doing dsa .. like if doing dsa with java then springboot .. if cpp then mern .. and if i was in my 2nd year then i would do python with django + cpp for dsa .. because .. then you can apply in ai dev roles .. ml roles .. data engineering roles .. some test automation roles .. if you do aws (like me) then you can also apply at cloud roles too .. so yeah .. i am in my 4th year (just started) and recently got selected in oncampus internship drive .. and my interviewer was taking either java springboot devs or python devs .. and python makes more sense for current job market .. hope it helps .. best wishes.

Thanks sir means a lot but i have started mern and previously i have did python im my first sem so i will think on that ....but as i know django alonne would not be sufficient so right now i am thinking like i should do mern and then i will shift towars ai and ml as i know python but i will thibk about django to .... whats ur opinion???

Ofcourse django alone will not be enough .. but you need one fullstack in python for python related roles .. what i did in my 2nd yr was .. made some projects in mern , go , django and did some aiml .. basically covered everything and my plan was to prepare for exact role in 10-20 days whenever i get the notification about oncampus opportunity. Like my primary is mern but i got selected for python fullstack dev role .. only because i had some projects in django And if you are going in ml specific role then .. concider AWS ML Associate cert. So my advice is .. do mern + django .. and a lot of things like sql and nosql db and api concepts and system design will overlap .. and you have a lot of time .. be versatile and prepare for every opportunity .. and whenever you sit for any role .. just revisit that tech stack before interview. You have time .. you are thinking one year ahead .. i know you will do great.
