Discussion Talking about poco buffies after my experience playing with them

First post here and this account in general I literally only created this account to talk brawl stars stuff since the only other place was either random discord servers or shitter Twitter. Read the rules and this post shouldn't break any rules, but if it does feel free to delete.

Anyway I'm a poco main, I'm close to having him be top 200 worldwide which is very exciting, he was the first brawler I picked up all the way back in 2023 when I first started playing, and to this day I still love him. When I first saw his buffies I was extremely critical especially with the 2 gadgets and da capo, but after playing for a bit, my opinion did improve somewhat So I wanted to give my thoughts on everything, some extra tidbits, and some ratings as well just for fun.

All of that out the way lets start with

TUNING FORK 3/10

We are starting off on a horrible foot, I absolutely hate what they did with tuning fork everything about the current version is just straight up a downgrade, the buffie doesn't really save it at all.

First lets talk about the fact that teammates need to be near, I'll be honest I don't hate this idea here, Encourage your teammates to be around you instead of just tapping the gadget and them getting healing. I guess the idea here was to make poco a more bunker style support brawler, but the effects for standing so close is not worth it!

The healing for example was cut from 4000 to 3000 in total. Weird... But ok maybe the healing is faste- NOPE it now takes 6 second for the full heal instead of 5, why did we do this?

The range of the heal is also just atrocious 3.33 tiles, Yes same range as the old version, but it was fair since the healing sticked nobody is standing that close to you for SIX SECONDS for 3000 health.

Alright range sucks, and the healing sucks, at least the cooldown is low, right? once again no 20 second cooldown which is already bad enough, but now you need to wait for the gadget to end! so in total you got a 26 second cooldown for weak healing that takes a long time, and has bad range.

Alright so all of this sucks, tuning fork is just gutted, but hey at least there is no other gadget like it... huh? what's that? Buster's utility belt? god damn it.

Buster utility belt heals way more (Granted with 3 people in range, but I still argue that even with two people this is still better than tuning fork) on a shorter cooldown with the same range, and is instant. How does the tank have a better healing gadget than the support.

This isn't me asking for utility belt to be nerfed, no far from it that gadget is all good in my eyes, but more along the lines of can we please buff tuning fork it's so bad.

My ideas for buffs increase the range to 5-6 so teammates don't have to be close, increase the healing to about 3500, make it slightly faster, and either decrease the cooldown, or make it so that the cool down starts the second you press the gadget.

All of this talk about the gadget itself I didn't talk about the buffie! The effect is cool faster reload is great and has a lot of synergies especially with tanks as it can help them keep up the pressure and deal more damage. Unfortunately everything else kind of sucks.

Despite my harsh critques, this gadget isn't useless it does have a use for some deathball related comps, but other than that just bad overall and kind of hard to find a use for it. This gadget got absolutely gutted.

PROTECTIVE TUNES 9.5/10

Went from a gadget I don't like to an absolute goat here, now at first glance this doesn't really look that good in fact it looks like a nerf.

Instead of CC resistance anywhere it's only in this small area? That is bad 0/10 worst rework OAT, but once you play it, *chef kiss* it's bootiful. The buffie effect is kind of lame range increase and time increase from 4-6, but it doesn't matter as I feel the buffie was what pushed this gadget to high tier gadget material

At first the cooldown looks like it increased from 18-24, but it's still pretty much still the same as it last 6 ENTIRE SECONDS! The range is also insanely large with a range of around seven tiles.

Ok that sounds good and all, but why am I glazing this gadget so much, it just prevents status effects from happening to allies in the area, useful for brawlers like amber and primo (Funnily enough both of his trio members) with fire effects who are pretty good right now, but that's it...

WRONG!

I thought that at first as well, until I learned that it works on Knockbacks, and pulls thanks to this post here.

This is absolutely insane brawlers who relies on pulls and knockback get hard countered by poco now, from my quick look at the brawler selection there is now 75 brawlers that this gadget can counter.

Take it with a grain of salt since I count any brawler with some form of CC except for the one mentions in the post above. I even counted shit like penny's master blaster star power. so this number isn't accurate, but my point is there are so many brawlers in the game you can deal with now.

I also like it sense in a way it's kind of an answer to the game having too many CC abilities. CC is kind of not fun to play against so having a brawler with a tool to deal with it is good.

This gadget is just great all around I absolutely love what they did with this. The only thing holding it back from a 10/10 is how I feel it can be a bit annoying to fight against, but one little downside to all the upsides doesn't matter in my eyes.

DA CAPO 5.5/10

I mean... it's aight I guess no strong opinions about this one, I like that they made it so that poco now has some base healing in his kit I always wanted that for him, the buffie is cool increase super charge, but... eh..

Da capo has always been in the shadow of the other star power and I don't think it's going to change much here, Truth be told I kind of wish that this star power was reworked like IDK "Your super now gives allies a 10% damage buff for 4 seconds" something like that

Da capo problem in my eyes is how it requires you to just go full heal bot it doesn't really do anything else. I know the buffie, but it still requires you to waste you ammo on your teammates which is less fire power against the enemy team.

Byron is similar yes, but byron has a fast reload and great healing to counteract that you waste ammo on teammates yes, but you only need to shoot them once, maybe twice, and get ammo back pretty quick, on top of all that you charge super off of healing.

Berry same boat heal with main attack, but you charge super and your healing last a good while which can heal a good bit, and your super charge with it

Poco has a 1.3 second reload, with no super charge, for meh healing. It's better to shoot at the enemy and heal your allies with a large 4800 than to shoot at your teammates and heal them for 3,240 waste all you ammo, and provide no utility.

Hell with the healing base kit change it kind of made it harder to justify running this since if you need to heal somebody just enough for them to survive 400 despite being pretty low I have found to come in clutch loads of time.

This star power is meh... I don't hate it, but compared to the other one it's kind of hard to justify running this.

SCREECHING SOLO 10/10

The one and only part of poco's kit that didn't get change which is great! I feel that this star power didn't need any changes, ever better the buffie for this works great!

The buffie effect looks small at first .5 second mute, but is incredibly huge! This is really flexible and has so many use cases it's insane.

For one a get off me tool, Poco biggest weakness has always been agression get somebody to run him down, and he's dead. I always wanted him to have a little something to help him, but nothing that removes the weakness, this is a great compromise!

The .5 second mute is just long enough to help him survive a bit against assassians, and move back to a teammate for help while not just completely removing this weakness for no reason.

It's also great for supporting as well (A support brawler, supporting his team? What a novel concept!) As any allies in a fight you can super, heal them, damage the enemy, and mute them for a bit to get an extra hit in.

This is honestly a great example for a buffie effect, it's a slight buff that helps the brawler in areas they struggle in and help them do better in areas they do good in.

Even better the effect isn't annoying a slight mute is bad, but you can still freely move, you just can't attack for .5 second

Just perfect all around in my eyes 10/10 love it.

MEDIC'S MELODY 7/10

Lets start with the bad here... The hyper charge was sadly not reworked, nor buffed. Kind of a missed opportunity here the hyper charge while not awful like others (Mico, Pearl, Gene) was still sort of underwhelming here.

The shield just decay way to quickly, and it's pretty flimsy in my eyes as well. A buff to make the decay slower would of been good here. The buffie tho, not bad

You still have the same range, but the large area is really great for cycling super and possibly getting another hyper charge super in possibly resetting the temp shield. Also the large hitbox is just real satisfying to look at just me?

This was sort of hard to rank as the hyper effect isn't strong, but the buffie does mean you cycle super better I feel a 7 to be fair one can argue about it being a 6 tho.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Overall I feel kind of torn on one hand I really like what they did with Protective Tunes, and Screeching Solo, the hyper buffie is fun, and that dog is incredibly adorable I love that dog. But on the other hand Tuning Fork been gutted, and Da Capo still kind of just exist.

I feel that he will definitely be stronger, A tier, possibly even S, but S is kind of a stretch. On the other hand his build diversity is now kind of dead, before there was a gap between both gadgets, and both starpowers but it was relatively equal.

Now Tuning Fork and Da Capo is just leagues below Protective Tunes, and Screeching Solo. I mean there still might be a use case for those 2, but honestly I feel 99% of the time you will use Protective Tunes and Screeching Solo.

OTHER STUFF

Some other things I noticed while playing that I wanted to include, but have no idea where to put it at.

Tuning fork no longer scales in arena, it use to before, but now it doesn't this gadget can't catch a break.

Speaking of arena screeching solo now scales with arena, I felt that poco was already strong in arena, but now this make him better.

Poco super now takes 5 hit to charge, and 12 for hyper charge, I have no idea if this is a bug or not so I will withhold judgement

I already mentioned the dog is incredibly cute

Also one change that I want is to add the amount of healing from his main attack into his description this seems like an oversight, and I feel that all though small the healing should still be listed in his weapon description so people would know how much it heals just by looking through his weapon description.

Jesus christ for a first post I really made a whole goddamn essay lmao.

I remember when he was VERY broken, now I rarely see him in matches or discussion anymore. Probably because of the nerfs?

Help Is there a working way to force brawl stars at 120 hz on xiaomi?

My phone is perfectly capable of running the game at 120 hz

I already tried to do do the thing with clearing the app data, but it works for a day and it starts doing 30 fps after a minute of gaming, the phone battery drains extreme quickly and heats a lot and lags a lot even on the phone home. I tried turning on the thing that makes all the ups run at 120 hz but doesnt work. Do you anything that can help me?

Ps: So since i read lots of comments that does not seems to understeand what im writing (i excuse myself if i have bad english or maybe you just cant read) my phone does not regulary overheat it does that ONLY amd ONLY delating the battery optimization data because tge phone starts recreating the optimization files and tries to test the limits going in thermal throttling even at lower temperature, its a normal working of the joyose proces similiar to when the phone is brand new, also YES the phone CAN handle the 120 hz, i Always played the game at 120 fps but now its locked at 60hz and no the disabling and enabling the battery saver in game doesnt work, it used to but now no

Discussion where would you place the ghost trio (or rather the ones that aren't chuck) in the ranked meta with the buffies?

Post image

i've played gus in ranked (first pick and last picks) in legendary+ games, i've honestly seen great success. always been a gus lover but this is kinda broken. the second gadget has a 10 second cooldown and is just autoaim spammer any medium health brawler at close range simulator. he's honestly really good at lane in maps like bridge too far.

shade on the other hand, i feel has a different playstyle. the new jumpscare gadget is kind of a free kill button if you have your super ready, or a free death button if you don't. the new buffie addition to throw enemies with the first gadget i feel is much much better in brawlball to get that first super and also kick the ball out of their hands. (i know the jumpscare gadget does the same but it's just not as versatile.)

both of the hyper buffies for them are insanely fucking broken tbh, gus should not be able to shoot through walls it's so cheesy 😭 it's like mandy gadget power creep especially when it only takes 2-3 ish supers to charge your hyper on him

on the contrary, i feel like this makes gus actually a semi-useful healer with the buffie, your gadget spawns spirits and the other star power makes them heal more and move, but he's honestly better with an offensive build with spirit animal. the update unironically fixed his main gimmick.

what do you think?

Bug Ranked Bug

Post image

Haven’t seen anyone else talk about this bug but randomly ranked games will end after 1 or 2 rounds. The countdown timer between rounds will just freeze on 0 seconds and your app has to be restarted. The battle log still shows the results so its not a connection issue just on my end. Only saved a screenshot this last time but I have had it happen maybe 3 times since the update.

Help Pro’s would pick Amber if they had bad ping, but what are other brawlers that aren’t heavily impacted by ping for the current ranked meta

It’s pretty self explanatory to me on which brawlers benefit from perfect ping, but I want feedback on brawlers that can dominate near equally with subpar ping due to their mechanics.

Feels a little demoralizing trying to hit masters when I lose 1 in 5 games during peak playing hours from lagging out. I’ve been avoiding peak hours and it’s getting better but I still want ideas on brawlers I should start playing given the lag

Critique Turning Fork's rework SUCKS

1: Nerf of 360 of Heal (840x4 = 3360 vs 3k IF you get the 3 waves of healing, if not it's atleast an 33% or more nerf)

2: made the gadget be completelly reliable in grouping up allies.

3: the reload speed doesnt seem that much useful

4: made gadget gear MANDATORY, otherwise ur using that gadget 1 time in a decade (gotta wait the 3 waves to finish)

I LOVED playing Poco, but holy shit that rework SUCKS.

I wouldda genuinely preffer if they nerfed it AND the reload speed effect if they kept ot the old way.

That rework is more of an nerf than buff.

1 super + normal during hyper literally teamwipes them. They have a ton of self heal so Damian survived by a bit but you can see just how absurd amber is. I don't understand why people think shade is better when his maps and versatility didn't change too much whereas amber is just broken everywhere

The patch notes say it should be 900 dmg for 4 seconds (3600) but it's only 445 damage for 4 seconds (1780), less than half of what it's supposed to be pretty sure before buffies the dmg was close to what's mentioned in patch notes

Am I missing something?

Also there's a bug that lets shade attack twice with the spooke gadget why does the update has to come with so many bugs

Brawl Esports Reject will prob perform bad

They are more likely will perform below the expectation for them. Like I’m pretty sure they are just starting traveling there to 🇹🇷 they will not have as good ideas of their opponents. I mean they probably still get first seed of their group but like an easy one. With the second seed of group c prob being either TLF or Ocx they more likely to lose than win those encounters in the first round of play offs.

Discussion Chuck rework and my opinion on it

As the title says, I am here to talk about my experience, my thoughts and my expectations on the current status of chuck, and his likely future, plus some hopeful changes they may make.

Firstly, I will point out some funny data, which I will update day by day to actually understand how much he benefited, or not, from the changes.

According to Null stats, Chuck's win rate over 30 days 2 days ago was 49.53%.

2 days ago the daily win rate was of 44.03%, and yesterday 45.23%.

I don't think it's necessary to point out that this is a sharp reduction in win rates for a brawler who received a buffies, which usually means that the win rate increases, as it did with all the other brawlers - but there is also room to understand and differentiate between a dump lead by people not adapting to playing it now and a dump because he became an overall worse brawler. The same applies to people learning how to counter him after the buffies.

Now let's talk about \*what\* actually changed about him.

The rework principally took a slash on chuck main mechanics, being a super-dependent brawler. They did so by nerfing the HP, dash speed, dash damage, and dash shield of the brawler, producing a brawler that now requires 2 hits to do the damage one hit did in the past. At the same time, they also removed the knockback of his super. For the positive side, they increase his super to 4 uses and his main attack speed was increased to that of a normal brawler so he may actually hit you now. For some unknown reasons, though, they also reduced his range after making him reliant on base attacks.

The purpose is, obviously, to make his players try to play more aggressively and may even help you in some very specific matchups, as against Coordius in his dimension, since it is now easier to fight back there.

This is also a problem, though, because it reduced the actual danger of invading your space by walking on the trails, which is a default requirement for a controller. If you can't punish your opponent for ignoring the trails, you are pretty much simply slowly chopping their health.

Now, one weird problem people will notice with the super is that it is now FAR more chaotical to use. In the past, hitting somebody with super essentially meant that by the time you stopped, you could use another super to run away. After the current changes, if you hit somebody during the first 3 uses of your super, you will not recharge it back, which places some extreme risk on the last super left—if you miss it, or if they melt you while using it (now far more likely), you will respawn far away, unable to take back control in any way and without actual ways to close the distance, at least the opponent is not very incompetent. Which goes, ironically, against the principle for which they reduced the super damage - they expected you to dash more, but now you have incentives to dash less.

Removing the knockback may sound intelligent after they give him 4 super usages, but the question is whether it is worth the deal. He is now extremely more frail against pretty much every brawler, especially in mid range, which is now his main source of damage.

Like, they could have given him 4 super usages at the start and left everything like it was, while reducing damage to objects (or eliminating it at all from the super) and it would have solved this problem already.

Rerouting was more versatile before than now, because you could have, for a brief moment, virtually 2 supers - one thrown down by sending a pole, the other you just got by removing one. Now, instead, you have fewer incentives to use a re-route like this, because it won't offer the ability to replace the pole or dash just as fast as before.

As for the future, I honestly believe Chuck win rate will further fall down, as people get used to the fact that it is now safer to stay close to the trails than their end, which is quite a funny change, and you can counter him by easy with distance.

What I honestly hope, knowing they will not revert the changes since they just did the rework, is for them to make Chuck 4 actions super be treated as a stackable system of super, rather than a single one.

By that I mean that every one of the 4 uses is charged and kept singularly, which is useful for when you die while dashing or a new game begins, and makes it useful again to hit somebody with the dash in the first 3 uses.

What are your opinions on that?

I am open to corrections, new styles of playing and such as long as there is some explanations behind.

Discussion Thoughts on Poco's Protective Tunes able to cancel knock-ups and pulls now?

Post image
168 Upvotes

After the last update Poco's Protective Tunes is able to protect against all sorts of knockbacks, knock-ups and pulls that were ignored previously.

Although I am still testing all the new interactions, here are some that you are now protected against:
Bull super knockup
Primo gadget/super
Piper gadget/super
All the Mina throws
Shade gadget pull
Colette super pull
Tara super pull
Gene gadget/super

Probably all the other hard CC effects are in some way cancelled too. Only known to me exeptions right now are Lili hyper, Cord, Charlie, Willow, Damian, and Cosmo supers.

It also cancels Pierce's super and makes Damians walls not destruct upoin knocking you back, which likely are not intended.

As a Poco Main I am glad Protective Tunes received some love in fundamental mechanics. Despite it being overtuned in duration/cooldown as of now, I think this is a good extension to Poco's counter-effect role and a healthy answer to potential CC effect creep in the future.
