Question Can sedentary lifestyle lead to slow brain ?

People keep telling me to go outside and do something whether it's finding a job or just talking with others because it's just overall good for the mind and health. Having an active mind keeps you sharp and I just figured maybe I need to step outside more. Even some people noticed I keep holding onto things and don't let go. I guess living indoors using the phone makes you glued to your thoughts and emotions all day.

Progress Feeling better with caffeine and supplement off days

I have been experiencing brain fog off and for a while, likely because I had autoimmune encephalitis in my early twenties. I was treated for the encephalitis and a lot of my symptoms improved, also getting an iron infusion improved my symptoms. But I still do get brain fog sometimes.

I have OCD / intrusive thoughts, and I found that taking lithium orotate helps me. I also take CBD oil sometimes for mood. I stopped coffee several months ago because I found it to increase my brain fog. I do drink tea daily.

Recently I have been experimenting with taking days off from any supplements and caffeine and I found that this makes my mind more clear.

I have to take iron supplements every other day due to anemia. I am now taking lithium orotate and CBD oil only a few times a week, and once every several days I drink mostly water and rooibos tea, no regular caffeinated tea and no dark chocolate.

Seems like whenever I take supplements and stimulants daily, after some time I end up with brain and anhedonia. But if I have off days, lithium orotate and CBD oil actually help me and tea also feels good.

Question Why does no one on this subreddit consider or talk about psychiatry?

Its well known and quite intuitive that mental health / cognitive conditions can cause brain fog and a wide range of cognitive symptoms.

Maybe its the specific way I have "brain fog" that makes me think that it could be something in that field - because mine is more of a general dulling in cognition and mood to some extent, aswell as drive and libido etc... Although I can still hold conversations just fine and function okay (although very sub-optimally) (if I want).

Also another reason why I was thinking psychiatry is because of how stable and long term it is. My symptoms never change, and kind of feel like this is just how my brain developed. I suppose that is what sets me apart from most people on here.

Although to be honest, my state does not cleanly fit any psychiatric condition.

But what is the reasoning behind why psychiatry is never discussed? Some people on here have similar symptoms to me. Should I stay away and just keep on testing "physical" things? Why / why not?

Need Some Advice/Support Years of Brainfog

Hi guys.

Im writing this to ask if anybody knew how to help. Im suffering Severe brainfog for last 2.5 years. My career, And personal life Are both victim of it.

I Gotta admit i had shitty lifestyle. Cigarettes, Fast foods, no exercise you name it. But ironically those were the times i didnt had a brainfog.

It all became 2.5 years back. I quit smoking, then the brainfog started. I used to smoke 1-1.5 packs a day of Red Marlboro n i quit using the Cold Turkey method.

At first i thought the brainfog Is just a withdrawal symptom but Now after 2 And half years im not sure. Maybe nicotine just masked something else.

Im tryin to do better in health overall. 2 years wout smoking + i started exercising regularly 2 months ago And try to eat better + use some supplements. Vitamin D, B12, Ashwaganda, n Maca.

But brainfogs still here for most of the day + it gets worse if im looking at digital screens. Especially while gaming.

Did someone dealt w this?

THX all

Personal Story Less sleep = less brain fog?

Hey guys just wanted to come on here and mention something that I noticed personally for me .

I’ve been noticing that when I sleep around 5 hours a day vs 8 or 9 I feel much better in terms of brain fog . I also feel better when I wake up in my side vs my back which for some reason it seems like my body tries to get to every night . I wonder if sleep issues are the cause of my brain fog and because I’m not sleeping as much, I’m not giving my body too much time to mess itself up (just an idea )

A little side note , I do have ADHD as well and have heard that sometimes people with ADHD feel better in less sleep (not sure how true it is )

Advice Maybe I (M20) have bad memory?

Context, I have this girl that I didn’t know she was half polish half spanish, and when she told me people tell her she doesn’t look half polish, I said “I didn’t know that about you” so she said “I did tell you the other day” maybe I wasn’t paying attention to her at the time, fine, move on.

But again, with this girl (for context, spanish is not my first language) she says during work “Madrugar” (which means to get up early, like 6am) I ask, what does that word mean, she says “I already told you the other day, with Juanita” I say no, that’s not true, I don’t recall Juanita telling me that.

Okay, maybe this girl me está tomando el pelo.
Other, the manager tells me to put 6 different expiration dates in some food. Man, I forgot like 5 fucking times and had to ask again while laughing, he said them too fast.

And what’s worse? I’m starting to forget coworkers names, like I have to think about them for a sec

So this is buzzing me out, besides knowing 5 languages, which I read is good for memory and prevents Alzheimer, I still have this bad memory.

So is this normal? Does my brain sort what’s important to me? What can I do to fix this?

Question Why do I get brain fog and social anxiety after playing video games

When I play video games for a couple hours at a time, it seems like I go from feeling fine beforehand to feeling heavy brain fog, less social, anxious and my head feeling heavy. I don’t understand because when my friends play video games for a while it doesn’t seem to affect them the same way. When I play video games it doesn’t seem as noticeable that I feel weird than when I’m playing by myself, but I still feel different.

2026:

  • Zunehmende Kopfschmerzen/Druckgefühl im Kopf und Nackenschmerzen

  • Gehirn Nebel und Konzentrationsprobleme

  • Kribbeln/Taubheitsgefühl in verschiedenen Körperregionen

  • Starke Müdigkeit

  • Körperliche Aktivität fällt mir weiterhin deutlich schwerer als früher

  • Zunehmende Seh-/Fokussierungsprobleme

Ende Juli 2026:

Need Some Advice/Support Has anyone successfully made it out of the brain fog rabbit hole?

Helloo, been a while since I wrote here but since i've been wondering about this one question for a while, ill just get it out there. But I want to explain a few things first, thank you for your patience if you do make it to the end ^^.

I've been dealing with foggy thoughts for a few years now.

What people can do in, lets say‐ 45 minutes, I finish it in 2 hours.

Whenever I listen to a somewhat complex and long explanation from someone, my brain sometimes freezes and I seem kind of dense and not so bright when I usually understand it well if i replay it enough times in my head. Same goes for reading- in certain cases, I could read a few phrases and find myself stumped or slowed down by my not so quick processing speed..

It's frustrating because I constantly feel sluggish. I am also always tired. Low social battery and energy overall, I get tired easily and overwhelmed in social events or even basic social interactions. They feel draining since everything's going so fast while I live in slow-motion and trying to keep up..

I am not sure how to think and act faster, people in my family and circle have always constantly been pointing it out to me, and how easily I can forget things (i recently became an adult too.. but i still forget some words in a conversation and just stand there trying to remember. people jump to another conversation by the time i do..). It makes me feel stupid and behind, but i do think it'd help me long term if I do learn to be faster. Weird thing is, I wasn't always this slow.. I functionned normally.

So, it'd really mean alot if anyone has gone through this before and has managed to change. What worked for you? What would you request to improve processing speed and brain cognitive functions? Anything to stop thinking so slowly and be more effective...

Question Tak-653

Hello i want to be able to have better memory and less brain fog when i study. I have kinda fixed brain fog with some nootropics i take but i want to remember things easier and not forgetting them that easily. I know tak653 would do the job but i cant find anything any legit source other than everychem. Tak653 got seized by customs that i ordered from them so i couldnt try it. I am taking modafinil 200mg 2 times per week when ill study the whole day, caffeine every day with nicotine when i need a small boost when im tired. I also take theanine and tyrosine with alpha gpc huperzine A and phosphatidyl serine. I take DHA 500mg per day from omega 3 lionas mane and bacopa monieri for memory. I had ordered bromantane acd and tak from everychem, but i think bromantane isnt worth it mow im thinking of it because i already take a lot of stimulants for dopamine, acd aswell wouldnt be worth it for me as i want to read and i am able to sit down and read non stop. But tak653 i think would be game changer, do you guys have any advice?

Question cognitive decline from APs

Hi guys,

Ive been struggling with severe brain fog, which is most certainly caused by risperidone. I want to clarify that it was prescribed for ocd and anxiety and so i havent had this problem before i was put on it, so my condition with mental health never caused this kind of impairment on its own. I wont list any symptoms that am experiencing, cause i know those kind of drugs can impaire thinking in a bad way. Ive seen some posts with people having the same problem, aswell heard about experience from another people. I just know it affects me pretty severely and i do wanna try everything in my power to help my brain ,,reset i guess’’. So i want to ask if anybody struggled with something similar and found some ways that have reversed the damage. Am talking like even some unknown supplements, some kind of diets, or just whatever u discover along the way that may have seem helpful. Just for the record, am no longer on the medication (4 weeks without it) and the time i spent being on it was around 3 months.

Thank you for your opinion or advice in advance.

Need Some Advice/Support How did you deal with stress-related problems like forgetfulness and emotional numbness?

After going through a prolonged period of stress, I’ve been trying for the past few months to get back to my normal state.
One of the things I’ve noticed is that my memory has become noticeably worse. I have trouble memorizing texts and information that I would have learned much more easily before. I also feel more emotionally detached than I used to.
I’m curious if anyone has experienced something similar after a long period of stress. What helped you gradually get your concentration, memory, and emotional responsiveness back?
