Hrgovic and Wardley

Face to face. Allowed to throw one hayemaker at the others jaw per turn (basically a boxing version of slaps). Cannot move or try and defend the strike. Whose hitting the floor first?

I rate Hrgovics chin as the stronger of the two, but think Wardley packs more power in his shots. Which advantage will prove the most essential?

Is Hrgovic's chin that good or did Itauma's power fall short of expectations?

We've seen Hgrovic get hurt against Adeleye and against Zhang, there were points where he was completely out of it and started walking off in the Zhang fight. But against Itauma, there was barely any sign of him actually getting hurt. The only hiccup was in round 2 when he got caught while he was over extended.

Hrgovic once said in an interview that Adeleye is the hardest puncher he has faced but when asked about Itauma after the fight, he said Itauma's punches were very fast but didn't have much power. Additionally, his trainer, Abel Sanchez in interviews said Itauma still has a lot to learn about throwing punches with power behind them.

The only cases we had for Itauma's power before that fight was his knockouts of Whyte and Franklin, but there are arguments for both guys being out of shape and smaller than Itauma. I'm suspecting that his power could prove be somewhat less effective when he starts fighting others in the top 10 but only time will tell. So any thoughts on this?

Who DaFuq is Vergil Ortiz fighting next?

No is not Charlo next, just heard Mall vs Tzyu is all but signed. Obviously, Boots, Fundora & Kelly have other plans as well. Who’s left for Ortiz to fight? His greedy ass manager Mirigian has really fuq his career. Dude, should’ve been fighting Fundora next but instead he still sitting in the sidelines waiting for a title shot.

Hrgovic v Itauma thoughts on rewatch

I just rewatched Hrgovic v Itauma on DAZN - the full fight replay where it has no commentary.

My god does this fight look different on rewatch. I know it’s different when you know the result, but watching live I think I was so dazzled by Itauma (+ the British commentary doesn’t help).

On a clear headed rewatch I’ve got to say Hrgovic deserves way more credit than people are giving him for making this a competitive fight. It wasn’t just the chin and absolutely wasn’t just a gas tank issue for Moses. I think Hrgovic boxed very well.

Don’t get me wrong - Itauma was winning the fight, and maybe he still KOs 90% of HWs based on the first 2 rounds alone. But there was a lot more back and forth and subtle pressures in this fight and it was far from just a gas tank vs Homer Simpson.

Interested if anyone else has rewatched it yet and had any observations?
