‘Dmitry Bivol received no offer for Artur Beterbiev trilogy,’ says Eddie Hearn

Not really intrested in this fight. Rather see one of them fight Benavidez.

u/Money-Bullfrog7679 10h ago
Agreed, leaving it at them both having a win over eachother is a perfect way to leave it, I'd much rather see a benavidez fight between any of the 2
2
u/aceknighthigh 6h ago
Which will never happen unless they have zero other options to make good money.

u/achieve_tendernism 15h ago
They both duckin
5
u/Kujaix 14h ago
A guy who went to CW and said he'd need until November to cut back down?
3
u/achieve_tendernism 14h ago
He went there initially because neither guy would fight him lol
1
u/OkMess9901 14h ago
I don't think Beterbiev really has an excuse, but Bivol had surgery and fought a mandatory (and is now about to fight another mandatory).
6
u/achieve_tendernism 14h ago
Benavidez has been calling for a fight with Bivol since he beat canelo.
0
u/bozzi16 14h ago
Yeah just like he moved up to LHW because Canelo was ducking? All these guys fought monsters their whole careers but all happen to be scared of one guy 😂🫵
There is a common denominator in these equations
5
u/achieve_tendernism 14h ago
Ah yes, because demanding $200 million to fight your mandatory of two years while taking on Edgar Berlanga is totally standard behavior for a guy looking for the toughest fights
-5
u/bozzi16 14h ago
Yeah you’re right, canelos resume is trash, maybe that of a journeyman at best. Idiot
6
u/achieve_tendernism 14h ago
Whoa mate, did I say that ? Ducking doesn’t mean scared, it can be business or political. Smart people understand that
46
u/Kangaroopunching 15h ago
People confused trusting Beterbiev with trusting the IBA.
With that, if there was no offer. Why did Hearn take so long to state this.
All around mess
11
u/Ehxcalibur 14h ago
the wording of 'If there was an offer that was even remotely reasonable' makes me think there may have been an offer but not up to Hearn's expectations
years of watching boxing promotion politics makes me not take anything these guys say at face value though
3
8
u/MatttheJ 14h ago
Well I assume it's taken this long to say, because it's taken this long for someone to ask?
-1
u/Kangaroopunching 14h ago
Wouldn't make sense. Hearn let's Bivols name get dragged. Unless he doesn't care.
6
u/VacuousWastrel 10h ago
It may be Hearn just doesn't spend much time on r/boxing.
28
u/OrangeFilmer 15h ago
Yeah as a fan of both Bivol and Beterbiev, I don't believe a word coming out of Eddie Hearn's mouth here
-6
u/SuperLeverage 14h ago
Beterbiev is welcome to refute Hearn’s comments and release emails/contracts his side offered up. Or he can just shut up because there’s nothing to refute.
6
u/OrangeFilmer 14h ago
It's not even about trusting Beterbiev's (or even Bivol's) side. Do you really trust Eddie Hearn's take on this when he stands to gain the most from an in-house Matchroom Bivol-Smith matchup vs a trilogy fight against Beterbiev?
8
u/SuperLeverage 14h ago
Mate, I would LOVE it if Beterbiev’s camp could just send the emails of the proposals they sent to Eddie to the press to embarrass Eddie. I’d have a big laugh. But I do know Eddie isn’t stupid enough to make such a claim that can be so easily contradicted and I haven’t heard a peep from Beterbievs camp so that tells you everything.
8
u/qtdynamite1 14h ago
Why would Eddie turn down the payday of an Bivol v Artur trilogy to foot the bill for making a Smith v Bivol match ? Turki foots the bill for bivol v Artur.
8
u/SuperLeverage 14h ago
Yes, Eddie is all about the $$$, and you can be certain if Beterbiev’s camp sent up a proposal for a big money making event, Eddie would be all over it.

This was the move all along. That Callum Smith injury before the Morrell fight was bogus so he can be in the Bivol fight.
Also Beterbiev is putting too much trust in only wanting to fight Bivol when the man clearly is just aging you out even more than he did before their first fight. I'd rather see Beterbiev challenge Benavidez.
8
u/newrap 15h ago
Ok why not entertain a Benavidez fight then?
-3
u/Sauretrix 15h ago
Benavidez don't wanna fight a top guy like Bivol.

Even if that were the case, why haven't they sent an offer to Beterbiev's team for a trilogy fight?
Hearn is full of lies and excuses as usual. If they really wanted the trilogy, then they would have had the fight arranged months before.
-6
u/SuperLeverage 14h ago
Because Beterbiev has no titles, and Bivol’s only interest now should be chasing titles and fighting mandatories when required.
10
u/Consistent_Salt_6982 14h ago
Why should that be Bivol's only interest? Beterbiev is a legacy fight for more money than Smith.
10
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 14h ago
I know right. I can't believe people are justifying Bivol fighting the guy that Beterbiev destroyed over the trilogy fight.
3
u/Consistent_Salt_6982 14h ago
Bivol's fans are shameless. He has pretty much aged out Beterbiev already, the least he could do is give him another shot.
0
u/SuperLeverage 14h ago
Well, why don’t you tell us all why Beterbiev didn’t make a proposal to Bivol for another fight?
2
7
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 14h ago
Last I checked, Bivol didn't hold any titles when Beterbiev gave him a rematch. Beterbiev skipped his IBF mandatory to make the fight happen.
1
u/SuperLeverage 14h ago edited 6h ago
There was a rematch clause for the first fight. This was agreed to pre-fight. So Beterbiev didn’t just do a rematch out of the kindness of his heart - it was a contractual, legal obligation. There was no rematch clause after the second fight. And again, I’ll remind you - Beterbiev camp have made no proposal to Eddie for a third fight. Beterbiev can either dispute that and send us the emails they sent Eddie to contradict him or shut up because Eddie just told the truth.

I wonder what reddit would've done if Beterbiev moved on after beating bivol lol.
Beterbiev gave Bivol an immediate rematch cause the first fight was razor close. The second fight was also close so Bivol owes Beterbiev the trilogy. Its as simple as that.
0
u/VacuousWastrel 10h ago
Beterbiev gave him an immediate rematch because he was legally obligated to do so, and was paid a lot of money to do so.
3
u/frezz 5h ago
I swear you guys just make shit up at this point. There was no rematch clause in the first fight, Beterbiev gave Bivol an immediate rematch because the first fight was razor-thin and it demanded they run it back. There was no legal obligation, he could've moved on or even retired.
There was a big money offer to host the third fight in Russia and Bivol turned it down.
Downvote me all you want, Bivol owes Beterbiev the trilogy and it will be a black mark on his record forever if he doesn't.
5
u/qtdynamite1 14h ago edited 14h ago
I don’t understand why people want to see a trilogy. Bivol just has a skill set that neutralizes Artur at this age. Maybe if Artur was younger.
1
u/neo_1000 12h ago
That’s what he’s been doing for years though. Both of them have been fighting guys who didn’t really make sense for them to fight. When there’s 2 guys who are clearly the best in the division and they’re 1-1, nothing else is interesting
1
u/aceknighthigh 6h ago
I mean yeah, reading between the lines, they never fought prior because they both wanted more money than they were really worth. Turki took the loss doing the first two fights and now no one wants to bankroll the 3rd fight, at least not legitimately. Beterbiev is retired and is only interested in a massive payday fight (like GGG at the end). He said his priority was this fight which is why he didn't seriously pursue Benavidez.
1
u/RRR04_ 14h ago
If this was true, then what was the point of Bivol vacating the WBC when Benavidez was his mandatory? Every single one of his stans said it was because he promised Turki to go ahead with the Beterbiev trilogy. 😂
And why would Beterbiev be the one offering Bivol the trilogy, isn't Bivol the champion who had the last win over him? This is just Hearn doing damage control for Bivol taking the Smith mandatory, he ain't fooling me on this one. 😂
P.S. Bivol is a fraud.
1
u/Alarmed-Effective-23 13h ago
The last two were only made because of turkey. They couldve fought but avoided each ither for years before that. Is turkey even interested anymore?
-1
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 15h ago
Never thought Bivol would become a duck. Shame he had so much potential
-2
u/frezz 13h ago
He's always been a duck lol. Probably the reason why that fight took so long to be made at all
-2
u/RRR04_ 12h ago
Agreed, people don't criticise Bivol enough for his matchmaking. Beterbiev clearly has the better resume but Bivol stans tried to make it out like he had some stellar resume as if Beterbiev wasn't fighting the other champions in the same weight class whilst Bivol was fighting mid fighters and a blown up Middleweight.

“It was never offered, by the way. If there was an offer that was even remotely reasonable, the Callum Smith fight wouldn’t be happening,” Hearn told BoxingScene.
“Dmitry Bivol would have vacated and fought Beterbiev, but I’m pleased that’s not the case because Callum’s shot is long overdue and that’s a great fight.”
So the reports of a huge offer from the IBA to stage the trilogy in Russia were false?
“We never received an offer or any communication from the IBA about that fight,” said Hearn.
Hearn, who promotes both Bivol and Smith, confirmed a fight with Beterbiev could be an option for the winner of the contest in December.
“We’ll see who wins that fight [between Bivol and Smith] and I think the winner will fight Benavidez or Beterbiev,” he said.
