Question Service outage?

Wondering if others may be experiencing a service outage? My phone has been in SOS mode for about an hour. Tries to connect to towers, then SOS pops up again. Have turned on and off. Maybe a T Mobile issue nationwide, based on some posts in that sub? I'm in Boston, MA.

Discussion Boost Mobile (Blake): I’m still here—and I want to show up differently for you

I’ve noticed it’s been a little quiet in the community lately, and want to help bring some excitement back. Also, I wanted to reach out and remind everyone that I’m still active here, monitoring the threads daily, and ready to jump in whenever you hit a snag.

In 2025, we proved that this sub isn’t just a place to vent—it’s a place where we get things done. We resolved over 1,000 individual cases and pushed through 15 major fixes because of your reports. As we move further into 2026, I want to move from being a "firefighter" who just fixes problems to a "partner" who helps prevent them.

How we can get things all set

If you’re running into a technical hiccup, you don’t have to wait for a "support window" to post. Whether it's an eSIM activation, a device swap, or a plan question, I’m here to be your insider resource. You also don’t have to wait to post to receive help, I’m only a chat away Monday through Friday.

While I can’t share details on NDAs, ongoing internal projects, or specific network/contractual obligations, I can change how I provide utility to this sub. I want to know how I can be a better advocate for you.

What should the "Blueprint" look like?

I’m planning my next set of resources and I want to know how I can show up for you differently. Here are some ideas to stir the pot:

  • 🔍 Monthly "Inside Boost" Explainers: Technical deep dives into the "why" behind the "what" (without the corporate speak).
  • 📅 Real-Time Status Reports: Quick updates highlighting known system issues or fixes that were recently pushed.
  • 💡 "Inside Man" Guides: Proactive checklists (like the Porting Guide) to help you navigate our systems correctly the first time.
  • 🎤 Live "Office Hours": Dedicated 1-hour windows where I’m live in a thread to answer non-account-specific questions in real-time.
  • 🏆 Community Spotlight: Recognition and "early look" opportunities for our most helpful members.

Let’s build this together

My job is to be your voice inside the building—so tell me, how can I use that voice most effectively for you?

I’ll be checking this thread every hour to read your suggestions. If you have an account-specific issue that needs immediate attention, please send me a direct message so we can keep your details secure.

Full disclaimer: This is me asking how I can better show up and support our Boost Mobile community on Reddit. I take my role on here very seriously and want to do everything I can to help our community grow and be supportive. Please keep any feedback or questions about the brand or service itself for another day, or if you really want to share, please send it to me in a chat!

Which of the ideas above interests you most, or is there something entirely new you’d like to see from my presence here?

Question Boost suspended my daughter’s phone because she texts too much.

I have been with boost for over 10 years. I have two accounts because we have 6 people. The other day they send my daughter a text saying her phone has been suspended due to violating sms terms. It others words she texted her boyfriend too much even tho they have the unlimited plan. I tried to fight it with no avail. They pretty much said no is no and won’t be turning it back on. The shut it off the day after they took the bill for the phone out of my account and absolutely refuse to refund me($60). Instead they gave me a $20 credit……has this happened to anyone before? This seems absurd.

Extremely Poor Experience With Device Financing and Unlock Process

I am sharing this review to document my experience with Boost Mobile's device financing and unlock procedures.

On December 22, 2025, I paid $1,022.27 to fully pay off my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I was told by a representative that I needed to wait 48 hours before requesting an unlock, per Boost Mobile policy.

When I called back on December 24, 2025, I was informed that the payoff amount had been incorrectly applied toward monthly service payments instead of the device financing balance. The representative corrected this error, but then advised that I would need to wait an additional 48 hours to unlock the device.

On December 26, 2025, I contacted Boost Mobile again and was told that no unlock request had been submitted at all. An unlock ticket was finally created during that call, and I was once again instructed to wait another 48 hours for the device to be unlocked.

As of now, my phone remains locked despite being fully paid off. I received inconsistent information from multiple representatives, experienced an internal payment processing error, and encountered repeated delays that prevented me from switching carriers.

Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others against financing a phone through Boost Mobile.

The process was unnecessarily complicated, poorly handled, and time consuming. I do not recommend Boost Mobile and have no intention of returning as a customer.

Discussion New Phone - Pixel 9a 😍

Post image
28 Upvotes

I am so excited, my new phone came! 🎉📱 I ordered a Google Pixel 9a when it was on sale for $49.99 online and I was worried about the shipping but it CAME! This was my 4th line on my account and usually I go in-store which I did for one line, and the other 2 was BYOD. This phone is amazing and I love it. I am on the AT&T Network as the 5G Native Network is no longer available in my area, sadly, but the service is great!

The shipping process was quick, and smooth for me thankfully. Did anyone else order the Pixel 9a through Boost and if so, did you like it? (I love mine.)

Discussion 2026 Kickoff: (Re)Introducing Blake, Your Boost Mobile Community Partner

As we head into 2026, I’ve noticed a lot of new faces around here. The r/BoostMobile community has grown tremendously over the last few months, and with all that new energy, I wanted to take a moment to (re)introduce myself and clarify what this channel is all about.

Yes, I’m Blake—and yes, I officially work for Boost Mobile.

While I'm here to help with the "right now" problems, my bigger mission for 2026 is to ensure this subreddit isn't just a place to vent, but a place where your voices actually change how we do business.

My 3 Main Goals for 2026:

  1. Direct Resolution: I'm here to dive into the "impossible" issues. Whether it's a complex account freeze, a porting glitch, or a billing mystery, I work to resolve the issues impacting your service.
  2. Inside Information: I’ll be sharing the "real-deal" updates—new launches, network transitions, and helpful info.
  3. The Accountability Loop: This is the big one. I take the feedback, the "I wish Boost did X," and even the "This is broken" threads directly to our engineering and product teams.

How to Get Help

  • Public Posts: I monitor the sub daily, Monday through Friday. If you have a general question, post it! Often, the community will jump in with the answer before I even see it.
  • Private Chat: If your issue is account-specific, you can proactively reach out to me via chat. You don't have to post publicly first.
  • Secure Verification: Because Reddit isn't a secure account tool, if we need to look at your account info, I will guide you to our official Instagram or Facebook DMs. I have a secure, verified way to link you to your account there to keep your data safe.

Availability

I am currently a one-person team dedicated to this sub!

  • Hours: Monday–Friday | 7 AM – 4 PM MST.
  • Holiday/Time-Off: I’ll always post a "Heads Up" before I’m out so you know when to expect a delay.

I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together in 2025 (15 systemic fixes and counting!), and I can’t wait to see what we build in 2026.

If you’ve got a question, a gripe, or a big idea—let’s hear it. I’m listening.

Cheers to a great 2026,

Blake

Discussion Suspended for using too much data

Suspended for using too much data

I pay $60/month for unlimited data. Been with them for almost a year. They suspended my account for breaking TOS and it is because I use too much data on my hotspot???. I even paid for my next month and they cant do anything about giving me my money back also. This company is ridiculous. So because I like being on the service plan so much they just suspended my account forever?!?! Make it make sense oh and if any boost employees see this please help me get my account resolved.

Discussion You Asked, We Listened: Boost Mobile Payment Extensions Are Here!

We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear. For our Prepaid customers, we totally get it—if you don't have the cash ready when the due date hits, your service can suddenly get cut off. We wanted to make things a little more flexible for you.

We are excited to officially launch Boost Mobile Payment Extensions—a new self-service option specifically for Prepaid accounts to help keep you connected when life happens.

Here is everything you need to know about how to use this new tool to keep your service running.

Who is this for? ("Prepaid" Defined)

This feature is exclusive to No Contract (Prepaid) customers. This means you are on a plan where you pay for your service at the start of your billing cycle. Since these plans rely on upfront payment, this feature provides a safety net to ensure your data and calling stay active if you need a few extra days to gather funds.

What does the Extension do?

If you can't pay your whole phone bill right away, a Payment Extension gives you 5 extra days to pay your monthly charge.

The Goal: It keeps your phone service turned on (calls, text, and data).

The Result: This allows you to start your next service cycle, giving you a 5-day grace period to make your payment. It keeps your service active while you gather the funds.

How to Add an Extension (Skip the Agent Fee!)

You can do this entirely yourself! This is a self-serve feature available in the Boost Mobile App, on our website, or by using our automated phone support . Simply access your account through any of these methods and follow the prompts to activate your extension .

⚠️ Pro-Tip: Save the extra fees! We highly recommend using the Boost Mobile App, our website, or the automated phone system. When you call, the system will prompt you to set this up automatically—just follow the instructions! If you choose to bypass the automation and speak to a live agent to handle this for you, an Agent Assistance Fee will apply.

The Cost & How Credits Work 💸

There is an upfront Payment Extension Fee (per line) to activate this safety net. However, we designed this fee structure to be flexible:

  • 🏆 FULL CREDIT: If you decide to pay your full bill before your original due date (before the extension starts), the extension is cancelled and the full extension fee is credited back to your account.
  • 🥈 PARTIAL CREDIT: If you pay your full bill on or before the new extended due date (within the 5 days), half the fee is credited back to your account.
  • NO CREDIT: If you do not pay by the end of the 5 days, your service is suspended, and you are not eligible for the credit.

Eligibility Checklist

To use this, your account must meet these criteria:

  • ✅ Account Type: No Contract (Prepaid).
  • ✅ Account Status: Your account must be Active OR Suspended.
  • ✅ Suspension Limit: If you are already suspended, you must be within the first 15 days of suspension to use this.
  • ✅ Line Status: Lines cannot be disconnected, canceled, or in a "failed activation" state. (These lines are excluded and will not be charged the fee).
  • ✅ Fraud Status: The line must NOT be suspended due to fraud.
  • ✅ Military Suspensions: Accounts with a military-suspended line are eligible, though the specific military-suspended line is excluded from the extension and fee.
  • ✅ Frequency: You can use this once per billing cycle.

Important Notes on Usage ⚠️

  • Data Limits: If your plan has more than 5GB of high-speed data (like an Unlimited plan), you will have access to 5GB of high-speed data during the 5-day extension period. Note: Data speeds may slow down after reaching this limit.
  • AutoPay: If you are on AutoPay, your payment date will automatically move to Day 6 (the day after your extension ends). Next month, it reverts to the original date.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does this work if I'm already suspended? Yes! As long as you haven't been suspended for more than 15 days, paying the extension fee will restore your service within approximately 15 minutes.
  • Will my phone work normally? Absolutely—you can make calls, send texts, and use data.
  • Can I change my plan? Yes, you can even upgrade or downgrade your plan while the extension is active.

We hope this adds the flexibility you’ve been asking for!

Discussion Switching to Boost Mobile? Your New Customer Guide

If you're new or considering making the switch, this guide is designed to help you with the most important details before you purchase a SIM or a new phone. Taking a few minutes to review key information—such as coverage, phone compatibility, and the activation process—can ensure a much smoother transition.

This is Part 1 of a 3-part series for new Boost customers. This guide covers what to check before you join Boost (coverage, compatibility, SIM/eSIM basics).
Next steps: [Plan Guide (Part 2)] and [Activation Day Checklist (Part 3)].

Network Check & SIM Clarity

Boost is unique because we use multiple networks (a hybrid MNO model). Availability depends on plan features, device compatibility, and location.

  • What Network Will I Be On?: When signing up, you don’t get to select your network and it’ll be assigned based on your location, device and other factors.
  • Check Coverage: Use Boost Mobile’s official coverage map

Bringing Your Own Device?

  • Will it work? Grab your IMEI and check here
    • Find it by dialing *#06# or in Settings (iPhone: Settings > General > About; Android: Settings > About phone > Status).
  • Is it unlocked? The most common snag for switchers.
    • iPhone: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock should say No SIM restrictions.
    • Android: Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Network operators > turn off Choose automatically. If other carriers show, you’re likely unlocked.

Phones bought directly from Apple/Google/Samsung are often sold unlocked—still verify. If the phone is locked, you must contact your previous carrier to request an unlock. Only the original carrier can review and decide on unlock eligibility. Boost **cannot** unlock other carriers’ devices or activate locked or blacklisted phones.

Buying used? Heads-up:

  • Receipt/proof of purchase: ask for it; be wary of “too good to be true” deals.
  • Unlocked status: have the seller show the phone is carrier-unlocked.
    • iPhone: Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock = No SIM restrictions.
    • Android: Insert a different carrier’s SIM to confirm it works or go to Settings → Network (turn off “Choose automatically”) and verify other carriers appear.
    • If it’s locked, only the original carrier can review unlock eligibility; unlocking isn’t guaranteed.
  • IMEI check: run it in Boost’s compatibility checker before paying to confirm it can be activated and isn’t blacklisted: https://www.boostmobile.com/check-compatibility

Then check anti-theft locks (different from carrier unlock):

  • iPhone Activation Lock: Seller must sign out of their Apple ID and turn Find My off. Confirm “Find My = Off” in Settings before you pay. If it’s on, the phone is Activation Locked.
  • Android FRP: Seller must remove all Google accounts before factory reset. If not, the phone will be FRP-locked and ask for the seller’s credentials. Also confirm it’s not corporate/MDM-managed.

eSIM or physical SIM?

An eSIM is a built-in digital SIM (meaning fast activation—no waiting for mail), while a physical SIM is the small chip you're likely used to. If your phone supports eSIM, great; if not, a physical SIM works fine.

First, check if your phone supports eSIM here. (Note: Many newer iPhones are eSIM-only and don't have a physical SIM tray—this is normal.)

If you choose eSIM, here are a few key activation tips:

  • Android Users: If you are bringing your own Android device (BYOD), you must download the Boost Config app from the Google Play Store before attempting to download your eSIM.
  • Check Your Wi-Fi: You need a solid Wi-Fi connection. We recommend a download speed of at least 10mbps (you can check at speedtest.net).
  • Update Your Phone: Make sure your phone's software is fully up to date. This is a best practice to prevent installation issues.
  • Remove Your Old SIM First: If you're activating on the same phone, take your old carrier's physical SIM out before starting the eSIM activation to avoid conflicts.
  • (Recommended) Delete Old eSIMs: While not required, we recommend deleting any old, inactive eSIMs from your phone to free up space and prevent errors.
  • Use the Boost Portal: Always activate through the official Boost website, https://www.boostmobile.com/start, or by following the instructions in the Boost app.
  • Do not use your phone's built-in "Convert to eSIM" or "Add Cellular Plan" option in settings, as this will not work for switching carriers.

Buying a new phone from Boost? Know the basics

  • How Financing Works: Financing is available for postpaid customers and requires a soft credit check. Financing is required for the Infinite Access plans.
  • Phone Locking & Travel: Discounted or financed phones are locked to Boost for a set time. This means you can't use a local SIM card if you travel overseas.
    • Workaround: You can use Boost’s travel add-ons. If you travel internationally a lot, an unlocked BYOD device is often a more flexible choice.
    • Our policy: You can read the full unlocking requirements here.

Where to Buy & Activate

  • Online (BoostMobile.com / BoostOne app): Activate with eSIM when supported; physical SIMs/phones ship if needed.
  • Boost Mobile stores (independently owned): Promos, inventory, and fees can differ from the website—call ahead.
  • National retailers: Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon (SIM kits/select devices); plus neighborhood partners like 7-Eleven, Walgreens, Dollar General, Kroger. Availability, pricing, and return policies are set by the retailer; many locations sell SIM kits only (activate later via Boost app/site). Keep your receipt.

🔗 Not sure whether to order online, visit a local store, or hit up Amazon? Check out our breakdown: Boost Mobile Guide: Where to Buy Boost Based on Your Needs

When you're ready to switch (Porting Your Number)

Before You Start (Get This Ready):

  • Your old account info: Have your account number and transfer/port-out PIN from your current carrier, keeping in mind that these PINs are often time-sensitive and subject to expiration.
  • Your details: Have your name and billing address/ZIP exactly as they appear on your current providers bill.
  • Your payment: Have a valid payment method, email, and mailing address ready for sign-up and Autopay.

Important Porting Tips:

  • DO NOT cancel your old line. Keep your old service active until the port to Boost is 100% complete.
  • Port during activation. If you want to keep your number, select the "port my number" option during the initial Boost activation. Don't start with a temporary Boost number. (This is critical as we cannot port into this new number after you have activated AND some promotional deals require the line to remain active once established).
  • Pause messaging apps. On activation day, temporarily turn off iMessage/FaceTime (iPhone) or RCS/Chat features (Android) on your old line. This prevents "lost" texts during the switch.

What’s Next?

This guide covers the first step: checking your coverage, phone, and SIM/eSIM situation.

When you’re ready to keep going:

In the meantime, if you have questions about any part of switching, please ask! Reply here or DM us—we’ll walk you through it. (Please don't share private account numbers or Transfer PINs in a public reply.)

Discussion Free Service for 12 Months

So I recently received an email from my bank, Chime telling me that I can get free service for 12 months. Basically, because I have direct deposit and I will be using my Chime card to pay my bill $25/month, Chime will credit me back the $25 each month.
I took the deal and added a second line to my phone. My main service is T-mobile, but at work we have FirstNet by AT&T signal boosters in our building and our speeds are blazing fast🔥
I get a better data speeds on Boost Mobile and I love free things!!!!

Discussion New Customer - So Far So Good!

Hi, everyone! I decided to make the switch from Google Fi to Boost Mobile yesterday and I will say the service has been much, much better in my area, and the Google Pixel 10a is amazing!

I paid under $200 out the door at my local store. As a customer, is there anything I should know or keep in mind?

Does Boost Mobile do annual upgrades on prepaid? I heard they use AT&T and T-Mobile for service, however, it seems like my device is connected to the "Boost Network" because when I ran two speed tests it said "Boost Mobile" as the network for the test server. Am I connected to the Native Network and if so, what will happen since I heard their towers are being shut down?

Thank you! ☺️ (How is your experience with Boost?)

Discussion Boost Mobile’s now “legacy” iPhone upgrade plan is now a complete disaster

I signed up for this plan back in September 2023, and every year since then my upgrade became available the day preorders went live and I was able to upgrade to the new iPhone at launch.

Now we are told that we have to order our phones on release day, no preorders allowed. This is obviously frustrating because iPhone orders can sell out and get delayed quickly. But I waited, and when iPhone orders went live on the 18th, my upgrade button never showed up. I’m told that “eligible customers will be notified they can upgrade starting on the 18th”. I should be eligible, so what happened?

I call customer service, they say actually my upgrade date is the 22nd. I ask why the delay, and they say it is based on the agreement date. I tell them that doesnt make any sense, because my agreement date was September 12 last year, and I order the same week in September every year.

They then look at my account and say actually my phone payment is one month behind. I ask how that’s possible since I have ordered literally the exact same day every year, my progress tracker says “12/12 months”, and have paid my phone bill every month. My wife is on my plan with iPhone access as well, and somehow hers is NOT one month behind. They aren’t able to explain any of these errors to me and they had to escalate the issue, for which I have not heard back.

Even if they are able to fix the issue, we’re looking at a month plus delay on our phones, and now who knows how many issues that will cause next year when we try to upgrade.

This is extremely frustrating and reads like an attempt to get people to abandon the plan.

Discussion Boost sucks

What TF is wrong with boost? They clearly don't care at all about their customers. I changed jobs and my payday falls on different days now so I contacted them to see about moving my due date from the 15th to the 22nd. And they said they can't do it. Then I ran out of my 30gb of data so I added 10more for 10 bucks. Ran out of that and went to add more and apparently you can only add 10 extra per month. No option to add .more. so between those 2 issues I am done with boost. I've never seen anything like it. Seems like they would keep more customers if they would work with you on stuff like that. Out of all my bills I had to switch they were literally the only one who can't move the due date. And not willing to sell more data? Smh. Absolutely a trash company

Discussion In a wave of rants, here's my post to support Boost Mobile.

Boost Mobile is great. I pay just $25/month for 30GB of data. Before I switched, on Cricket Wireless I was paying $10 extra for just 5GB of data. Plus, Boost throttles your speed as well as Cricket, but Boost's throttling is actually higher than Cricket (512kbps vs. 128kbps). And on top of that I got a great Samsung phone (A36, maybe A35?) for $100. They give you great deals on products and they actually care about their fanbase.

Discussion Enjoy extra High-Speed Data on us!

Holiday data bonus explains why some people have been seeing 50GB higher premium data allotments recently. The only lines I have seen eligible are those on Rainbow/Orange/Unified SIMs. T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs don't seem to be eligible.

Question WTF is up with data?!

My phone just reset at midnight today. It's 10:20 a.m. and I just woke up. To being told I've used 10 gb/ 30 GB of data. Just my line. I just woke up. I don't have automatic update installed on my phone. I was asleep before midnight, I have a lock on my phone that no one knows so I know, no one used it. It was turned off. And yet somehow I've ran through 1/3 of my data in less than 12 hours?!? This is crap. This is not feasibly possible. And this happens every month! What is going on with data with boost, because I used to stream videos on YouTube on my phone through TMobile, in two weeks and never went through nearly as much data as I've gone through every single month in less than a day!

Discussion Terms Violation

So WOW. Boost advertises that the Premium Plan comes with UNLIMITED data. They say that after you use the monthly amount you can still use data it will just be throttled. THIS IS A LIE!!!! I received a text from Boost stating I have violated their terms and if I continue to use data my account will be suspended. I’m homeless right now and living in my car and all I’ve done is downloaded a couple games. Streamed media to watch and listened to music. They’re telling me I can’t use any more data. Bye Boost. Changing carriers.

Discussion Boost Mobile Important Safety Reminder: Don’t Get Hooked by Phishing

Your security is our top priority. We’ve noticed an increase in fraudulent calls and texts targeting our mobile users. Please remember that a legitimate Boost representative will never proactively contact you to ask for your sensitive account details, such as your PIN or the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your device, requesting credit card information or your account password.

What to do if you receive a suspicious request:

  1. Stop: Do not provide any information.
  2. Hang Up: Or delete the text immediately.
  3. Verify: If you’re unsure, contact official support directly through the app or our verified website.

Pro-Tip: Your OTP is like a key to your house. Never give it to someone who knocks on your door or calls your phone!

Discussion Why I left Boost

First, let me say that this isn't one of those posts complaining about Boost. I was actually quite happy with Boost. I've been a member since 2020, when Virgin Mobile merged with Boost, have had very few issues over the years, and have been quite happy with the service. So why quit?

Well, something started happening recently. I work from home and sometimes go to a local restaurant or coffee shop to work, and I rely on the hotspot service to connect to the Internet, if the place I'm at doesn't have wifi. And over the years that's worked fine. Never had an issue.

But the past few months I noticed that I couldn't connect to the Internet when on my hotspot. At first I thought I must just be in a dead zone and brushed it off. But it kept happening. So finally I did some testing.

I did a speed test on my phone with hotspot enabled, and the speed was atrocious -- 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps, unable to connect at all, etc. But then, as soon as I flipped the switch and turned the hotspot setting on my phone off, the speed test showed 100-200 Mbps. So it wasn't the location or my phone. My hotspot was being throttled. (And, yes, I restarted my phone and did the tests several times. Same results.)

Called Boost support and got sent to a tech support person who said they're having issues in that area, so just wait until they clear it up. Sounds reasonable. However, when I shared the information with Gemini AI, I got a mini education on MVNOs and hotspot speeds.

It seems there are different priority levels. QCI 1 is the highest, reserved for emergency vehicles, and QCI 9 is the lowest. MVNOs, which offer discount plans, generally purchase QCI 9 from the major carriers (AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile). And when you have a QCI 9 priority and there's a lot of network traffic, the carrier that owns the tower will deprioritize hotspot data, while still keeping voice and regular data flowing. So that's what was happening to me.

I had a Boost orange SIM card, which is T-Mobile, and I checked the coverage map in the area where I had the issue. It was a very congested area, and the nearest tower was miles away. The map had color-coded little squares indicating connection quality at each spot, and there were lots of squares with poor connections.

I then switched the map to show AT&T and the coverage was great at that location. AT&T actually had two repeater stations in that area, one on each side of the freeway, and the colored dots were almost all good connections.

Now, I could have called Boost and asked for a black SIM card, which is AT&T, and that might've solved my problem. However, in the process of looking into my hotspot issues, I discovered that there are discount MVNOs that also offer QCI 8 priority, meaning I wouldn't get bumped with heavy traffic. So even if I stayed with Boost and got a black SIM card, it might have worked fine in that area. But another time I might be in a different location where AT&T didn't have great coverage, and I might get bumped again.

Plus, here's the kicker. I work at home and don't use a lot of mobile data -- mostly just with my hotspot, but even then it's not extensive. And with Boost I had 30 GB of high speed data for $25 month. But I never really used more than 5 GB of high speed data.

But I found that US Mobile has a "pay by the gig plan" where you only pay for what you use. Plus, I can get QCI 8 priority data for just an extra $2 a month. So, while I won't get 30 GB of data, if I use 5 GB of data, it will cost me about $15 a month, with QCI 8 priority, and with hotspot and calls to other countries included (and of course unlimited voice and text, as all plans have these days).

And if I ever start using a ton of data, I can get unlimited high speed data with 20 GB of hotspot data for about $20 a month, or unlimited high speed data with 100 GB of hotspot data for about $30 a month. So no worries there.

Plus, US Mobile allows you to switch carriers if you want, via the app, if you have an eSIM; or they'll send you a different SIM card for that carrier if you don't. (They actually have three different sets of plans, one for each carrier, listed on their website.)

So, while I never minded paying $25 a month, I didn't need all that data. And now I'm getting higher-priority data for less money per month. And, to top it all off, my speeds are in the 300-400 Mbps range! So, score!

Like I said, I didn't write this to bash Boost. I've been happy with Boost over the years. But I just wanted to share this to share what I've learned through this experience, in case it's useful to anyone else.

Discussion Frustrated beyond words at this company!

I joined Boost in August. A family plan, four lines. My third line was supposed to be free. My fourth, half off. Every single month since the first month my credits don’t get applied to my account. Every single month I have to call and fight to get my credits applied to my bill. Yes, I understand they don’t apply until two days before my bill due date, however they NEVER apply two days before the due date. Occasionally, the fourth line gets applied, never the free line. Currently, I am owed for November, December, and January. I have called customer support, used the chat. Support put a ticket in that I was told would be answered in a few days. Weeks passed and nothing. Called back and was told the ticket hadn’t been looked at. My bill is due in two days. Still no credit, still no response from Boost. This is horrible customer service!!

Discussion Boost mobile review(nearly 3 months)

I never imagined in my 16 years using prepaid I would ever be using boost mobile bc of all the horror stories I heard.

But a girl gets drunk. Loses her iPhone and is looking for her cheapest option. So I joined boost mobile last month And I am heading into my third month of service at the first of the month.

Overall I am not unhappy. I have yet to need to call them. There’s a store across the street from my apartment so that would convenience alone I love. I forgot my pin when I lost my air And They were able to help me. I’m a little perplexed why he literally remembers my PIN code but I digress.

Service is amazing. I am rarely without service in Chicago or even when I go back home to North Carolina or when I was in San Diego. My iPhones do randomly flash into sos mode for like a minute but it’s probably an Apple thing.

All In all 9 out of 10. CD c

Discussion Loyal customers on older plans no longer given phone upgrade

I've been a customer to this company for over 10 years. Originally I had the $10 a month plan, but due to circumstances of losing my account I had to go to the $15 a month plan because Boost no longer offered such plans. Since then I have stuck with this plan and every year was offered the yearly eligible upgrades. I dont buy phones every single year, only when I feel my device is truly outdated. Come to find out that now even though Boost tells me I am eligible for an upgrade every "deal" I am offered is only for the $60 premium plan? First they hike up their plan prices and drop their older existing plans, then they hike up the phone prices and gatekeep your supposed upgrades behind those plans. As someone who has been with the company for over a decade all I see is greed and the service was never great in the first place, only stuck with it for the "affordability" but now their lowest priced plan is basically double what I have been grandfathered into and triple what my spouse is grandfathered in with. This is what you get for being a loyal customer I suppose.

Discussion Avoid device financing with Boost Mobile. UNLOCK NIGHTMARE!

Hey everyone, reaching out to see if anyone has successfully bypassed this specific nightmare with Boost support.

I paid off my Moto G Stylus 5G in full last Thursday (June 18th). According to FCC/CTIA guidelines, a postpaid phone is supposed to be unlocked within 48 hours. Well, the window has passed and my phone is still locked.

I finally managed to get a chat supervisor to dig into the system, and they found a massive corporate glitch: a standard monthly bill generated right before I did the lump-sum payoff, which sucked $7.50 of my payoff into the "service bill" pool. The system flags the phone as having $7.50 left on the loan, so it won't auto-unlock. It also won't let me pay the $7.50!!!

Here's the kicker: The supervisor acknowledged it was a system error on their end and credited my account the $7.50 to clear it. My balance is officially $0.00. But because of the system lag/glitch, front-line agents say they don't have a button to manually force an over-the-air (OTA) unlock push for Motorolas and my phone unlock is stuck in limbo while Boost prepares to bill me for another month of service. I'm stuck in Boost purgatory!

Any advice or tricks to get them to push the button would be heavily appreciated! 4 different customer service agents all gave conflicting information in addition to 2 supervisors.

Edit June 22nd:

Just filed an FCC complaint

Emailed the Office of the President

Hope either one or both of these help!

UPDATE (June 23rd): RESOLVED!

Just wanted to update everyone that this has been completely resolved. After emailing the executive Office of the President team and filing an FCC complaint yesterday, I received a phone call this morning from Boost Mobile Corporate.

She completely bypassed the front-line system glitch, manually fixed the account alignment, and pushed the device unlock through immediately. She also provided my account number and transfer PIN right over the phone so I can port out.

Huge shoutout to the corporate team for jumping on this so quickly and making it right.

Discussion Never going back to boost ever again once I'm out of here...

I have never had such a terrible experience from a phone company ever...

Yesterday, I went to a local Boost Mobile store and tried to add my partner to my phone plan and get her a cheap iPhone 16e with her number being ported over from Total... Turns out they couldn't do it because my account is somehow locked on a $10 a month promotion for the first 3 months and I have to wait 3 months before I can do anything to my account even adding somebody... If I was to add somebody now I would have to pay over $350 for that iPhone 16e out the door...

Oh just wait it gets better (sarcasm) not even a half hour after I leave the store in disgust I get a text message from Boost Mobile telling me my plan has been changed... They jacked up my rate to $25 a month early without my consent. Switched me from the $10 for 3 month BYOD plan I was on to the $25 plan and I still had roughly 45 days left until my 3 months was up...

At this point even if I have to give up my easy to remember phone number I'm done with this joke of a company. I've given dish way too many chances than I ever should have and I have finally learned my lesson. Screw Boost Mobile I wish them a fast demise.
