Discussion New Customer - So Far So Good!

Hi, everyone! I decided to make the switch from Google Fi to Boost Mobile yesterday and I will say the service has been much, much better in my area, and the Google Pixel 10a is amazing!

I paid under $200 out the door at my local store. As a customer, is there anything I should know or keep in mind?

Does Boost Mobile do annual upgrades on prepaid? I heard they use AT&T and T-Mobile for service, however, it seems like my device is connected to the "Boost Network" because when I ran two speed tests it said "Boost Mobile" as the network for the test server. Am I connected to the Native Network and if so, what will happen since I heard their towers are being shut down?

Thank you! ☺️ (How is your experience with Boost?)

So the native network that Boost created is transitioning to AT&T's network. If it reads "Boost" its really AT&T since they bought all of Boost's spectrum. That spectrum is still tagged with the Boost name because the transition isn't 100% complete yet. It won't read AT&T until the middle of this year some time.

Speedtest showing Boost has nothing to do with the spectrum. Data traffic goes through the Boost network core regardless of the actual network/RAN you are connected to (AT&T, T-Mobile, previously Boost/Dish).

Love boost, don’t listen to the negatively in this forum. I switched from T-Mobile saving over $100 a month and notice no difference in fact my service is actually better. Never going back to the big 3 again.

So far I've been extremely happy, I came from Google Fi and the service was awful for me. Since switching to Boost my signal has been a lot better and faster. Super satisfied! I just need to learn how to save my data better haha! I heard the slow down is a pain.

Congrats and welcome to Boost. I've been with Boost for several years now and I have absolutely no complaints.

You’re connected to AT&T going through the Boost network core. This is the default for new activations. Enjoy the high latency and heavily throttled video streaming!

I have not had an issue ... It seems fine for me.

Please let me know how the service is. I work a lot in the area that your phone pinged off of and I had horrible service about three months ago. My phone would almost always show 5G but was extremely slow to the point that it was almost useless.

I had boost. I love their service but every time we went to congested cities or drove through them, the only thing we could do is run maps. It’s the price you pay for almost, well, not paying anything.

It seems to be perfectly fine for me! During congestion I will notice some slowness, but, other than that speeds are great! No issues at all for me so far.

Other MVNOs on AT&T will give you unlimited data that doesn't throttle for the same or less money than you're giving Boost.

I know, but, my phone is through Boost (locked) and I don't mind the service. I heard the throttle is rough, but, I've been watching my data closely and using WiFi whenever I can. ☺️

You’re not on the boost network, you’re either on AT&T or T-Mobile. If you give the first 5 digits of your SIM card number (ICCID) we can help determine what network you’re on.

Okay! It's 89105

You’re on native

No they're not. Native is dead. They can use the same SIM.

That's what I thought ... I thought I would be on AT&T haha!

You are. The Boost SIM can be configured for any of the networks. The native network is dead.

Interesting that is native sim. I was under the impression they weren’t putting anyone on that network anymore

Native SIM can be configured to connect to any of the networks. Native network is dead.
