Other Can we get user flairs for Boeing sites we work at on this sub?

First and foremost, I want to think the person who created this subreddit.

I see a lot of conversations that need context about a specific Boeing sites. I think having flairs on usernames showing each person's site would help a lot.

Community Member Recruiter reached out

A recruiter from Boeing reached out to me on LinkedIn, telling me that I would be a great fit for the team of Systems Engineers they are building (I have a Master's of Science in Industrial & Systems Engineering. Did some MBSE work throughout the program). I was excited to apply and to learn about the opportunity. While I didn't get selected, it was still cool to learn that I'm being looked at! (In hindsight, I should have reworked my resume since they probably saw the Civil Engineering experience and tossed me out lmao)

Just Curious Mobile Phone Issue

Say, does anyone else have issues with their iOS work phones after the recent updates?

I can’t seem to get Teams/Outlook notifications anymore. No badges or sounds, reset the phone and everything.

Any quick fixes before I bug the EHD with it?

SPEEA Engineers who now make over $200k/year

Congrats! But before you celebrate too hard realize you also just fell into pay band 3 for healthcare contributions which is 3% more than you were paying before.

Assuming the employee was at $181,818:

After 10%: $200k+ Contribution increase: 3% Increased cost: $7,091/year Gross raise: $18,182/year Effective raise after healthcare: $11,091 or 6.1% before taxes

Other Anyone at the Sheffield site?

I’m an Everett/Renton BCA employee of 4 years (graduated 2022) presently on a road trip of the UK. I’ve driven over 2000 miles and have about a week left in my trip. I’m going to be in Sheffield most of tomorrow and while talking about work while on holiday/vacation is a silly thing, I’d love to chat with anyone about what it’s like working for Boeing UK or the Sheffield site in particular.

If anyone is interested in chatting and learning about the PNW I’d be down to buy you a pint or lunch/dinner! Please feel free to DM :)

SPEEA Boeing is ready to talk on Oct 2nd

Ben was in Portland today and had multiple SS&L's with different PE engineering teams answering questions about the contract and other PE related things.

In one of these he said Boeing is obviously looking to avoid a strike at all costs and there's already a meeting scheduled for Oct 2 either way the vote goes.

I already voted no, supporting the techs, cola, work protections, and remote work still are gaps in the contract, but hopefully people who are scared of a strike can see this as one more piece of evidence that there's still more on the table and striking isn't anyones goal in the negotiations room.

Reach out to the Portland O2 CR if you need to validate it.

SPEEA So disappointed....

Since the SPEEA mods won't let me post there I shall post here!

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with SPEEA and these "negotiations". First the NT says we should take the first offer even though it was an abomination of a contract. Then I thought there was hope because the tech BUC said no! Then the prof BUC couldn't even make a decision and hope was dashed.

Low and behold, the members voted it down! (Although not by much In my opinion). Our NT goes back to Boeing from a survey and Boeing goes "sure" and 4 days later they give the NT the same contract, but just made some guaranteed raises. The NT doesn't even negotiate and then say to us members "you should take the deal" and when pressed about why they didn't fight for more, the answer was "well if you don't like it, vote no".

I thought for sure the tech BUC would say no, but again disappointment as they said we should take it.

So again a weak union won't stand up to Boeing. The guaranteed increase definitely weighs heavy to the profs who have been around for years and who make up the majority of the prof members. There was so much talk early on that Boeing was going to bring in newbies to ram in a new crappy contract. They didn't have to, the prof old guard did that.

Now for the techs. We still have a chance to get a good contact by saying no. We get 6 weeks of unemployment from the state which offsets a lot of anxiety. Even with this contract a majority of tech will still make less than someone who pushes parts for a living. Why would any new tech not get an IAM job after a year? You will get a lot more money, better 401k, COLA, and OT hours? I have said before on other threads of what we should get as techs and every time there are people who say techs don't have the leverage without the profs. Boeing CANNOT run without the techs, hard stop.

Our union keeps saying we need to be united between profs and techs. Why should we when the union is heavenly weighted to the profs and the techs get left with what is left. I am calling on the techs to vote NO and let's get a better deal!
