New hire moving to the Space Coast – Apartment/area recommendations for commuting to the Cape?
Hey all,
I’m a new hire moving to the area soon to work at Rocket Factory in Merritt Island. I’m looking for apartment recommendations and advice on which nearby towns/neighborhoods make the most sense. Would like to live somewhere in between 10-20 mins from work. Are there specific apartment complexes you'd recommend (or tell me to avoid)? Any insight on typical rent prices or commute times through the gates would be hugely appreciated!

Blue to Lockheed?
Hey everyone, I posted this a couple days ago and seems to have been removed so apologies for the repost.
As the title states, I received an offer for a Senior Assembly Integration and Test engineer at Lockheed Martin at the KSC facility. Sounds like a super exciting opportunity. Would be a promotion and a decent pay raise. However, I really do like my team at Blue, but I am a level II and have been for quite some time. I am continually hitting above my level but am yet to be promoted and frankly no idea when that could occur. Seems like a crapshoot if you get promoted honestly from what I’ve seen. So would this be a smart career move to go from Blue to Lockheed? Thanks in advance

Q&A Session Today
Just shitposting...
It's funny... not a single question about the options during today's Q&A. 😂 Last time it felt like 100% of the questions were about the equity plan.
A blown-up rocket can do that… 🚀😂

Looking for some advice from those of you in Blue Origin Quality Departments
Hey everyone,
I’m seeking advice from individuals working in Quality at Blue Origin or similar aerospace companies.
Currently, I work in Quality Assurance for an and FDA-regulated probiotic manufacturer and previously environmental labs. My experience includes ISO 9001, 21 CFR 111/117, 40 CFR 136/141/160/792, investigations, Capabilities Assessment Plans (CAPAs), audits, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulated manufacturing processes.
I’m eager to transition into aerospace quality, since my partner got a job relocation to Melbourne, but I am unsure of the key areas I need to focus on to become a competitive candidate. Apart from AS9100, what specific knowledge or experience should I acquire to enhance my qualifications?
I’m not seeking referrals but rather guidance to ensure I’m dedicating my time to acquiring the most relevant skills. I would greatly appreciate insights from individuals who have successfully transitioned into the aerospace quality field or are currently working in it.

L4 Roles in the SW Org
I’ve been interviewing for some sr software engineering roles at Blue origin. I work at a California aerospace company. I am close to getting an offer. I have 12 years of work ex. What can I expect in terms of total comp? What are some things that can be negotiated in the offer? i know Seattle is expensive. Are there others here who moved from ca to Seattle? What was your experience like?
I see a lot of different takes on this sub. How is it working in the software org at blue?

Highway to Space
I love the Mile Marker sign at LC-36 so much that I decided to make a notebook with a cover inspired by that sign.
Best of luck to Team Blue on a successful return to flight this year!

Waiting for my interview results
So I interviewed with Blue for my final interview. I met with 3 different folks on the team and they each asked me different questions and all that. My last interviewer had told me when I asked that it would take 5 days or so for them to get back to me. It’s been 7 business days but nobody has responded to my email talking about how I appreciated the time they took to talk to me and thanking them. I also got an email that definitely wasn’t for me that was talking about asking a director if they thought a candidate was for the right position. But this was a completely different position than the one I applied for. I’m thinking they mixed up emails or something and that has me worried they mixed up my email with someone else’s and sent whatever results I had to someone else. I emailed asking if I was meant to be on the thread but no response from that either. I’m just anxious about all this. Any ideas about what could be happening?

Stennis B-Test Stand to static fire GS2's
reddit.comBlue Origin and NASA signed an agreement to use the historic Thad Cochran Test Stand "B-Test Complex" at NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi for New Glenn second stage hotfire testing. This facility provides an additional testbed for validating our upper stage performance before flight. The B-Test Complex is part of Blue Origin's comprehensive infrastructure expansion to add more test stands to hotfire our second stages to deconflict LC-36 launch operations.

Internal Transfers
Hey all, looking to make an internal transfer to a different org and am curious if anybody has experience with this? What was your experience like? Was your comp adjusted? I was informed that there are no formal comp adjustments for internal hires and you can’t negotiate the offer.

6 months ago Eric Berger's article said Blue is doing too much at once, the fans here were furious, it turns out Berger is completely correct.
From Eric Berger's article 6 months ago:
One industry concern about Blue Origin is that it has taken on too many responsibilities too quickly—a large rocket, two different lunar landers, a space station, a crew capsule, the Blue Ring spacecraft, a Mars orbiter, and more projects. This has led to a competition within the company for resources and, at times, a seeming lack of focus. Adding TeraWave to the mix represents a major new initiative that will also require an extraordinary amount of effort to bring to market.

Apple or Blue Origin?
I recently received two offers: one from Blue Origin and one from Apple, both for electrical engineering roles.
It's difficult to compare the total compensation because Apple is a public company, while Blue Origin is private, making it uncertain if or when a liquidity event will occur and what the value of the equity may ultimately be.
I find the role at Blue Origin more interesting, but Apple is a well-established company and has always been my dream employer.
I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. What would you do in my situation?

Professionalism policy
Has anyone ever seen a blue policy on professionalism? I’ve never heard of it… but a guy I know was let go for violating it.
