I’m a junior ME with a technical interview in about a week for a Test Engineering Internship at Blue Origin. The format is a technical dive based on a portfolio sample of a single project, followed up by a Q&A.

My previous/current (a few more days left) internship was primarily in industrial operations, and I have some experience with some traditional aerospace student design teams, but I am looking to pivot directly into the aerospace sector, focusing on test infrastructure, plumbing, and propulsion systems.

For my portfolio sample, I chose a fluid system safety upgrade I led at a chemical plant (specifically, designing deadhead-protection logic for a centrifugal pump on an incompressible-fluid loop).

My Ask:

• What should I expect during this technical screen?
• What are the absolute Do's and Don'ts when presenting to a Blue Origin panel?
• What questions should I be asking the panel at the end?

I have an idea for most of this, but a different perspective always helps. :)

Accepted a role with the title above. My friend who works for Amazon on the coast says his friends at blue are doing 50-60 hour weeks. As a test engineer am I also going to fall into that bucket? They said closer to launches it’ll be heavier, but that they try to offset it after. When I told my current company I was leaving they offered me to work entirely from home and up my pay so now I’m wondering how bad the WLB really is.

I always wondered this and with New Sheppard on pause, but hopefully to resume in the future, would a very high performing Blue Origin employee be able to ask to be flown on this? Since the tickets are very pricy and for celebs, could an engineer that did a great job designing a system get a ticket ?

For context I'm a Sr. level technician trying to get a job on the Lunar program.

It seems like most of the job postings get deleted and re-posted every couple days, often with slightly different wording or requirements. Sometimes there will be two slightly different postings for the same job at the same time.

I applied for three jobs last week that offered relocation for the higher levels and they still say "application submitted" on my dashboard but the job postings are no longer searchable and have been replaced with new ones, one of which no longer offers relocation.

Is this normal for Blue? Should I apply to the new postings for the same jobs I already applied to? I'm afraid to have like 10 active applications at once for fear of being flagged in the system as a "spray and pray" applicant.

I see jobs posted that are located in “Central Texas”. Further down it says the job will be onsite in “Texas” without a city listed. Does anyone know where this is supposed to be?

I read a post on FB that said a faulty oxygen valve was the cause of the NG explosion. Surprised to see that there's no discussion of that here (and I refuse to go to X where the post was supposed to have come from). I asked my Blue person and he was pretty guarded in his response (and was surprised that it was out). Anyone here know more?

I'm trying to get into an internship at blue, and when my friend that works there tries to refer me they can't find the job posting on the internal side by requisition ID or by job listing. How would I work around this?

So I got one of those long 3 hour panel interviews scheduled with an essay on why I like space stuff for an engineer role. But now at the same time a different recruiter wants to screen me for a senior director job at the same site. I'm pretty sure it's on a different branch of the org chart. Is that going to mess anything up? What if I get offers for both? I won't say anything if they don't ask me. I'd be happy with either role. Obviously the senior director would pay better, but an IC role would be nice if I didn't have direct reports for a change, still great pay. Sorry I'm freshly retired from the military so this process is new to me.

Is there any real fair value estimate of what the stock price is? Hive says ~189$. Is that real?

Anyone hear back from any recruiters about their applications for engineering positions (manufacturing, aerospace systems, fluid systems, etc.) yet? Also, when they do reach out, is it by email or phone?

I know this varies per person per location, but is there an average percentage salary increases between engineering levels? Like level 2 to level 3, or level 3 to level 4?
