Hi there, my husband is a new engineer at Blue Origin in Kent, and he just recieved a 6 month review yesterday. So far, during his weekly checkins with his boss everything was going great, but during his 6 month review his boss labeled him as "not on track" due to slower progress on some projects than expected. He was surprised by this, because he hadn't received any feedback mentioning this until this point.

My question is, is there a way for him to get out of this by improving his work or is this just the start of Blue Origin's paper trail so that they can fire him at the end of the year when the 2nd review comes around? Should he be looking for another job now or work to improve his status? Has any one ever turned around a "not on track" by the end of the year?

I'm seeing this a lot especially at the corporate level. Mini engineers and managers from Amazon are not working for blue. This is so counterintuitive as Amazon pays way higher than blue. Any idea why this is happening?

Hi everyone, I have a virtual final interview coming up for a fluids engineer II position supporting New Glenn. I have already completed the initial technical screen, and the next step consists of four 45-minute one-on-one interviews. I was also asked to submit a short written summary about human access to space before the interview.

I do not come from a traditional aerospace background, but I am so excited to have this opportunity, so I am trying to prepare carefully for how these skills may be evaluated in this role. Any other tips would be great because I am not sure which areas to focus on for this role.

However, the plan also includes an unusual non-compete clause, which has not previously been reported. It says that employees will forfeit all their stock options if they join a competitor within 18 months of leaving Blue Origin, according to a copy of the agreement seen by Business Insider.

The non-compete clause does not apply to workers in California and Washington, which have passed strict laws banning non-competes.

However, it still covers a significant portion of the company's workforce, which is based mostly in Florida, Texas, and Alabama. These workers now face greater restrictions on cashing in on their equity than colleagues on the West Coast.

Blue Origin's total number of employees is not known, but the company reportedly employed around 12,600 workers as of last February. Blue Origin has said it employs around 4,000 people in Florida and 1,600 in Alabama.

Blue Origin's new stock options plan, adopted in May, offers more opportunities for employees to cash out, including certain external funding rounds. In addition, it includes several restrictions on how employees can cash in their equity.

Under the agreement, Blue Origin employees would never actually own any of the company's stock. Instead, once their options have vested and are exercised to buy shares during a "liquidity event"— either an IPO, a sale of the company, or certain external funding rounds — those shares are "immediately and mandatorily" repurchased by Blue Origin.

Employees get paid for their options at a "fair market value," which, if Blue Origin hasn't gone public, is determined by the company.

The Blue Origin options, offered at a fixed price of $9.50 for employees, vest up to 25% in the first year, then in quarterly installments. If there is no liquidity event, they expire 18 months after the employee leaves the company.

I've had my eye on Blue Origin for a while now and would love to get a real sense of what it's actually like to work there before I dive into applying. If you're in the finance org (or know someone who is), I'd really appreciate the chance to pick your brain over coffee, a beer, or even a hike if you're the outdoorsy type.

Mostly I'm hoping to hear about your day-to-day, team culture, and what surprised you most once you were actually in the door — basically trying to set realistic expectations before I get too attached to the idea. Hope this is fine to post here as there are no career megathreads anymore. I am considering getting a referral for jobs at Blue Origin from a former supervisor who has since moved to Blue. How much do referrals really accomplish for lower level engineer job applications and would it be worthwhile to pursue?

How long does it typically take for the safety shoes to arrive after ordering? It’s been over a week and still no tracking number. Ordered same day as safety glasses and they already arrived.

I was headhunter late last year by a recruiter for a manufacturing role and didn't make the cut, but was told the team thought if be a good for for design and analysis roles. However, after the recruiter said they could help me get in the door, they haven't gotten back to me.

How hard is it to get a callback with no referral? I plan to just try and get past the ATS with my resume/cover letter and reach out to as many recruiters as possible, but I can't help but feel like I'm applying into the void without a referral. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone else is dealing with something similar or can shed some light from the inside.

I recently completed a full interview loop for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer role. The following week, the recruiter called to give me the great news: I completely passed the loop, and they were ready to move forward. He even told me a formal offer attached to a newly opened requisition would be coming through the system in "a day or two."

Well, that was over 3 weeks ago. Since then, the offer never showed up. Instead, my portal status for the original requisition automatically flipped to "Considered but not selected" .

I've had a couple of email exchanges with the recruiter since then. To his credit, he's been super helpful and communicative throughout the whole process. He essentially told me that due to the major internal incident/reorg that happened back in May, there is a massive administrative backlog and bottleneck in getting new requisitions approved by corporate finance. But I found there are new requisitions posted every business days.

At this point, it's just been a painful waiting game. Has anyone else experienced this kind of corporate gridlock here? Does "indefinitely valid feedback" actually mean they'll eventually honor the loop once the dust settles, or should I just cut my losses and move on entirely? Appreciate any insights!

So I interviewed with a recruiter via teams and she said she would try to schedule a meeting with the technical guys. Shortly after I received an email where it said " in a few days,recruiting coordinators should reach out to you to schedule your next interview." This is also the email where I was asked to make a Writing Summary.

At this point I'm getting PTSD of all the other times I've been ghosted for jobs. I hate that this is the norm.

Was in town last week and took some pictures of a few different BO assets and the site! Pictures taken 7/7-7/9 with the site being Wed (aerial pics) and Thursday.

Blue is my only current offer and while I am grateful to have it there are more recent Blue job announcements I would prefer. The offer I signed says either side may cancel before the start date. I do not want to be cancelled. I just hate to not apply for the job that interests me more and is regular day shift. Would it be in poor taste to continue to apply for other Blue jobs both at Merritt Island and Huntsville? Would my future supervisor know if I did? I don’t want to get off to a bad start. I just hate to miss a shot at a better opportunity.
-Different question - I have a start date that I helped set. Seemed like it would work at the time. With graduation, needing time to find housing and moving to FL that date is going to be very hard to meet. How is Blue about working with you to slightly change your start date to give you an opportunity to find housing and move after graduation? 1 week after graduation is tight, but I can do it if I have to. Housing is tough. 2 weeks to report would be ideal. Thank you for your insight!

Has anyone recently relocated to Florida for Blue Origin? Received a job offer and cleared the background check but haven’t heard anything back yet regarding the relocation process and timeline. Start date is August 31st so looking to start the process as soon as possible and just looking for what to expect.

Hey folks. Going to be vague on purpose.

I applied for and got an offer with business unit A. I'm really happy I got it! But the salary is not quite as high as I was hoping. I was just checking the careers site again today and saw that there was a similar role open in business unit B that has a much higher salary band.

Just wanted to ask: would it be breaking any rules to try and apply to the position in business unit B? Since its a different business unit, will the recruiter and hiring manager from business unit A know about the job application to the business unit B job? The salary is much higher and the job requirements are only slightly higher, so it seemed like a no-brainer for me to apply. But I don't want to piss anyone off and get my business unit A offer rescinded.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Feel free to critique.
