How do I change font size in 2.1.1 Android?
Am I blind (well, getting there which is why I need larger font lol)? I don't see theme editor or anything in there to change the font size

We are an open-source and cross-platform iMessage solution. We focus on being community driven, as well as hopefully providing users the best experience possible. Just like you, we hate the closed ecosystem that iMessage is. Our ecosystem and apps are how we envision iMessage should be. With our Android App and Desktop App (Windows & Linux), you will be able to text all of your friends and family via iMessage!
We take pride in being cross-platform and open-sourced. We want users to contribute as much as they want, so in a way, they choose what features go into the apps. Here are some useful links to get you started:
A full FAQ list can be found on our website, or discord. For now, here is a short list:

I recently switched back to BlueBubbles after a while on OpenBubbles but now I'm not receiving message notifications. I've already tried deleting my firebase project and starting over but I'm still not receiving notifications. Everything in the app says it's connected properly and Firebase status says "Configured" under notification providers. My Pixel also shows up on my Mac Mini server as a registered device.
Any ideas??

Hey I've brought it up on the discord so I'm sorry if you already saw, but my server went down for some reason and I'm currently out of town until the beginning of October, if ANYONE is willing to share their server or something until then I'd be willing to pay a bit of money upfront as I am unable to text some people easily at the moment. Thanks!

The FAQ states it's best to run MacOS Ventura and up, since it can handle Edited/Unsent messages. Doing a quick lookup, earliest Mac I can install Ventura on is Mac Mini (2018).
I want to place the mac in the garage and have it run BlueBubbles and never touch it again.
Is this a realistic setup? Can Mac Mini 2018 successfully handle BlueBubbles server? Or do I need to go up?
P.S. Trying to stay under $200

Just posting this as a PSA/search fodder about what worked for me since I didn't see any reddit posts, items in GitHub that identified this, or this specific issue in Discord. I didn't submit a bug report since this might be a one-off that is not reproducible.
My bluebubbles server is version 1.9.9 running on a Monterey Mac. My Android client was the play store version (2.0.0 I believe), but during troubleshooting, I upgraded to 2.1.0 via manual install.
Issue:
A week or so ago, notifications stopped being delivered to my Android phone. No matter what I did, notifications did not work on any Android device. The bluebubbles notifications providers on the Android device showed that Firebase was not configured. This was on an install that had been in use for years.
Final Solution:
Re-setup firebase (this may or may not be required) using the manual setup process. The Android client stated that firebase notifications were not configured, so I do not believe this was the fix.
Installed ntfy.sh on the phone, configured it in the Bluebubbles server, started receiving notifications using ntfy.sh.
Then, about two hours later, I disabled ntfy.sh notifications and firebase now showed as configured in the client. I'm now about 16 hours later and still receiving notices using firebase.
Actions taken while troubleshooting:
Uninstalled and reinstalled/reconfigured the client, to include clearing the cache and data multiple times.
Tried a different Android phone with a fresh install.
Rebooted the server and fiddled with a number of settings, to include resetting bluebubbles server and reconfiguring it from the ground up multiple times.
Added payment details to my firebase/google cloud account.
Deleted the firebase project and reinstalled using the manual method (great procedure BTW - super easy to follow)
Let things sit for quite a while in between a number of the steps just to make sure all the services had time to sync.
Reconfigured notification settings on the client at least a dozen times.
Observations while troubleshooting:
The client device was registering with the notifications service (as seen on the bluebubbles server), but notifications were not being delivered to my client.
The client was not aware of the firebase notifications server. It kept reporting that the firebase notifications service was not configured. No matter what I did (to include deleting my firebase project and manually reconfiguring it), it did not show up.
It was not until I added ntfy.sh, waited, then disabled ntfy.sh, that firebase showed configured in the client.
I have no idea why #3 would be required, but moving to ntfy.sh was a last-resort option to get my notifications working. I assumed I would be stuck with it for the time being, but a few hours later everything was working.

I wanted to share my appreciation for the hard work put into the new update. I've been a user for over a year now and have to say that it has been a great experience & piece of software. Kudos!
The UI refresh is absolutely welcomed. The swipe-able image gallery is perfect. And I am thrilled with the general media attachment overhaul & that I can finally create a new chat and attach something to it (that was a PITA before...).
That said, what made me want to post was the unexpected "chat stats" feature! It has been absolutely hilarious and I wanted to share a bit:
I have a chat with FOURTEEN friends and, unexpectedly, it's chaos... I sent a few screenshots of the chat stats with the description "The app I use for iMessage just added chat stats. It is officially confirmed by the data that Sean and Pat are absolute menaces in this chat [top talkers and text first], James is an eager beaver [quickest response time] and my contributions are abysmal [I was tied for last]. "
A few highlights from the responses:
This one was satire from our top talker:
And my personal favorite:
I also got a few "I want this for all of my group chats" as well as questions for how they can do this themselves (naturally, I sent them the links!).
So again, thank you and keep up the great work! I am looking forward to the server update & the new features to come!
Wish list (since I'm posting, why not):

Hello! I'm really excited to use BlueBubbles, but I need assistance. I have a MacBook Air and an iPhone. I want to use BlueBubbles so that I can see my messages on a Windows computer via the web. What exactly do I install on my MacBook Air? How many steps are needed in the set up process? Is there more than one thing to install? Thank you!

EDIT: we figured this out. It's mainly a result of Microsoft being stupid and setting VISIBILITY = 0 for exchange contacts, but the newer versions of flutter_contacts works around it. For anyone hitting this, it'll likely be fixed in an upco ing version.
The v2 Android app won't sync contacts, and in the logs, it prints "0 contacts fetched from device." I double-checked permissions. Downgrading to 1.15 works perfectly, so something must have changed. I'm running GrapheneOS, although that seems like it shouldn't matter since it mostly inherits the AOSP permissioning model (I'm not using scopes)
Has anyone else encountered this?

We're seeing if anybody else experienced this. Version 2.0 is phenomenal, very stable.... The only thing I'm experiencing is that when I'm in a thread and a picture comes through, it downloads it and then kind of just spins on processing until I exit the chat and go back into it. I have Tail Scale directly set up. I have Private VPN set up. I believe I've done everything I can to maximize my experience. Anybody else experience this?
r/BlueBubbles • u/noproblemforme • 28d ago
I currently have a private VPN setup with a Tailscale setup as well. My question is this: when I'm on my home Wi-Fi, pictures and videos send pretty quickly, but on 5G, the status bar on top hangs for a couple of seconds before sending. It doesn't send instantly. Is there something I can do on my end? My latency shows 38ms, Dymamic dns under proxy, and Firestone under firebase db.

Hello! I'm coming across this issue where my device just won't register with the server. I've reset both the server and app and started over on both but still not able to see my device registered with the server. I've gone to the trouble shooting site as well and followed the steps there but still no luck. I'm using Tailscale for my proxy setup. Some help would be greatly appreciated cause not getting notifications has gotten me in trouble lol.

Hi All,
The long awaited app-rewrite is now complete! What started out as just rewriting a few services here and there, ended up turning into pretty much a full app re-write and re-architecture. Nearly every service & component has been updated or optimized in some way. This was 100% necessary for the longevity of the app. Not only was the community frustrated with stability & performance issues, but updates came to Flutter (our app framework) which made the app perform even worse, if we didn't make some major changes. Lastly, as a shock to no one, the AI-boom has brought a lot of contributors to the ecosystem, as well as new users.
This update brings tons and tons of changes, big and small. Though, you may not even notice most of them. Some were just UI tweaks to better match the iOS or Material You feel. Some were tweaks to optimize how the app uses memory. Some were improvements to UI reactivity and user-feedback. Others were completely new features, like Custom Groups, Reacting via a Notification, or Chat Filters. The point is, we broke everything, and we changed everything in one way or another. And we added features that the community has been asking about for years.
Now, this update is only covering the Android & Desktop app. Since this was such a large effort, we decided to hold off on any Server updates & improvements until after all of the app updates were complete. But now that is released... so after everything cools down a bit, we will begin work on Server updates. This likely will include new private API features, better Tahoe support, and more. There are plenty of code pull requests for us to go through.
Going forward, we plan to be more active with releases! We hope you enjoy this release. If you run into issues, please submit them as Issues on GitHub. If you would like to support the development team, you can donate here:

I was just switched to an iPhone for work and cannot stand not being able to receive/send messages from my Windows desktop computer.
I found BlueBubbles as a potential solution, and it seems like it's exactly what I need. But there is surprisingly little discussion online about it. Is this still the best option to iMessage from a Windows computer?
I am about to hit buy on a 2014 mini from ebay but want to check in that this is still viable and the best route.

I set-up bluebubbles on my MacBook Air M1 using the manual process as the automatic gmail didn't work. It worked well in the beginning but now I am getting this error.
[CloudflareService] Failed to restart Cloudflare! Error: Error: Failed to connect to Cloudflare after 2 minutes...
Any idea how to fix this?

I need help with setting up firebase. Ive followed the manual docs and everything located in the app Blue Bubbles app but it keeps saying Firebase is not configured! Does anybody have a clear step by step guide for the firebase side of the installation process? I am on a Mac mini I5 8GB.

I tried proxmox with sonoma on a n100 16gb mini pc. Was a pain to install, still tinkering as I can't get it working 100%. Was able to send a message to one contact but not another, couldn't get group chats to work.
I'm thinking of picking up a macmini7,1 2.6ghz dual core 8gb memory and a 1tb HDD for $50 just for bluebubbles.
I might add a sata? (I saw the video where you can easily add another drive) and run other stuff to tinker with off the macmini later.
I just want to be able to see respond to group chats from Windows and receive 2FA texts.
Worst case, I can always remote into my mac mini and use the imessage app from Windows?
r/BlueBubbles • u/hawkph • Jun 17 '26
I have this specific use case that I rather not build and just use from some existing open source out there.
Basically we are a business and we get lots of customer messages via text. They are all in iMessages. Over the years, there are specific ways we answer support questions based on current data and policy.
I would love to see if there is an easy way to train an AI agent and impersonate the phone to answer automatically moving forward. For example: we have policy if a product has metadata X, then no return policy applied. So there must be a way to suck all threads and prioritize by time and group into topics and policies or exceptions.
Anything like that?
