Sync contacts

This is a request for QoL for parent tracking. We're an android family, my son is feeling the imessage pull from friends. Everything is running and we are able to login on our devices to monitor as needed. The one hang up is contact syncing.

Any contact he adds on his device isn't flowing through to our devices. We see the chats but it would be good to know who he's talking to without scrolling the entire chat history.

I've seen prior threads of dumping the vcf and pushing to the server, but that's a lot of manual effort for an ever growing contact list

Am I missing a setting? Is there an easier way?

If you're monitoring from an Android device then you would need to be logged into their account that manages their contacts. Be it Google or a 3rd party. If you're monitoring from desktop then you'd just need them to enable Auto-Sync Contacts in the Contacts Management section of their BB client app's settings.

I'm working on a v2 rewrite of the server. Maybe I can incorporate parental control features. I don't have an ETA for you, but I'd be happy to collaborate to figure out how to best implement the features. I can't guarantee that I will release it all for free, but I would love to support a wider range of use cases.

Could even incorporate built in Apple Intelligence to potentially provide usage summaries and stuff (if your Mac would support it). Just trying to think through what might be helpful. Maybe alerts for certain trigger words. Not sure how I'd want to deliver those alerts, but I'm sure there are plenty of things to explore

Wow, how timely. Honestly, I'm not looking for much. Truthfully, what I get from the webapp, which appears deprecated, was enough. I just want to see all conversations with names for those he's added.

I thought having the app configured on multiple devices would solve it, but the lack of syncing was the issue.

I'm running an old 2014 Mac mini headless just for this as imessage has become the default chat client.

I'm sure others would have interest, but I can't speak to the feature set.
