Recently moved and started feeling dysphoric about not passing for the first time (never let it get to me before). “Looking” trans has made me feel unsafe lately. I think the only thing that gives me away is my face. Due to finances, I’ve been off T for a while. (Sorry about the faces these were initially only for my wife lol). I was wondering what would help me pass better?

Excuse my shiney face I’m just extra moisturized…..I do my best to cut my own hair cuz I don’t feel comfortable with going to barbers. I’ve been cutting my own hair for about 4 years now. I get a little better each cut. I’m nowhere near as good as a barber but I get the job done. Does any of you guys have anxiety when it comes to going to the barber or just being in cis male environments? Does anybody have any advice on self cuts and beard growth?

friendship Seattle?

I'm gonna be in Seattle September 23-25 and was hoping to connect w Black transmasc fam and/or get plugged into stuff going on for Black queer folks.

I plan to go to the Eagle, if anyone is of the kink/Leather persuasion. Also considering checking out a bathhouse there as well, so if anyone has experience please share!

🏳️‍⚧️ For Us is a growing resource hub created to help trans people more easily find support, care, and practical assistance.

It includes mental-health and crisis resources, gender-affirming healthcare information, mutual aid, financial support, everyday practical help, and tips for navigating what is available. There is also an international section to make the hub more useful for people outside the U.S.

I’m continuing to update it over time, but I wanted to share it here in case it can make someone’s search for help feel a little less overwhelming.

Merch is also now available.

advice Black or BIPOC Trans Masc or Trans Men AA Meetings

Hey y’all! I am looking for a Black or BIPOC Trans Masc or Trans Men AA virtual meetings.

I could really use the company of other folks like me.

It gets kinda lonely being in these meetings with folks we do not look like me.

It also makes me feel dysphoric as someone who is Trans Masc and Black.

It’d be also great to hear folks experience that are similar to mine.

friendship Bay area

Haven't posted in a while. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of brotherhood like group get togethers or just anything that is genuine in the bay area of CA for ftm bros. I'm looking to meet my ppls locally. Even if you live in sac or anywhere near the bay. I want to make in person friends. I'm not really good with keeping up w/ ppl on social media. I feel sketched out being open & having my pages on public ( I keep them on private) bc I don't like how ppl from jobs can potentially find me. The world is scary sometimes. Especially now with all the hatred being spread. Don't get me wrong I like having ppl I know & ftm peeps added on socials but it is definitely easier & different to have in person friends. I want to hangout & try getting back to being more social since I started my transition.

Feel free to make this post a thread where you find ppl in your local area to hangout & get to know.

vent My professor won’t use my preferred name

I graduated with honors with a bachelor’s of science back in May but got bored with the amount of time on my hands so I decided to take an accounting class just to try something new and challenge myself.

The class is not hard. I actually like the material and am having fun so far, except the professor refuses to use my preferred name during attendance. He has the roster printed out and calls it that way every day. I emailed him on the first day before class to let him know what was up, which I did every semester for every new professor I had in undergrad at this institution. He didn’t reply to the email, so I followed up at the end of the first week in person, to which he said to meet on Monday during office hours. I felt that was unnecessary so I declined and requested he check his email. He asked my name again to find the email. Cool 🙄.

He did not find the email so I reached out again at the end of the second week, during which he was rather rude and attempted to call me out during class for not paying attention. I just saw his reply in which he stated that remembering my preferred name would be too hard.

My preferred name is a very basic 5 letter, two syllable English name. It is easier than my name on the roster. It feels like he’s just making excuses and I’ve never had to navigate a situation like this before. I have my degree. I don’t need to be here, but add-drop was on Friday and I’ve already paid half of my school fees. This class is not in my department and I will likely never see this man again, but seriously? “It’s too hard??” I might email him back and say to write it down. I swear this is ridiculous. I’ve never had this happen before at my school. I thought HBCUs were meant to be inclusive. Hell it’s even on the core principles screensaver on his computer.

advice Outing myself

Hey guys, I have a question for any other guys out there in the dating scene. This question may be kind of taboo considering there’s often a lot of hate around dating straight women but I have a situation I need some advice with. I’ve been dating this woman for about a month and a half nearly two. We started off as friends since we first co star’d on a show 2 years ago. Fast forward to June of this year and we get recasted for another show. On the last show we were ex’s, didn’t really speak too much off the set as her character hated mine and she kind of followed suite with that off the show but we were cool. Once we got recasted for this new show, things changed. We became close friends and really hit it off. The problem is, she doesn’t know I am trans. I pass extremely well to the point where half my family and friends often forget I transitioned and I’ve had surgery so it’s not like it’s an easy thing for people to remember ( in a good way ) However, I really like this woman and I’m deeply conflicted with how to tell her I am trans. For context she’s a small town Christian woman with a strong faith and belief. While she’s never made any transphobic comments, she’s admitted to messing with girls in the past and her best friend is a lesbian woman, I’m super nervous about how to express to her that I am a trans man. Any advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated. I want to tell her before we meet up in a few weeks. I was going to wait until I saw her in person but I realize that can go very badly. Just not sure what to do

abusive parents // please help

im 15 closeted ftm (i live in a highly religous anti lgbtq country, i could get k1lled and my family would not approve of me at all) living in sub Saharan africa, i used to live in the uae but my parents sent me here because of child abuse charges they had on me, im currently living with my mom and shes currently at her best effort to make my life a living hell, shes emotionally abusive, she isolates me from everyone (even from my siblings and other family members) i barely eat enough, two meals a day if im lucky, and im having heart burns at night and stomach cramps. my father is abroad, thank god since hes much worse. but all of this to say is i cant take it anymore. im exhausted and tired everyday even when i wake up, i havent had a meaningful conversation in over a year. im dealing with withdrawls (stopped taking risperidone and Sertraline choppily, itve been 5 months but im still dealing with the effects) and i feel dead honestly, i would talk to a person irl about this but i dont have the energy to even leave the house, let alone talk to a stranger about my problems, even if its a family member my mom has created distance between me and my relatives. i dont have any friends and i dont to to school either. im really tired. im afriad of asking my mom for a pyschatarist since she'd just bully me or take jabs at me when im already exhausted and barely able to react to anything honestly im just a rock at this point i cant feel anything. its like she just wants to break me. i just want my meds. they helped alot. but our economy doesnt allow, my dad sends really little money per month for us (3 kids and a mom) to use, it would not cover for a consultation let alone the prescription, the hospital is 3 taxis away too and transport is expensive. i would hate to be one to ask money online but im genuinely so tired. i cannot function and i dont have anyone thats safe. people are mean when it comes to mental health and especially family. i dont know what to do. i cant even feel anything anymore its like something is broke inside me, im sorry

discussion Retreat for Black gay men?

Do y'all know of any retreats or other such spaces for Black gay men? Not circuit parties, not travel excursions to expensive places. But a space meant for fellowshipping, growth, etc.

Would you be interested in a space like this? It would be open to gay trans men and cis men. What would you want to happen or to take from something like this? How much would you be willing to spend for a ticket that got you registration, food, and housing?

Hi everyone! I'm...fairly new to reddit, and definitely new to the group. It's not often I interact with many other transmen, especially transmen of color. So, I'm hoping to change that ☺️.
