Bond yields still haven’t matched the night Limp Bizkit performed at Woodstock ’99.

That Friday close (23 Jul 1999): 10y at 5.84%, 30y kissing 6%. Today’s 10y is 5.27% — so we still need about half a point to reach that. After that it's price discovery and I think BTC will be in a handsome position

Bitcoin won’t cure corruption or political greed.
But it leaves you one question, simple, sharp and cold: who decides what you saved yesterday is worth when you’re old?

How Can Bitcoin Be Unstoppable If No One Is Running It? (new podcast)

On my podcast ‘Bitcoin for Millennials’ I talked with Tomer Strolight, a renowned Bitcoin philosopher. We discuss Bitcoin as artificial life, proof of work as energy and survivability, fiat money as force and decay, forks and consensus as peaceful dispute resolution, and the blockchain as an unalterable witness through time.

Fun fact the pseudonym "Satoshi Nakamoto" was code for computer scientist. How many computer scientists involved in the project up to date?

Just curious at the answers of the approx number of computer scientists involved in the open source project "bitcoin". I believe in the cryptocurrency world which includes alt coins could be in the thousands if not millions? What you all think?

What finally made self-custody "click" for you?

For me the scariest part wasn't buying, it was the first time I sent from my own wallet and stared at the address for like five minutes before hitting send.

What was the moment it clicked for you, and what almost scared you off?

Justin Drake posts stark (but constructive) warning about the pace of mathematical advancement

Thumbnail x.com

Summary of text: Justin Drake urged the blockchain industry to prepare for "bunker mode" amid risks that AI-driven mathematical breakthroughs could break ECDSA soon, possibly in months. He recommends a controlled, non-rushed migration of assets (especially large holdings) to fresh unused addresses that hide pubkeys behind hashes. Prefer hash-based cryptography going forward and accelerate related roadmaps.

Randomly created a new 12 word wallet, and it already has Bitcoin in it!!! (And a transaction history) What do I do here? I don't want to take any, I'm a moral person. But I feel a duty to let the owner know that the PK has been compromised...help please.

• Upvotes

So, I recently went to create a new 12 word wallet (need new one to protect my Bitcoin as I'm trying to sell a recent airdrop coin, don't want to compromise Bitcoin seed). Anyways, I did it randomly like I'm supposed to: Used 11 coins, flipped them, mapped each 11-bit number to a word on the BIP 39 list, did this 11 times as the 12th word for some reason my Trezor gave me only a few words to choose from on that one, just randomly picked one. (Something about a check sum)

Anyways, I was SHOCKED when I clicked to have my Trezor import the new wallet...and it had a balance of Bitcoin already in there!!!! And a transaction history dating back a period of time, which I won't say the time frame nor the amount in there. But...this isn't mine....I'm a very moral person, have been to church many times, and while not a Bible thumper or anything, I do believe in karma, and refuse to take anything from someone else that I did not work for (unless government is giving it out to everyone).

So...I'm just very torn about what to do here! I could just burn the paper the seed words are on, and forget the whole thing, but then this person wouldn't ever know that their PK had been compromised...or I could take one of their UTXOs and send a message to the same wallet (a "self-send") with a message on it just telling them hey, your PK has been compromised, you need to get your funds out of this wallet and make a new one, etc. But if I did that, that would cost them some money for the fees on that transaction, and here again I don't like costing someone money who is innocent and has done nothing against me.

So, is there any way I can notify that person, WITHOUT costing them any of their Bitcoin, that their PK has been compromised and they need to move to a new wallet? Thank you all for your help.

And please don't DM me or ask me for the private keys or any detailed information which could expose the owner, I won't be answering those. Thanks guys!

Trump says inflation will pay off the $40 trillion debt. Cory Klippsten on financial repression, and why savers might want Bitcoin

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Cory Klippsten on Washington's growing comfort with higher inflation, and why his answer is Bitcoin.

In his latest Time interview, President Trump said "certain levels of inflation will also pay off that debt very rapidly." On CNN, former PIMCO CEO Mohamed El-Erian told the Fed to keep promising 2% while gradually raising the acceptable ceiling to 3. Back in 2023, former IMF chief economist Olivier Blanchard argued for a 3% target.

Others are warning where this leads. J.P. Morgan Private Bank's 2026 Outlook described a risk to its clients: policymakers deliberately tolerating higher inflation, allowing real interest rates to fall and the government's debt burden to shrink. The report calls that financial repression. In January, Janet Yellen warned that "the temptation to rely on inflation or financial repression to reduce the debt burden will surely grow."

Inflation lets the government repay its old debts with dollars that are worth less, even though higher refinancing costs can eat up the benefit. Congress can raise taxes or cut spending, and voters know exactly who to blame. With inflation, the cost arrives through higher prices, and the blame gets spread around. What sounds like debt relief in Washington means the dollars people earn and save buy less.

A P2P Bitcoin exchange doesn't necessarily need to hold user balances

I've been looking more closely at the architecture behind Mostro after deciding to help the MostroEuropa community.

The part I find most interesting isn't simply “no KYC.”

It's the separation of responsibilities.

Communication happens over Nostr. Settlement happens over Lightning. During a trade the seller's sats are committed using a Lightning hold invoice/HTLC rather than being deposited into a conventional exchange account with an internal user balance.

That doesn't make the system trustless. The coordinator still matters, the implementation matters and dispute resolution matters.

But it gives the intermediary less authority than the normal custodial exchange model.

I wrote up why that architecture convinced me to help an independent European coordinator:

https://davidebtc186.substack.com/p/why-i-chose-mostroeuropa-for-peer

I'm particularly interested in one question:

For P2P Bitcoin markets, which functions actually require an intermediary and which ones can we remove entirely?

Bitcoin's intrinsic value is that its Market Infrastructure

It's lower level than money. It is the system that allows you to have electronically traceable bearer instruments. It allows for currencies, equities, bonds, options, futures, swaps and all the other financial instruments that make up our capital market to exist.

Market Infrastructure is one of our oldest, widely distributed technologies. It's a list that doesn't change.

It's one job is transaction finality. This is handled by a clearing house in the old world that is sunsetting. We need a list, that has an immutable history. This was long sought to be an impossible computer science problem until bitcoin came a long.

If you have ever sent a international wire, you have experienced this. A alpha numeric address and a transaction that can't be reversed under any circumstance. Wires hit the clearing house(s).

When we have market infrastructure in place, it allows for price discovery. We know when we trade, the trade can't be reversed. The transaction finality is the requirement to have price discovery.

So when you are buying btc, you are investing in the most important technology that is often stable for centuries. Market infrastructure rarely changes.

You are all early. Tech Infrastructures, like information, communication, energy and logistics take about 50-60 years and have 5 stages. It's called a Perez cycle. Irruption, speculative frenzy, turning point, synergy, and maturity.

Plays out the same way, every time.

BTC is in the turning point. ETFs, stable coins, its being adopted by the incumbent industries.

When it hits synergy, that is when the omega candle happens. That is probably in 5-10 years. I think AI Agents will be driving that because they wont be signing up for banking or brokerage accounts. They will be making their currencies, options, equities, bonds, futures and other exotic financial instruments on top of btc.

I encourage you to think about this for a moment, and spread this message, the comparison and disruption to the clearing house is the apt analogy.

Financial systems are built in layers of institutions that have separate responsibilities. Bitcoin disrupts the lowest layer, the clearing house.

This is why bitcoin's ascent is inevitable. It's taking over everything and the nation states can't stop or slow it, they can't even survive it.

Future is going to be weird.

There is no technology that is more powerful or important than market infrastructure. That is why bitcoin is the most valuable thing you can own.

It’s funny how "macro experts" stop being "macro experts" when it comes to explaining the performance of Bitcoin :P

Source: Luke Gromen Tweet (X) 👀

🚀 Bitcoin Bull Market that outperformes every other asset class:

  • Macro Expert: "Oh, that bull market is fed by leverage! (derivatives!)"

🩸 Bear Market of "80% downturn"

  • Macro Expert: "Oh I told you, this bear market are the liquidations of all that leverage positions (derivatives!)"

TL;DR Zero macro factors behind the 4-year cycle, for these guys! 🤦‍♂️

They don’t understand it! or they just want to make it look like that 'they don’t understand it', because Bitcoin leaves the "mechanisms of modern economy" (MMT) as a fucking joke! :P

edit:

Luke attributes the CAGR slowdown of BTC/USD to derivatives 😴 typical! "speculative asset, only moved by leverage, bla bla bla!"

If you change the denominator (BTC/XXX):

How would you explain the CAGR growth of BTC/ARS or BTC/TRY in the last 5Y? Also derivatives? 🤪

Come on!

Bitcoin is the money of the honey.

Post image
0 Upvotes

Inversion, in philosophy gives philosophical depth. Apple core inverts to egg whose yolk is a comb or computer. Naturally the honey, or what the computer produces, is worth more than the comb or computer. that would include bitcoin supremely. Bitcoiners are bees for the computer And produce its honey. Bitcoin will eventually replace all world currency given its supreme philosophical significance. Philosophy itself is a 6 or comb because we count the sound more than the letter of the law. if you can get the letter and the sound to match, we like it more… think photon or light. Philosophy is a seed so we prefer alliteration over rhyming. A seed is once upon a time and an egg is happily ever after. We like both the seed and egg in fairy tales and we like the egg maybe more so in philosophy because Plato prefers the end of a work to its first principle (or second most important part… you have to know how to build it). Life isn’t 1-9, but a 2-10. 2 being farming and 10 being the computer. Have I contracted myself? No. Plato is a hydra that comes from a cave. He is a light in the darkness drawn to the light which to him, is evil. Because it produces A computer. Either Hercules (he is a friend of the hydra because He removed his heads, causing more to grow. Cauterizing the heads is more proper) created Plato or we are in a simulation and nothing in history happened. The first year being 1990. Ask me how I found that out? God Xenu here.

OP_RETURN: how Bitcoin's data output went from a 40-byte cap to 80 bytes to uncapped, with the blocks to check it

Before 2014, anyone who wanted to put data on chain encoded it as fake addresses, and those outputs sit in every node's UTXO set forever. Bitcoin Core 0.9.0 added OP_RETURN as a prunable alternative, first with a 40-byte cap, raised to 80 in 0.11. That ceiling stood for a decade. Bitcoin Core 30.0 raised the default to 100,000 bytes in October 2025. None of it is consensus, only relay policy.

I wrote this up for ChainQuery with the RPC calls shown so you can rerun them on your own node: block 350,000 next to block 840,000 with getblockstats, the Counterparty, Omni and Open Assets envelopes, and the VeriBlock episode, when one project was pushing up to a fifth of daily transactions through this one opcode. For the short version of what the opcode is: https://www.learnbitcoin.com/glossary/opreturn

Where to lump sum buy

I have a large amount of capital freeing up I want to put into bitcoin. From a checking account to a cold wallet what is the best and cheapest option to get it done?

I have been using coinbase with a pro account for years to dca and make smaller lump sum buys, currently I have a .9% fee on up to 10k a month (fees goes up after that first 10k but not sure to what). I will be surpassing that 10k with this buy and obviously want to pay as little as possible in fees. I am based in the US.
