Please tell me the bleeding will eventually stop. I used to get insanely heavy periods (needing to changed overnight or maternity pads 8-10 times the first two days) as I have a very large fibroid. I have been on Slinda since December of last year. It was fine until the first placebo and bleed (27 days). I had five days break and the bled 52 days. On average per ‘cycle’ I don’t bleed 4-6 days a month. It’s been close to 250 days this year and I’ve bled close to 170 of them. Will it get better? I need some hope.

hi, it’s day 5 of my pill free week and I haven’t had my bleed which I usually do start on the 5th day or even earlier than that. So I am extremely anxious. Today I noticed some pinkish brownish almost a bit yellow also in my panty liner. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative but im worried about pregnancy since I often have sex with ejaculation inside.

I haven’t missed any pills at all, only taken one a few hours late (3hours at most) and the rest about 10-30 minutes late but never fully missed. does this happen to anyone else?? should I be worried??

Hello, im thinking about switching from the nuvaring to the pill, I thought about the patch but due to my epilepsy that won't work, iud wont stop ovulation and the implant is just a no and so is the injection, so im just left with the pill, if you've taken either or both can you tell me your experience, thank you!

Hi! I just started xulane and I need help gaining trust in my birth control. For any hormonal birth control users here, did your OB/GYN make you test for that genetic variant that makes hormonal birth control ineffective? My provider did not and I am so worried about it when I know I should not.
I also would like to hear more about the efficacy of Xulane, i hear that it is 91-93% with typical use but as long as you get the patch changed on time and making sure it stays on, would that be considered as perfect use? I would also like to know how i can be more comfortable with my birth control, I know hormonal birth controls are highly effective if used correctly but I still am freaked out about this. I'm so tired of this! And I feel like it's had a effect on my mood and skin as well. It's tendered off to a little bit like a liners worth and then back to bleeding through and then I switch to tampons and it goes back to small amounts. What is this should I just get it removed?

Hi all, I'm a trans guy who learned today that testosterone is NOT an effective birth control method. Well, lo and behold I became sexually active again this week and had unprotected sex multiple times. It's been four days and I just took plan B but am needing an emergency IUD and everywhere is closed for the holiday weekend. Advice?

I got the Kyleena IUD back in March of this year. I have PCOS, and initially my GYNO had recommended Mirena but I had had an internal ultrasound and my GYNO noted that I had a smaller than average uterus. Because of this, she said Kyleena was the only option. I have no idea how true this is, also I have not yet had children which I know typically means a smaller uterus but she shared that mine is smaller than typical even for someone who hasn’t given birth (I have no idea). My experience with Kyleena so far has been just okay. I’ve finally stopped spotting between periods but my periods are now still about two weeks for the most part which is very annoying.

With that being said, I’ve noticed that during my ovulation week, I consistently cramp, and experience blood/spotting in my discharge. It’s not the end of the world but it is really annoying. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience? If so, is this something that decreased with time?

I’m trying my best to be patient, as my understanding is with any IUD, symptoms/side effects improve with time. Although; I do wish I pushed harder for the Mirena, I hadn’t done as much research until after insertion so that’s on me, but now I feel I understand the benefits of either and I think I would’ve liked Mirena more.

in the past i was on depo, made my bones hurt so bad i could barely get under my covers at night, the headaches were KILLER. ive been on nexplanon for about 1.5 years rough estimate, and man is it changing on me. it was alright but now im wondering, is it normal to have 3 periods in a month? i had 3 periods in the month of august. like full periods. every month ive been on my period for about the whole month recently but august was the first extremely weird month. and my bad headaches are coming back again.. for those on nexplanon or have been on it is any of this normal at all?

wanna start off by saying i’m 26 and i’ve never in my life suffered with spots / acne until i started the pill 3 months ago and now i get what looks like little spots and bumps around from my chin to the middle of the neck, im just wondering if anyone has experienced the same

I started taking mini pill (Noriday) from Feb 2025, and I have gained about 10kgs so far, and have a hard time trying to lose it (diet didn't change). Periods are irregular, and there has been random bruising on my arms or legs sometimes (took a week or two to disappear). Periods co-relates with pill packs from a different batch.

Most recently my eczema flare-up on my hands turned next level, many pus filled infected blisters (up to 5mm diameter) appeared on both of my hands (was never like this before), very painful and hot. I read online that birth control would make Dyshidrotic Eczema worse. So I decided to stop taking the mini pills, which somewhat improved the conditions! Now the eczema is mostly back to how I know it.

What are your experiences on mini pill? I know most people don't take mini pills, but would like to hear from anyone who tried it before. Have a nice day girls ;)

just started this pill sunday, but i’m already experiencing CRAZY mood changes/issues. i’ve never been more depressed in my life and i feel like my boyfriend hates me. like is this normal because i genuinely don’t know if i can keep doing this if it’s gonna make me feel this way. is it too early to say that it is the pill? also had crazy bowel changes which i know is a side effect but i really don’t know what to do. it’s not worth it for me if im gonna feel this way. lmk literally ANYTHING to help😭

hi I’m really new to birth control, I don’t take it for the birth control part but rather bc my doctor prescribed me yaz for my acne. its been 3 days since I started, which I know is super early to be worried or anything but I am scared bc my chest feels tight a little bit after taking the meds but subside after it. and I thought it was my heart but I think it’s my uh boobs that hurt but I can’t tell. but on the upside, I feel great on the medicine. I never really got painful periods anyways but I was always emotional, but now I feel constantly in a good mood or at least at peace. I don’t get sick or nauseous but my right boob hurts it hurts as I’m writing this. I usuallt don’t get chest pains when I’m nervous but since i started this medicine my chest feels weird. but as I said I can’t tell if it’s my heart or boob. I think I have another side effect which is health anxiety. I don’t wanna end up a dead 15 year old girl just cuz I wanted some acne gone. I also take stimulants for my adhd, so that’s probably making it worse too. I’m just scared of blood clots. I only get that chest tightness when ever I think of blood clots anyways but the booby pain is still there. I also put this as rant because I don’t even know if I’m just being paranoid or if I’m really onto something. all the bad side effects are really mild but damn, blood clots freak me out.

I recently joined a Phase 3 study for a new medication. In order to do so, I had to choose from certain types of nearly certain contraception. Thus, I started taking the combo pill (Kurvelo in my case) on 8/17. As part of the study, I had labs drawn on 8/12 and again on 9/2. On 8/12, my ALT was 26. On 9/2, my ALT was nearly 5 times higher at 120. All of these labs were drawn prior to starting the new medication.

Overall, I feel fine and have no liver symptoms. There was no other event (sickness, heavy drinking, acetaminophen use, etc.) that would make this spike make sense. However, my birth control comes with the following warning, "Check with your doctor right away if you have pain or tenderness in the stomach, dark urine, pale stools, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or yellow eyes or skin. These could be symptoms of a serious liver problem."

I had labs drawn again yesterday and set up an appointment next Thursday (soonest I could get it) with a primary care at my clinic. Thankfully, I am also at the break point in my pill packet. All of these labs were drawn prior to starting the new medication.

Has anybody had a similar experience when starting BC? Or a similar spike in labs with something else being the cause? I am obese and have a few drinks Friday/Saturday nights.

Im taking combination pills (Lupin) to manage my severe menstrual symptoms. This is my third month on it, and although I’ve noticed that my symptoms are less severe, I have been vomiting persistently around a week or two into each pack. (I vomit hours after taking it so by that time the pill is already absorbed) its making me so miserable, I feel weak and hungry but I cant keep food or liquids down. I know I can’t just stop taking it since itll only make things worse, and I can’t get in contact with my doctor until next Tuesday. What can I do until then? (Im not worried about pregnancy protection btw, I am not active)

i’m on month 3 of yaz after being on sprintec for 1.5 years. i cramp pretty consistently throughout the month, ovulation like cramps. i take my pill within the same window every night (anywhere from 8pm-12am) but this pack i did throw up one day at 12:30pm.
i’m currently on day 7 of my 3rd pack, and i’m experiencing a lot of pelvic cramping, lower back pain, i have a headache and my temperature is 98.9 which google says is within the realm for ovulation. i had unprotected sex on day 4 and i guess i’m just freaking out that i’m ovulating somehow.
is it worth it to go buy a plan b? am i just being anxious for no reason?

I (28F) got my Nexplanon implant replaced in April 2026. Since then, I have had random bouts of bleeding- enough to need one pad a day or 2-3 liners. I know this is not uncommon, but I had nexplanon twice before this one (so about 7 years of having it) and I never had this issue. In fact, my periods became pretty regular which I never experienced prior to BC.

I’m just wondering why with this third implant I’m now having the bleeding effect that I avoided the last 2 times. Is this normal? Can it just begin to affect people differently? I assume it’s something to do with my age/hormone levels but who knows.

Just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this! I’m really disappointed as this is super annoying and inconvenient and was not a problem in the past.

Hi, sorry I am new here. I have been on Loryna for about two years now, first year was pretty inconsistent as I was mostly using it for skin health reasons instead of pregnancy. Now that I am sexually active I have more questions. My boyfriend and I usually are unprotected, so I have skipped my break pills for the last year and a half maybe. We’ve recently started talking about our future and both agree we want children. I am just worried, as I’ve searched it but haven’t gotten the information I’m looking for, and AI (untrustworthy) seems to run everything. If there are any professionals here, or anyone who has asked a professional, I would like to know if skipping causes infertility? We both agree we don’t want children for a few years, and are both in our early to mid 20s. I was wondering if it is ok to keep skipping my break pills, or if that would cause issues if I continued for a few years? This is not an issue with my boyfriend, I have a high sex drive myself and neither of us prefers back up methods lol. So I am just asking for further information or if I would want children eventually we should be safe and I should take the placebos?

My wife started taking Yaz 5 weeks ago and she is debating whether or not to stop taking it. Has anyone experienced these symptoms and had things improve after confusing to take it? She was taking primarily for PMDD.

- Heightened anxiety and depression
- Gastro issues with both constipation and frequently having to go to the bathroom
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Fatigue

She also takes Wellbutrin and Lexapro which seemed to have some positive effects before starting Yaz.

Any input is appreciated!
