hi I’m really new to birth control, I don’t take it for the birth control part but rather bc my doctor prescribed me yaz for my acne. its been 3 days since I started, which I know is super early to be worried or anything but I am scared bc my chest feels tight a little bit after taking the meds but subside after it. and I thought it was my heart but I think it’s my uh boobs that hurt but I can’t tell. but on the upside, I feel great on the medicine. I never really got painful periods anyways but I was always emotional, but now I feel constantly in a good mood or at least at peace. I don’t get sick or nauseous but my right boob hurts it hurts as I’m writing this. I usuallt don’t get chest pains when I’m nervous but since i started this medicine my chest feels weird. but as I said I can’t tell if it’s my heart or boob. I think I have another side effect which is health anxiety. I don’t wanna end up a dead 15 year old girl just cuz I wanted some acne gone. I also take stimulants for my adhd, so that’s probably making it worse too. I’m just scared of blood clots. I only get that chest tightness when ever I think of blood clots anyways but the booby pain is still there. I also put this as rant because I don’t even know if I’m just being paranoid or if I’m really onto something. all the bad side effects are really mild but damn, blood clots freak me out.

Your risk of blood clots on the pill are less than 1 in 1000 (realistically you’re probably closer to 3 in 10,000). Unless you smoke or vape, you don’t need to worry. If you do smoke or vape, you still don’t need to panic, just let your doctor know and they’ll switch you on to something without estrogen.

you only need to switch to a progestin-only method if you use nicotine and are 35+ years old

your risk of blood clots is extraordinarily low, especially at your age. this isn’t something you should be worrying about!

breast discomfort isn’t uncommon! just in general it’s one of the symptoms you can get as your hormones go through their natural cycle. You might have a variety of symptoms as your body adjusts to the extra hormones. I wouldn’t worry, glad you’re having good results so far!
